Here are my picks for week eight of the 2016 College Football season.
Thursday, October 20th
Miami (FL) (4-2; 1-2) at Virginia Tech (4-2; 2-1)- 7:30, ESPN: If both teams hadn't laid eggs last week, this would have been a much bigger game. But this could go along way to decide who represents the Coastal Division in the ACC championship game. Give me the Hokies to bounce back at home.
Pick: Virginia Tech
Troy (5-1; 3-0) at South Alabama (3-3; 0-3) 7:30, ESPNU
Pick: Troy
BYU (4-3) at (14) Boise State (6-0; 3-0) 10:15, ESPN: This should be a fun one in Boise. Give me the Broncos in a close one.
Pick: Boise State
Friday, October 21st
South Florida (6-1; 3-0) at Temple (4-3; 2-1)- 7:00, ESPN: This is a big one that could very well decide the AAC East. The Bulls have been very good all year, but I like the Owls here at home.
Pick: Temple
San Jose State (2-5; 1-2) at San Diego State (5-1; 2-0)- 10:30, ESPN2
Pick: San Diego State
Oregon (2-4; 0-3) at California (3-3; 1-2)- 10:30, ESPN: It's pretty much a no-brainer that there will be over 100 points scored combined in this one. I like the Bears at home and you'll continue to hear rumblings about Mark Helfrich's job security.
Pick: California
North Texas (3-3; 2-1) at Army (4-2)- 12:00, CBSSN
Pick: Army
Massachusetts (1-5) at South Carolina (2-4; 1-4)- 12:00, SECN
Pick: South Carolina
UCF (3-3; 1-1) at Connecticut (3-4; 1-3)- 12:00, ESPNEWS
Pick: Connecticut
Central Michigan (4-2; 1-1) at Toledo (5-1; 2-0)- 12:00, ESPN3
Pick: Toledo
Miami (OH) (1-6; 1-2) at Bowling Green (1-6; 0-3)- 12:00, ESPN3
Pick: Bowling Green
Indiana (3-3; 1-2) at Northwestern (3-3; 2-1)- 12:00, BTN: The Wildcats have played much better since starting the season 1-3, but the Hoosiers are the pick here.
Pick: Indiana
(10) Wisconsin (4-2; 1-2) at Iowa (5-2; 3-1)- 12:00, ESPN: This should be an interesting game. The a Badgers are the better team and they'll get the win in Iowa City.
Pick: Wisconsin
North Carolina State (4-2; 1-1) at (7) Louisville (5-1; 3-1)- 12:00, ABC: The Wolfpack took Clemson to overtime last week, meanwhile the Cardinals barely beat Duke. This will be closer than the experts think, but the Cardinals and Lamar Jackson escape again.
Pick: Louisville
Oklahoma State (4-2; 2-1) at Kansas (1-5; 0-3)- 12:00, FS1
Pick: Oklahoma State
Texas (3-3; 1-2) at Kansas State (3-3; 1-2)- 12:00, ESPN2: This was a tough call, but give me the Wildcats at home and the rumblings about Charlie Strong's job security.
Pick: Kansas State
Rutgers (2-5; 0-4) at Minnesota (4-2; 1-2)- 12:00, ESPNU
Pick: Minnesota
Syracuse (3-4; 1-2) at Boston College (3-3; 0-3)- 12:30, ACCN: This screams letdown for the Orange after a big home win over Virginia Tech.
Pick: Boston College
Ohio (4-3; 2-1) at Kent State (2-5; 1-2)- 1:00, ESPN3
Pick: Ohio
Hawaii (3-4; 2-1) at Air Force (4-2; 1-2)- 2:00
Pick: Air Force
Akron (4-2; 2-0) at Ball State (3-3; 0-2)- 3:00, ESPN3
Pick: Akron
Colorado (5-2; 3-1) at Stanford (4-2; 2-2)- 3:00, Pac-12N: This game should be very interesting. Something tells me the Buffaloes go into Stanford and grabs a big road win.
Pick: Colorado
(22) North Carolina (5-2; 3-1) at Virginia (2-4; 1-1)- 3:00, ACCN
Pick: North Carolina
Memphis (5-1; 2-0) at (24) Navy (4-1; 3-0)- 3:30, CBSSN: This game could very well decide the AAC West. I like the Mid Shipmen at home in what should be an excellent game.
