Here is my twelfth edition of my 2019 NFL Mock Draft.
1. Arizona Cardinals- Kyler Murray, Quarterback, Oklahoma: A month ago, I thought that the Murray to the Cardinals talk was fake news. After Steve Keim came out and said "Josh Rosen is our quarterback...... for now" convinced me that Murray is a near lock to go to Arizona and Josh Rosen is trade bait. Murray has a lot of respect from Kliff Kingsbury and that is the obvious connection that is making the media think this is a distinct possibility.
2. San Francisco 49ers- Nick Bosa, Defensive End, Ohio State: This is the dream scenario for the Niners. Getting the best player in the draft is always a win for whomever drafts the player. Bosa would be an upgrade over any of the pass rushers currently on the Niners roster and he would have an immediate impact like Myles Garrett did a few years back with the Browns.
3. New York Jets- Josh Allen, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Kentucky: Allen is the one player that was a huge riser from the summer until now. The Jets have a need for immediate impact talent (and versatility) on the defensive side of the ball and Allen would be a great fit. A trade down is not out of the question, either because the Jets still have other needs to address.
4. Oakland Raiders- Quinnen Williams, Defensive Tackle, Alabama: Williams is someone that the Silver And Black will gladly take and Jon Gruden loves players like Williams. He's physical and he can flat out tackle. I see a poor mans Aaron Donald here. It would be a huge win for Gruden and Mike Maycock if Arizona takes Murray and/or if someone trades up to 2 or 3 to take Dwayne Haskins or someone else.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Devin White, Inside Linebacker, LSU: White is someone that is a fast riser among defensive players in the draft. I wouldn't be shocked if Oakland picks him at 4. The Bucs have a need at the linebacker position and White is someone that's a dynamic tackling machine that could be a future Pro-bowler.
6. New York Giants- Montez Sweat, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Mississippi State: You can argue it would be a mistake to pass on quarterback in this draft for Big Blue, but reading the T-leaves it looks like they'll go defense with this pick. He is is very athletic and fast and the Giants also need a pass rusher after the trading of Olivier Vernon so this pick would make some sense.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars- Jawaan Taylor, Offensive Tackle, Florida: Taylor is someone that has risen fast after a strong combine performance. He is someone that excels in the run game and that would help Leonard Fournette find holes. The Jags have an already solid offensive line, but the presence of Taylor would only give it more depth and make life better for Nick Foles.
8. Detroit Lions- Greedy Williams, Cornerback, LSU: I would be somewhat surprised if this pick isn't a defensive player. Williams is the best corner in this draft and he's someone that is fast, lengthy, and athletic. Matt Patricia would love to play him opposite Darius Slay in that secondary.
9. Buffalo Bills- Ed Oliver, Defensive Tackle, Houston: Oliver was once projected a top-five pick and his stock has dropped dramatically, so there's a chance Oliver is a steal at this point. The Bills need more help on the offensive line rather than the defensive line, but the retirement of Kyle Williams opened up a hole that Oliver can facilitate.
10. Denver Broncos- Drew Lock, Quarterback, Missouri: There is some chatter that the Broncos might take or trade up for a quarterback, but I can see John Elway taking a chance here despite despite other speculation that he won't take a quarterback. Joe Flacco is only under contract for one season and Lock can learn from him.
11. Cincinnati Bengals- Dwayne Haskins, Quarterback, Ohio State: This could be a either fantasy by Andy Dalton's critics or real buzz that the Bengals are starting to focus on replacing Dalton. Haskins is the best quarterback in this draft class and he's someone that has the leadership and personality to be a franchise quarterback.
12. Green Bay Packers- T.J. Hockenson, Tight End, Iowa: Jimmy Graham isn't the same player he once was in New Orleans so the Packers should snag a fast rising tight end in Hockenson. He's a good blocker and has drawn comparisons to George Kittle of the 49ers. It also wouldn't surprise me if they (and probably is the wiser choice to) take a defensive player.
13. Miami Dolphins- Rashan Gary, Defensive End, Michigan: Miami is a team that is all in on Tank For Tua after it decided to trade Ryan Tannehill away and sign Ryan Fitzpatrick to a 2-year contract. Gary is somebody who did not live upto his number one top prospect ranking he was given in high school, but maybe he finds his potential in the pros instead.
14. Atlanta Falcons- Christian Wilkins, Defensive Tackle, Clemson: Wilkins is the first of three Clemson defensive lineman to be drafted. The Falcons did franchise tag Gardy Jarrett instead of letting him test the open market, but selecting a defensive lineman here would bolster their depth at that area and Wilkins can start for Dan Quinn immediately if need be.
15. Washington Redskins- Daniel Jones, Quarterback, Duke: With Alex Smith's future uncertain, the Skins take a chance with a young quarterback in Jones. He has drawn comparisons to Eli Manning and also has participated in the Manning Passing Academy. His stock has risen with a good showing in the Senior Bowl and the combine it sure seems like he's a sure fire first round pick.
16. Carolina Panthers- Jonah Williams, Offensive Tackle, Alabama: The Panthers land a mega steal here with Williams, who is the best lineman in the draft. Williams will be starting right away in this scenario and Cam Newton needs protection badly because he's a quarterback that is an injury risk as of right now.
17. New York Giants (from Cleveland Browns)- Clelin Ferrell, Defensive End, Clemson: The second of two Clemson players get taken here with Ferrell. The Giants desperately need help on their pass rush arguably as badly as they need their franchise quarterback. Ferrell is someone who will start on day one and will give the team someone who can get to the quarterback and stop the run very well.
18. Minnesota Vikings- Cody Ford, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma: The Vikings are a team that's close to being a contender and they must address their biggest weakness- their offensive line. Ford is someone that is coming off a strong final season in college and would be a welcomed addition to a Vikings offensive line, that needs youth and reinforcements.
19. Tennessee Titans- Brian Burns, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Florida State: Burns is someone that could go in the top fifteen or slide out of the first round entirely. He's someone that can rush the passer and someone that can play alongside Jurrell Casey in Nashville.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers- Byron Murphy, Cornerback, Washington: Murphy falling this far would be somewhat of a steal for the Steelers. Yes, they absolutely need a wide receiver with the departure of Antonio Brown, but this wouldn't be a bad option considering their secondary isn't great either.
21. Seattle Seahawks- Nassir Adderley, Safety, Delaware: Adderley is someone who's stock is rapidly rising by the week with his good Senior Bowl performance. He's not even considered the best safety in the draft, but the Seahawks have a need at the position and I can see Pete Carroll rolling the dice here.
22. Baltimore Ravens- DK Metclaf, Wide Receiver, Ole Miss: Metclaf is someone who could wind up a steal from this spot. This would be a nice weapon for Lamar Jackson, who needs a downfield threat guy to help his development.
23. Houston Texans- Dalton Risner, Offensive Tackle, Kansas State: The Texans had the worst offensive line in the sport a year ago and they need all the reinforcements that they can use. Risner is someone that can come in and start immediately for a unit that allowed a ton of sacks a season ago.
24. Oakland Raiders (from Chicago Bears)- Devin Bush, Inside Linebacker, Michigan: What a steal this is for Jon Gruden and company! Bush is someone that could theoretically go in the top ten and landing him this far back would be amazing. He would start immediately on this Raiders team that is looking for youth on the defensive side of the ball.
25. Philadelphia Eagles- Dexter Lawrence, Defensive Tackle, Clemson: Here is the third of the three Clemson players that are expected to go in the first round and Lawrence could wind up the best one of the trio. He reminds me of current Eagle Fletcher Cox and the thought of those two on the interior together is scary.
26. Indianapolis Colts- Jerry Tillery, Defensive Tackle, Notre Dame: Tillery is someone that would fit very well into the new young core the Colts have forming as they build around Andrew Luck. He's a versatile player that could be a steal for whomever picks him.
27. Oakland Raiders (from Dallas Cowboys)- Josh Jacobs, Running Back, Alabama: The Raiders use their third first rounder for a position of need with Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin not being long term solutions. Jacobs is the best running back in the draft and I can see Maycock and Gruden taking him here.
28. Los Angeles Chargers- Jeffery Simmons, Defensive Tackle, Mississippi State: Simmons stock has dropped after he tore his ACL, so the Chargers could get a steal here if he lives up to his potential. He would be a solid fit next to Joey Bosa on that defensive line.
29. Kansas City Chiefs- DeAndre Baker, Cornerback, Georgia: Baker is one of the more underrated corners in draft. The Chiefs need secondary help more than any of the Super Bowl contenders and Baker can come in and start immediately.