Pick: Navy
Illinois (2-4; 1-2) at (3) Michigan (6-0; 3-0)- 3:30, BTN
Pick: Michigan
Purdue (3-3; 1-2) at (8) Nebraska (6-0; 3-0) 3:30, ABC/ESPN2
Pick: Nebraska
TCU (4-2; 2-1) at (12) West Virginia (5-0; 2-0)- 3:30, ABC/ESPN2: This is a big one. The Mountaineers laid the smackdown in Lubbock last week and have shown that they're for real. That will continue here on national TV against a solid opponent.
Pick: West Virginia
Idaho (4-3; 2-1) at Appalachian State (4-2; 2-0)- 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Appalachian State
Tennessee-Martin (4-3; 3-1) at Georgia State (1-5; 1-2)- 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Georgia State
Buffalo (1-5; 0-2) at Northern Illinois (1-6; 1-2)- 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Northern Illinois
(9) Texas A&M (6-0; 4-0) at (1) Alabama (7-0; 4-0)- 3:30, CBS: I picked against the Tide twice this season and it came back and bit me. I won't pick against them here as they will get perhaps their biggest win of the year although it will be closer than the experts think.
Pick: Alabama
Eastern Michigan (5-2; 2-1) at (20) Western Michigan (7-0; 3-0)- 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Western Michigan
Prairie View A&M (4-2; 4-1) at Rice (0-6; 0-4)- 3:30
Pick: Rice
Tulane (3-3; 0-2) at Tulsa (4-2; 1-1)- 3:45, ESPNU
Pick: Tulsa
(19) Utah (6-1; 3-1) at UCLA (3-4; 1-3)- 4:00, FOX: If Josh Rosen were healthy, I would have considered the Bruins here. But give me the Utes and their stout defense to lead the way in Pasadena.
Pick: Utah
Middle Tennessee (4-2; 2-1) at Missouri (2-4; 0-3)- 4:00, SECN: I don't think it's crazy, but give me the Blue Raiders to pull off the upset in Columbia.
Pick: Middle Tennessee
Colorado State (3-4; 1-2) at UNLV (3-4; 2-1)- 5:30
Pick: Colorado State
Charlotte (2-5; 1-2) at Marshall (2-4; 1-1)- 5:30
Pick: Marshall
(17) Arkansas (5-2; 1-2) at (21) Auburn (4-2; 2-1)- 6:00, ESPN: This should be a fun game between these two divisional opponents. Give me the Tigers at home in a close one as Guz Malzhan continues his case to keep his job.
Pick: Auburn
Oregon State (2-4; 1-2) at (5) Washington (6-0; 3-0)- 6:30, Pac-12N
Pick: Washington
Louisiana Tech (4-3; 2-1) at FIU (3-4; 3-0)- 7:00, ESPN3
Pick: Louisiana Tech
Old Dominion (4-2; 2-0) at Western Kentucky (4-3; 2-1)- 7:00
Pick: Western Kentucky
UTEP (1-5; 0-3) at UTSA (3-3; 2-1)- 7:00
Pick: UTSA
East Carolina (2-4; 0-2) at Cincinnati (3-3; 0-3)- 7:00, CBSSN
Pick: Cincinnati
(11) Houston (6-1; 3-1) at SMU (2-4; 0-2) 7:00, ESPN2
Pick: Houston
Louisiana-Lafayette (2-4; 1-2) at Texas State (2-4; 0-2)- 7:00, ESPN3
Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette
Michigan State (2-4; 0-3) at Maryland (4-2; 1-2)- 7:30, BTN: It's amazing how far Sparty has fallen. Oof.
Pick: Maryland
Mississippi State (2-4; 1-2) at Kentucky (3-3; 2-2)- 7:30, SECN
Pick: Kentucky
Tennessee State (5-1; 2-1) at Vanderbilt (3-4; 1-3)- 7:30, ESPNU
Pick: Vanderbilt
Georgia Southern (3-3; 2-1) at New Mexico State (2-4; 1-2)- 8:00, ESPN3
Pick: Georgia Southern
(2) Ohio State (6-0; 3-0) at Penn State (4-2; 2-1)- 8:00, ABC: This could be danger for the Buckeyes as they head to Happy Valley at night, but I believe JT Barrett & Co get the job in a game that will be closer than the experts think. Don't forget, the Nittany Lions took the Buckeyes to overtime two years ago.