30. Green Bay Packers (from New Orleans Saints)- Hakeem Butler, Wide Receiver, Iowa State: Butler is somebody who's stock is rising and I can see the Packers snagging him here. They need someone to replace Randall Cobb and Butler would fit in as their wide receiver depth is pretty thin outside of DeVante Adams.
31. Los Angeles Rams- Garrett Bradbury, Center, North Carolina State: Bradbury is someone who's stock is rising rapidly and is the best center in this draft. The Rams lost John Sullivan in free agency and Bradbury can come in and possibly start right away.
32. New England Patriots- Parris Campbell, Wide Receiver, Ohio State: The second of Dwayne Haskins's targets goes off the board here. Campbell is someone with a lot of speed and he would help Tom Brady and that offense.

2019 NBA Playoffs: Quarterfinals Predictions
Here are my predictions for the Quarterfinals of the 2019 NBA Playoffs.
Eastern Conference
(8) Detroit Pistons vs (1) Milwaukee Bucks: The Pistons and head coach Dwayne Casey deserve a ton of credit for getting here because they got off to a slow start and took advantage of the weak East to get here as well as Blake Griffin staying healthy for the most part of the season. Andre Drummond had a solid season for them as did oft injured point guard Reggie Jackson. Mid-season pickup Wayne Ellington provided much needed shooting from the perimeter for this team. The bench for this team is weak, but guys like Langston Galloway and Ish Smith could get hot. The Bucks meanwhile finished with the best record in the NBA as Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way for them. The supporting cast of Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe, Brook Lopez, and the currently injured Malcolm Brodgon and Nikola Mirotic provides shooting and good intensity too. Their bench which features guys like Tony Snell, Ersan Illaysova, and George Hill must step up with Brogdon and Mirotic hurt. Mike Budenholzer is the absolute perfect coach for this team and I think his team wins a short series against an inferior Pistons team.
Prediction: Bucks in five games.
(7) Orlando Magic vs (2) Toronto Raptors: The Magic are a team that hung in the Eastern Conference Playoff race throughout the season and won the games they had to win to get here. Nikola Vusevic had a career year this year as did Sixth Man of the Year candidate Terrance Ross. Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, and Jonathan Issacs are also solid players for the Magic. DJ Augustin isn't a great point guard, but he's a veteran that's played in playoff games before. Ross is clearly their best bench guy and lottery pick Mo Bomba should see some more playing time as the rest of their bench isn't good. The Raptors are absolutely great as Nick Nurse has done a great job replacing Dwayne Casey. Kawhi Leonard will be motivated as he's playing for a new max contract. Danny Green has been great in big games in his career. Kyle Lowry has had struggles in the playoffs in the past, but the Rpas will rely on Leonard heavily. Serge Ibaka has had a great resurgence this season and Pascal Siakam is a candidate for Most Improved Player. The Raps have a choice of who to start at center between Ibaka and Marc Gasol and neither is a bad option. Their bench is better than it's been in the past with guys like Fred Van Vleet, OG Anunoby, Jodie Meeks, and Norman Powell. That said, the Raptors are way better and more superior and I like them to win a short series.
Prediction: Raptors in four games.
(6) Brooklyn Nets vs (3) Philadelphia 76ers: The Nets, like the Magic are a team folks thought were going to be tanking this season, but here they are in the playoffs and Kenny Atkinson did a great job this season getting this team here. DeAngelo Russell will be a candidate for Most Improved Player as he's been their go to guy this season. Joe Harris is somebody that can shoot the three ball well. Rodions Kurucz has been a surprise rookie for the Nets who is feisty. DeMarre Carroll had a resurgence after the Raptors decided to dump his contract on to this team. Jarrett Allen is one of the more underrated big men in the league. Caris LaVert is their Sixth Man now that he's back from that gruesome injury. They have other vets coming off the bench such as Spender Dinwiddie and Jared Dudley. The Sixers are rightful favorites here as they have the conferences best starting five featuring Ben Simmons, JJ Redick, Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid. Their bench is better this year with reliable guys such as Amir Johnson, Jonathon Simmons, Mike Scott, and Boban Marjonovich. The Sixers are obviously the more superior and talented team, but with Embiid not 100%, I think this series goes a little longer than people think as the Nets could steal a few games.
Prediction: 76ers in six games.
(5) Indiana Pacers vs (4) Boston Celtics: The Pacers are a team that deserves credit for somewhat keeping themselves relevant after the devastating injury to Victor Oladipo. Bojan Bogdanovic stepped up his game in Oladipo's absense as well as mid-season pickup Wesley Matthews. Darren Collison is someone who's played in big playoff games in the past. Myles Turner is someone that has been inconsistent and hasn't lived up to his potential. The best big man on this team comes off the bench and that is Domontas Sabonis. The rest of their bench isn't great, but has guys that can get hot like Corey Joseph, Doug McDermott, and Tyreke Evans. The Celtics are team that disappointed in the regular season due to injuries and drama with their best player, Kyrie Irving. Gordon Hayward has finally showed signs of being himself again within the last few weeks. Al Horford is someone that's been in a ton of big games throughout his career. Jaylen Brown has played much better after a slow start to his season and Jayson Tatum is someone that has regressed after a great rookie season. Aron Baynes has been starting at center for them of late, who isn't that bad. The oblique injury to Marcus Smart is a huge loss for them as Brown will start. Terry Rozier and Marcus Morris haven't been consistent off the bench, but Hayward comes off the bench for them and he'll provide the secondary scoring. If Oladipo was healthy, I would have predicted a seven game series, but I like the C's to get this done in what should be a competitive series.
Prediction: Celtics in six games.
Western Conference
(8) Los Angeles Clippers vs (1) Golden State Warriors: Doc Rivers has to be the favorite for the Coach of the Year, especially after trading away Tobias Harris and the team continued to play well and avoided tanking. The three-point guard starting lineup with rookie Shae Gilgeous-Alexander, Patrick Beverley, and Landry Shamet has worked brilliantly for them to go with Danillo Gallinari and Ivica Zubac in the front court. Lou Williams, Garrett Temple, Wilson Chandler, and Montrezl Harrell come off the bench for them. The Warriors are prohibited favorites to three-peat, although they had a strange regular season. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and DeMarcus Cousins is a dominant starting five and obviously the best in the league. Off the bench is Andre Igoudala, Quinn Cook, Jordan Bell, and Andrew Bogut. You can argue that the Clippers are the most frisky opponent the Warriors have had in the first round since Steve Kerr has been their coach, but the Dubs are much more superior as they'll win a short series.
Prediction: Warriors in five games.
(7) San Antonio Spurs vs (2) Denver Nuggets: The Spurs deserve a ton of credit for getting here after the trading of Kawhi Leonard and after their point guard DeJounte Murray tore his ACL and was lost for the season. DeMar DeRozan came over in the Leonard trade and has had a great season as he and LaMarcus Aldridge carried the team the whole season. Derrick White and Brynn Forbes are two guys Gregg Popovich got a ton out of this season as well as Jakob Poeltl, who occasionally starts for them at center. Rudy Gay is somebody that revitalized his career and is having a great season. Their bench is full of shooters such as Marco Belinelli, Davis Bertans, and Patty Mills. The Nuggets are finally back in the postseason for the first time in six seasons. Nikola Jokic has been one of the best big men in the league this season. The rest of the starting lineup featuring Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Will Barton, and Paul Milsap. Malik Beasley has improved and has been great as a sixth man for this team. The rest of the bench is solid and it features Isaiah Thomas, Mason Plumlee, and Juan Hernangomez. This series has a chance to be great and I think the Nuggets win a very competitive series against a veteran lated Spurs team.
Prediction: Nuggets in seven games.
(6) Oklahoma City Thunder vs (3) Portland Trail Blazers: The Thunder have been a team that's been up and down all season. Paul George is a top five MVP candidate and was playing like a top 3 one a few months ago before he had his nagging shoulder injury. Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double for the third straight season. Terrance Ferguson and Jerami Grant have been solid starters for them as well as Steven Adams. Their bench has been solid at times featuring Dennis Schroeder, Markieff Morris, and Nerlens Noel. Too bad Andre Roberson is likely to miss the remainder of the season due to that knee injury he suffered last year. The Blazers have exceeded many folks expectations yet again. Damien Lillard is having perhaps his best season yet and CJ McCollum has been solid this season as well. Mo Harkless and Al-Farouq Aminu has been a solid forward combo and too bad Jursuf Nurkic is out for the season with that gruesome leg injury. Enes Kanter will be solid offensively filling in for Nurkic. Their bench is not bad with guys like Jake Leyman, Seth Curry, Rodney Hood, and Zach Collins. The Thunder are 4-0 against the Blazers this season and I believe they'll get by them here in a competitive series.