Pick: Ohio State
(16) Oklahoma (4-2; 3-0) at Texas Tech (3-3; 1-2)- 8:00, FOX: Expect the Red Raiders to play better than they did a week ago offensively, but Baker Mayfield and the Sooners get their fourth straight win.
Pick: Oklahoma
(23) Ole Miss (3-3; 1-2) at (25) LSU (4-2; 2-1)- 9:00, ESPN: This should be a great one in Death Valley. This was a hard call, but the Tigers just aren't easy to beat in Baton Rouge at night.
Pick: LSU
Louisiana-Monroe (2-4; 1-2) at New Mexico (3-3; 2-1)- 9:00
Pick: New Mexico
Washington State (4-2; 3-0) at Arizona State (5-2; 2-2)- 10:00, Pac-12N: This is a sneaky good game here. Give me the Cougars to get a big road win in Tempe.
Pick: Washington State
Fresno State (1-6; 0-3) at Utah State (2-4; 0-3)- 10:30, CBSSN
Pick: Utah State
Wyoming (4-2; 2-0) at Nevada (3-4; 1-2)- 10:30, ESPN2
Pick: Nevada

2016 MLB Postseason: League Championship Series Predictions
Here are my predictions for the MLB League Championship Series's to see who represents their league in the 2016 World Series.
American League Championship Series
(2) Cleveland Indians vs (WC1) Toronto Blue Jays: This should be an interesting series to watch. Cleveland is missing two of their best three starting pitchers in Danny Salzar and Carlos Corrasco and they still managed to sweep the Boston Red Sox in impressive fashion. Toronto's offense is arguably hitting their stride at the right time as they smacked the ball around great pitchers in Cole Hamels and Yu Darvish in their sweep of the Texas Rangers. A hot offense and a banged up starting staff isn't a recipe for success, so the Indians banged up rotation will finally come back to haunt them as the Jays will reach the World Series for the first time since 1994.
Prediction: Blue Jays in six games
ALCS MVP: Josh Donaldson
National League Championship Series
(1) Chicago Cubs vs (3) Los Angeles Dodgers: What a series we have here! Fox Sports must be doing jumping jacks with two big market teams full with big stars. The Cubs are coming off a great four-game series win over the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers are coming off a great five-game series win over the Washington Nationals. The big X-factor in this series is the Cubs left-handed starters and pitchers for that matter against the Dodgers, who cannot hit lefties. That said, I like the Cubs to go to their first World Series in a long, long time.
Prediction: Cubs in six games
NLCS MVP: Anthony Rizzo

2016 NFL Week 6 Picks
Here are my picks for week six of the 2016 NFL season.
Thursday, October 13th
Denver Broncos (4-1) vs San Diego Chargers (1-4)- 8:25, CBS/NFLN: Denver is coming off a disappointing home loss against the Atlanta Falcons. San Diego is coming off a brutal divisional road loss in Oakland against the Raiders. It's unknown yet again who will be under center for Denver, but I would feel better about the Broncos chances if it was Trevor Semien rather than Paxton Lynch, who struggled a bit in his first career start. Expect the Broncos defense to rebound against the banged up Chargers.
Prediction: Denver 24, San Diego 20.
Sunday October 16th
San Francisco 49ers (1-4) vs Buffalo Bills (3-2)- 1:00, FOX: San Francisco is coming off a bad home loss from Thursday night against the Arizona Cardinals. Buffalo is coming off an impressive road win in Los Angeles against the Rams. Colin Kaepernick is starting for the Niners this week, but the Bills have a lot of momentum going for them right now and they'll win their fourth straight game.
Prediction: Buffalo 30, San Francisco 16.
Philadelphia Eagles (3-1) vs Washington Redskins (3-2)- 1:00, FOX: This is a big NFC East game we got here. Philadelphia is coming off their first loss of the season in Detroit against the Lions. Washington is coming off a huge road win in Baltimore against the Ravens to get them above .500 for the first time all season. This was a tough call, but give me Kirk Cousins and the Redskins at home.
Prediction: Washington 27, Philadelphia 26.
Cleveland Browns (0-5) vs Tennessee Titans (2-3)- 1:00, CBS: Cleveland is coming off a home loss against the New England Patriots in Tom Brady's first game back. Tennessee is coming off a nice road win in Miami against the Dolphins. I like Marcus Mariota and the Titans to get back to the .500 mark here with a win.
Prediction: Tennessee 20, Cleveland 16.