Prediction: Thunder in six games.
(5) Utah Jazz vs (4) Houston Rockets: The Jazz are a very good team that is very well coached. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert are two foundational players for them and Joe Ingles is one of the more underrated players in the game. Ricky Rubio has health questions and he's been solid for them. Derrick Favors has been solid for the Jazz as well. Their bench is full of veterans such as Kyle Korver, Jae Crowder, and Royce O'Neale. The Rockets got off to a slow start and nearly got the two seed in the West. James Harden has been sensational this season and has an excellent chance to repeat as MVP. Chris Paul and Clint Capela are back and playing up to par. Eric Gordon is starting for them now and has been pretty good as well as PJ Tucker. Their bench is solid too with Kenneth Faried, Gerald Green, and Austin Rivers. This should be a great series and could be the best one of the first round, but give me the Rockets here and Harden to be awesome.
Prediction: Rockets in six games.
2019 NFL Mock Draft: Eleventh Edition
Here is my eleventh edition of my 2019 NFL Mock Draft.
6. New York Giants- Montez Sweat, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Mississippi State: This is the first mock draft where I don't have Dwyane Haskins being picked in this spot. It would be a mistake to pass on quarterback in this draft for Big Blue, but reading the T-leaves it looks like they'll go defense with this pick.
8. Detroit Lions- Rashan Gary, Defensive End, Michigan: The Lions are almost definitely going defense with this pick and it wouldn't be such a bad idea to go pass rush, even with the addition of Tre Flowers. Gary is somebody who did not live upto his number one top prospect ranking he was given in high school, but maybe he finds his potential in the pros instead.

11. Cincinnati Bengals- Devin Bush, Inside Linebacker, Michigan: Bush is someone who's stock is rising of late who has first round talent. The Bengals don't have Vontaze Burfict anymore, so a need emerges at the position and they are a team that can use youth on their defense. There's some speculation that they are looking to find Andy Dalton's replacement, but I'm not buying it.
13. Miami Dolphins- Dwayne Haskins, Quarterback, Ohio State: Haskins falls to the Dolphins as they take him and change the narrative that they are tanking to take one of the A-list quarterbacks in next years draft. Haskins is the best quarterback in this draft class and he really has a chance to be special.
16. Carolina Panthers- DK Metclaf, Wide Receiver, Ole Miss: The Panthers have some options here, so they settle on getting Cam Newton a new person to throw to. Metclaf is someone that has some upside and is a fast, downfield threat, who has a chance to get drafted as high as seventh to the Jaguars.
18. Minnesota Vikings- Jonah Williams, Offensive Tackle, Alabama: The Vikings land a mega steal here with Williams, who is the best lineman in the draft. Williams will be starting right away in this scenario and Kirk Cousins needs protection badly because his offensive line was brutal a year ago and he needs to quiet some critics with two years left on that big contract he signed last year.
19. Tennessee Titans- Greedy Williams, Cornerback, LSU: What a steal this would be for the Titans! Thought out as the best corner at the draft, Tennessee lands someone that can come in and start right away. Malcolm Butler isn't getting any younger, so this pick makes a ton of sense as they would end up with a secondary featuring Williams and Kevin Byard.
21. Seattle Seahawks- Dionte Thompson, Safety, Alabama: Thompson would be a steal dropping this far. "Legion of Boom" is gone in The Emerald City and drafting the best safety in the draft would be great for Pete Carroll's young secondary.
22. Baltimore Ravens- N'Keal Harry, Wide Receiver, Arizona State: The Ravens have more needs in terms of offensive playmakers more than any team that made the playoffs last season. Harry would be a nice weapon for Lamar Jackson, who needs a downfield threat guy to help his development.
23. Houston Texans- Andre Dillard, Offensive Tackle, Washington State: No team needs an offensive line improvement in the league more than the Texans. Dillard is someone rising due to a strong combine showing at the combine. He's the best blocking tackle in the draft and that would be a treat for DeShaun Watson, who was sacked 62 (!!!!) times last year.
24. Oakland Raiders (from Chicago Bears)- Josh Jacobs, Running Back, Alabama: The Raiders use their second first rounder for a position of need with Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin not being long term solutions. Jacobs is the best running back in the draft and I can see Maycock and Gruden taking him here before the Eagles go on the clock.