Baltimore Ravens (3-2) vs New York Giants (2-3)- 1:00, CBS: Baltimore is coming off a tough home loss against the Washington Redskins in which they fired offensive coordinator Marc Trestman after. The Giants are coming off a bad road loss at Lambeau against the Packers in which the game wasn't as close as the final score indicated. Something tells me Eli Manning is poised to bounce back after receiving criticism on his recent play and will lead the Giants to a good home win.
Prediction: NY Giants 24, Baltimore 20.
Carolina Panthers (1-4) vs New Orleans Saints (1-3)- 1:00, FOX: Carolina is coming off a heartbreaking Monday might home loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which Cam Newton didn't play in due to a concussion. New Orleans is coming off their bye week and two weeks ago they won in San Diego against the Chargers. If Newton plays, I'm picking Carolina. If not, this pick will be changed.
Prediction: Carolina 30, New Orleans 27.
Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3) vs Chicago Bears (1-4)- 1:00, CBS: Jacksonville is coming off their bye week and two weeks ago, they won in London over their division rival Indianapolis Colts. Chicago is coming off a tough road loss in Indianapolis against the Colts. I like the Jags to pull off the road upset led by Blake Bortles and their up-and-coming defense.
Prediction: Jacksonville 26, Chicago 23.
Los Angeles Rams (3-2) vs Detroit Lions (2-3)- 1:00, FOX: Los Angeles is coming off a disappointing home loss against the Buffalo Bills. Detroit is coming off a nice home win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Something tells me the Rams steal this one on the road, led by their defense.
Prediction: Los Angeles 20, Detroit 17.
Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) vs Miami Dolphins (1-4)- 1:00, CBS: Pittsburgh is coming off a great home win over the New York Jets. Miami is coming off a horrible home loss against the Tennessee Titans. The Steelers haven't looked back since their bad loss in Philly in week three and they will continue to roll over a bad Dolphins team.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 36, Miami 17.
Cincinnati Bengals (2-3) vs New England Patriots (4-1)- 1:00, CBS: Cincinnati is coming off a bad road loss in Arlington against the Cowboys. New England is coming off a big win in Cleveland against the Browns in Tom Brady's return from suspension. The Bengals will be desperate, but they'll fall short yet again against an angry Brady who is poised to post big numbers after his suspension.
Prediction: New England 33, Cincinnati 23.
Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) vs Oakland Raiders (4-1)- 4:05, CBS- Kansas City is coming off their bye and two weeks ago, they had a disastrous loss in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. Oakland is coming off a nice divisional home win over the San Diego Chargers. This will be a great game and I see Derek Carr and the Raiders coming out on top in a shootout.
Prediction: Oakland 31, Kansas City 27.
Atlanta Falcons (4-1) vs Seattle Seahawks (3-1)- 4:25, FOX: Atlanta is coming off a fantastic road win in Denver against the Broncos. Seattle is coming off their bye week and two weeks ago they won in East Rutherford against the Jets. This should be another great game, but give me Seattle's defense to slow Matt Ryan and Julio Jones down.
Prediction: Seattle 27, Atlanta 23.
Dallas Cowboys (4-1) vs Green Bay Packers (3-1)- 4:25, FOX: Dallas is coming off a terrific home win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Green Bay is coming off a Sunday night home win over the New York Giants. Both teams defensively have been better than expected, but give me the great rookie duo of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott to pull off the daunting task of winning at Lambeau.
Prediction: Dallas 26, Green Bay 23.
Indianapolis Colts (2-3) vs Houston Texans (3-2)- 8:30, NBC: This one could very well help decide the AFC South. Indianapolis is coming off a home win over the Chicago Bears. Houston is coming off a brutal loss in Minneapolis against the Vikings. Give me the Texans at home, who are the more talented team even without JJ Watt.
Prediction: Houston 24, Indianapolis 21.
Monday, October 17th
New York Jets (1-4) vs Arizona Cardinals (2-3)- 8:30, ESPN: The Jets are coming off a bad loss in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. Arizona is coming off a nice Thursday night road win in Santa Clara against the 49ers. Darrelle Revis isn't the same guy as he was in years past and it will show yet again when Larry Fitzgerald will go crazy against Revis and that secondary. It won't matter who starts at quarterback and the Cardinals are my lock of the week.
Prediction: Arizona 34, NY Jets 20.