26. Indianapolis Colts- AJ Brown, Wide Receiver, Ole Miss: The Colts suddenly look like a team that has a look of a contender. A defensive player is the wiser choice but Andrew Luck needs another reliable wideout other than TY Hilton. I'm not sold on Devin Funchess being a reliable #2 receiver and Brown is someone that was overshadowed by DK Metclaf in college and could thrive with Andrew Luck.
27. Oakland Raiders (from Dallas Cowboys)- Rock Ya-Sin, Cornerback, Temple: This is a major reach for the Raiders as they are looking for secondary help Ya-Sin is a fast riser who is very physical and someone Jon Gruden would really like to get his potential out of and play him alongside Gareon Conley.
28. Los Angeles Chargers- Jerry Tillery, Defensive Tackle, Notre Dame: The Chargers defensive front was exposed in their playoff defeat against the Patriots and bolstering the interior would be wise. Tillery is someone who's stock is rising and is worth the selection here.
29. Kansas City Chiefs- Juan Thornhill, Safety, Virginia: No contender needs more secondary help than the Chiefs. Thornhill is someone who's stock is rising due to a strong combine and I can see the Chiefs taking a chance on him.
30. Green Bay Packers (from New Orleans Saints)- Terry McLaurin, Wide Receiver, Ohio State: McLaurin is somebody who's stock is rising and I can see the Packers snagging him here. They need someone to replace Randall Cobb and McLaurin would fit in as their wide receiver depth is pretty thin.
31. Los Angeles Rams- Jeffery Simmons, Defensive Tackle, Mississippi State: Simmons stock has dropped after he tore his ACL, so the Rams could get a steal here if he lives up to his potential. He would be a solid fit next to Aaron Donald on that defensive line.
32. New England Patriots- Parris Campbell, Wide Receiver, Ohio State: The second of Dwayne Haskins's targets goes off the board here. Campbell is someone with a lot of speed and he would help Tom Brady and that offense.

2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Quarterfinal Predictions
Here are my predictions for the Quarterfinal of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Eastern Conference
(A1) Tampa Bay Lightning vs (WC2) Columbus Blue Jackets: The 2018-19 Lightning are going to go down among the greatest regular season teams ever, but will it translate to when it matters the most? Time will tell. The Blue Jackets are a team that is under some pressure with their President of Hockey Ops looking like he's heading to the Big Apple to take the same position with the Rangers and a coach that might be handed a pink slip. The Bolts are an amazing offensive team led by Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, and Brayden Point. Their defense is very good too led by Victor Hedman, Ryan McDonagh, Mikhail Sergachev, and Braydon Coburn. Andrei Vasilevskiy is one of the better net minders in the game right now. The Blue Jackets offense is very good led by Artemi Panarin, Matt Duchene, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Cam Atkinson, and Josh Anderson. The defense is solid led by Seth Jones and Zach Werenski. Sergei Brovovsky is someone in a contract year, but never has had playoff success in his career. That said, the Bolts are the better team and I think they win a short series.
Prediction: Lightning in four games.
(A2) Boston Bruins vs (A3) Toronto Maple Leafs: Second year in a row where these two Original Six teams hook up in the first round. The Bruins are a team that's very deep offensively led by Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, David Pasternak, and David Krejci. The defense is solid too led by Torey Krug, Charlie McAvoy, and Zdeno Chara. Tukka Rask has been solid in net after a slow start to the season and Jarosalav Halak was very good backing him up. The Maple Leafs are loaded offensively with Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner, Nazem Kadri, and William Nylander. Their defense is better with the acquisition of Jake Muzzin to go with Morgan Reilly and Jake Gardiner. Frederik Anderson is a good goalie, but has not gotten the job done in the postseason as a member of the Leafs. This should be a great series between these rivals and these are two great
coaches too and I like the better and deeper team and that is the Bruins.
Prediction: Bruins in seven games.
(M1) Washington Capitals vs (WC1) Carolina Hurricanes: The reigning champions go for their title defense against a team that has not made the playoffs in a decade. The Capitals are great offensively led by Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznestov, and TJ Oshie. Their defense is deep led by John Carlson, Dmitry Orslov, and Matt Niskanen. Braden Holtby exercised demons in goal in the cup run last season after he was benched to start last years playoffs. The Hurricanes are solid offensively led by Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teräväinen, Justin Williams, and Micheal Ferland. Their defense is good too led by Dougie Hamilton, Justin Faulk, and Jaccob Slavin. Petr Mrazek has been solid in goal and has had some playoff success with the Red Wings several years ago. That said, the Caps are still the reigning champions and they have the experience unlike the Canes, in which should be a fun series to watch.
Prediction: Capitals in six games.
(M2) New York Islanders vs (M3) Pittsburgh Penguins: The Islanders are the biggest surprise of the league this season due to the fact they lost now former face of the franchise John Tavares in free agency. The Penguins have been up and down throughout the season with a ton of injuries and inconsistent play. The Isles offensively are led by Anders Lee, Mathew Barzal, Josh Bailey, and Brock Nelson. The defense has been better than expected led by Johnny Boychuk, Nick Leddy, and Ryan Pulock. The duo of Thomas Greiss and Robin Lehner has been much better than anyone could have hoped this season in goal. The Penguins are loaded offensively led by Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel, and Phil Kessel. Their defense is solid led by Kris Letang, Brian Dumoulin, and Justin Schultz. Matt Murray has the experience in goal and has thrived for the most part. The Pens are the better and more experienced team and I like them in what should be a competitive series.
Prediction: Penguins in six games.
Western Conference
(P1) Calgary Flames vs (WC2) Colorado Avalanche: This is a sneaky good series. The Flames are overpowering offensively led by Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, Brady Tkachuk, and Elias Lindholm. Their defense is good too led by Mark Giordano, TJ Brodie, and Noah Hanafin. The goaltending duo of Mike Smith and David Rittich is not great or playoff tested though. The Avalanche are great offensively led by Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Ratenen, and Gabriel Landeskog. Their defense is sneaky good led by Tyson Barrie, Samuel Girard, and Erik Johnson. Semyon Varlamov has played in playoff games before, but he was hurt during last years playoffs. So much talent in this series on both sides, but the better team is the Flames, who should win a competitive series.
Prediction: Flames in six games.
(P2) San Jose Sharks vs (P3) Vegas Golden Knights: This series was pretty much a given a while back, so these teams weren't playing well heading into the playoffs. The Sharks are very good offensively led by Tomas Hertl, Timo Meier, Logan Couture, Evander Kane, and Joe Pavelski. Their defense is deep led by Brent Burns, Erik Karlsson, Marc-Édouard Vlasic, and Brendan Dillon. Mark Jones had a down year this game, but has thrived in the playoffs in the past. The Golden Knights are very good offensively led by Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson, Alex Tauch, and Max Pacioretty. Their defense is solid led by Shea Theodore, Nate Smith, and Colin Miller. Marc-Andre Fleury is back from injury and was solid in the Knights playoff run a year ago. This should be a good series, but the Sharks are not fully healthy as they have guys recovering from injuries such as Karlsson and Pavelski, so give me the Knights to steal this series.
Prediction: Golden Knights in six games.
(C1) Nashville Predators vs (WC1) Dallas Stars: These two teams are familiar with each other being in the same division and are both well coached with a ton of big name players on their respective rosters. The Predators are very good offensively led by Filip Forsberg, Viktor Avridsson, and Ryan Johanssen. Their defense is loaded led by Roman Josi, PK Subban, Ryan Ellis, and Mattias Ekholm. Pekka Rinne is widely known for his regular season success, but playoff struggles although if Rinne struggles, Juusi Saros is one of the better backup goalies in the league and has had some success in playoff play. The Stars are very good offensively led by Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, and Alexander Radulov. The defense is solid led by John Klingberg and Miro Hiskanen. Ben Bishop has been solid this season in goal as he'll start in the postseason and backup Anton Khudobin has been awesome too. That said, the better team is the Predators and I think they win a short series.
Prediction: Predators in five games.
(C2) Winnipeg Jets vs (C3) St. Louis Blues: This is the best series of the first round as the Jets have been very good all year and the Blues had a remarkable turnaround to get to this point. The Jets are loaded offensively led by Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Kyle Connor, and Patrik Laine. Their defense is very good led by Jacob Trouba, Tyler Myers, Dustin Byfuglien, and Josh Morrisey. Connor Hellebuyck didn't have a great year in goal, but he is reliable. The Blues offense is great led by Vladimir Tarasenko, Ryan O'Reilly, Brayden Schenn, and David Perron. Their defense is very good led by Alex Pietrangelo, Vince Dunn, and Colton Parayko. Jordan Binnington has been a revelation in net and Jake Allen has the playoff experience too. That said, I don't trust Binnington when the lights are the brightest and the Jets have the home ice advantage so I like them to win a classic series.
Prediction: Jets in seven games.

2019 NFL Mock Draft: Tenth Edition
Here is the tenth edition of my 2019 NFL Mock Draft.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Montez Sweat, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Mississippi State: The Buccaneers have options as they decide on the fast rising pass rusher in Sweat, who has major bust potential, though. He is is very athletic and fast and is someone the Bucs can build their front seven around along with Gerald McCoy.
6. New York Giants- Dwayne Haskins, Quarterback, Ohio State: This is a marriage that has to happen. Eli Manning is not good anymore and is five years past his prime. Haskins is someone that there was rumors that the Giants had zero interest in him, but than reports circled that they had dinner with him after the combine and they had key staff at his Pro Day. He is the best quarterback in this draft and has the makings of a leader. Exactly what the Giants are looking for.
8. Detroit Lions- Devin White, Inside Linebacker, LSU: The Lions are getting a possible steal here with White, where some projections have him going as high as fourth to Oakland. Matt Patricia would love a player of White's caliber, who is someone that's a dynamic tackling machine that could be a future Pro-bowler.
15. Washington Redskins- DK Metclaf, Wide Receiver, Ole Miss: The latest rumor out of the Nations Capital is that they are the favorites to trade for Josh Rosen. In matter of fact, Rosen or whomever is quarterback of this team needs a wide receiver. Metclaf is a downfield threat, who has a chance to get drafted as high as seventh to the Jaguars.
17. New York Giants (from Cleveland Browns)- Brian Burns, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Florida State: There's a chance the Giants trade this and the sixth pick for the franchise quarterback they desperately need. Burns is someone that is rising with speed, but his weakness is that he isn't great against the run. The Giants have plenty of options here, but if the quarterback magically falls to them at six, defense would be a wise play here.
21. Seattle Seahawks- Dionte Thompson, Safety, Alabama: Thompson would be a steal dropping this far. "Legion of Boom" is gone in The Emerald City and drafting the best safety in the draft would be great for Pete Carroll's young secondary.
22. Baltimore Ravens- Hakeem Butler, Wide Receiver, Iowa State: Butler's stock is rising very fast as he seems likely to be a first round pick. Lamar Jackson needs weapons around him everywhere and Butler would be a good start.
25. Philadelphia Eagles- Greg Little, Offensive Tackle, Ole Miss: The Eagles roster is pretty good, so there's not really any obvious needs. The offensive line is a unit that is aging and Little is someone that could be a first rounder or a third rounder.
26. Indianapolis Colts- Jerry Tillery, Defensive Tackle, Notre Dame: Tillery is someone that would fit very well into the new young core the Colts have forming as they build around Andrew Luck. He's a versatile player that could be a steal for whomever picks him.
27. Oakland Raiders (from Dallas Cowboys)- Irv Smith Jr, Tight End, Alabama: Smith is the fastest rising tight end as of right now. Derek Carr needs weapons and Smith would come in and replace Jared Cook very well.
28. Los Angeles Chargers- Dexter Lawrence, Defensive Tackle, Clemson: The Chargers are a team that has a solid roster, so they have options here. Lawrence is someone that makes there defensive line better and brings more depth. He reminds me of Fletcher Cox of the Eagles and imagine him and Joey Bosa on the same defensive line?
29. Kansas City Chiefs- Clelin Ferrell, Defensive End, Clemson: The third Clemson defensive lineman goes off the board as the Chiefs land a potential steal. They need to replace Dee Ford on their pass rush and Ferrell can come in and start right away.
30. Green Bay Packers (from New Orleans Saints)- Mack Wilson, Inside Linebacker, Alabama: Wilson's stock is rising as he's among the better linebackers in the draft. The Packers have a need of youth with the linebacker position with Clay Matthews aging and Wilson would be a solid fit.
31. Los Angeles Rams- Garrett Bradbury, Center, North Carolina State: Bradbury is someone who's stock is rising rapidly and is the best center in this draft. The Rams lost John Sullivan in free agency and Bradbury can come in and possibly start right away.
32. New England Patriots- Noah Fant, Tight End, Iowa: Rob Gronkowski is now retired and the Pats need a viable replacement. Fant is the best tight end of the draft and he can have an impact similar to what Dallas Goedert had on the Eagles last year.