Friday, October 14th
Duke (3-3; 0-2) at (7) Louisville (4-1; 2-1)- 7:00, ESPN
Pick: Louisville
Memphis (4-1; 1-0) at Tulane (3-2; 0-1)- 8:00, ESPNU
Pick: Memphis
San Diego State (4-1; 1-0) at Fresno State (1-5; 0-2)- 10:00, CBSSN
Pick: San Diego State
Mississippi State (2-3; 1-2) at BYU (3-3)- 10:15, ESPN
Pick: BYU
Saturday, October 15th
Lafayette (1-5; 0-2) at Army (3-2)- 12:00
Pick: Army
Vanderbilt (2-4; 0-3) at Georgia (4-2; 2-2)- 12:00, SECN
Pick: Georgia
North Carolina State (4-1; 1-0) at (3) Clemson (6-0; 3-0)- 12:00, ABC
Pick: Clemson
Iowa (4-2; 2-1) at Purdue (3-2; 1-1)- 12:00, BTN
Pick: Iowa
Kansas State (3-2; 1-1) at (19) Oklahoma (3-2; 2-0)- 12:00, ESPN: Bill Snyder's club will be ready so, the Sooners better not sleep on these guys. Give me Baker Mayfield and the Sooners in a close one.
Pick: Oklahoma
(20) West Virginia (4-0; 1-0) at Texas Tech (3-2; 1-1)- 12:00, FS1: Here we got a nice quarterback duel between Skyler Howard and Patrick Mahomes. The problem for Mahomes's team is that their defense is among the worst in College Football. Give me the Mountaineers in a close one to remain unbeaten.
Pick: West Virginia
Illinois (1-4; 0-2) at Rutgers (2-4; 0-3)- 12:00, ESPNEWS: I can't pick a team that just lost 78-0 at home. Sorry.
Pick: Illinois
Minnesota (3-2; 0-2) at Maryland (4-1; 1-1)- 12:00, ESPN2: This should be an interesting Big-10 game. Give me the Terps to bounce back at home after a bad loss in Happy Valley.
Pick: Maryland
Georgia Southern (3-2; 1-1) at Georgia Tech (3-3; 1-3)- 12:30, ACCN: The Eagles are sneaky good and they'll keep it closer than the experts think.
Pick: Georgia Tech
Pittsburgh (4-2; 1-1) at Virginia (2-3; 1-0)- 12:30, ACCN: The Panthers are only three point favorites here, granted the Cavs are improved under Bronco Mendenhall. Give me the Panthers here and they'll cover the number too.
Pick: Pittsburgh
Eastern Michigan (4-2; 1-1) at Ohio (4-2; 2-0)- 2:00, ESPN3
Pick: Ohio
Kent State (2-4; 1-1) at Miami (OH) (0-6; 0-2)- 2:30, ESPN3
Pick: Kent State
Western Kentucky (3-3; 1-1) at Middle Tennessee (4-1; 2-0)- 2:30, ESPN3: Here's a decent C-USA game. The Blue Raiders are a team on the rise and they'll prove it again here against a Hilltoper team that isn't as good as it was the last few years.
Pick: Middle Tennessee
(24) Western Michigan (6-0; 2-0) at Akron (4-2; 2-0)- 3:30, CBSSN: The Broncos are ranked and they deserve it. The Zips are a decent team in the MAC too, but the Broncos will remain unbeaten for another week.
Pick: Western Michigan
Wake Forest (5-1; 1-1) at (14) Florida State (4-2; 1-2)- 3:30, ESPN: The Seminoles should roll against one of the more improved teams in the country in the Decon Demons, but I don't think it will be a blowout. The Demons will show their improvement, but just fall short.
Pick: Florida State
Ball State (3-3; 0-2) at Buffalo (1-4; 0-2)- 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Ball State
Bowling Green (1-5; 0-2) at Toledo (4-1; 1-0)- 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Toledo
Central Michigan (4-2; 1-1) at Northern Illinois (1-5; 1-1)- 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Central Michigan
Louisiana Tech (3-3; 2-1) at Massachusetts (1-5) 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Louisiana Tech
Kansas (1-4; 0-2) at (11) Baylor (5-0; 2-0)- 3:30, FS1
Pick: Baylor
(1) Alabama (6-0; 3-0) at (9) Tennessee (5-1; 2-1)- 3:30, CBS: This is definitely one of the biggest games of the weekend and perhaps of the season. Jalen Hurts and Josh Dobbs will put their points on the board, but something tells me that the Vols will get their biggest win of the season here.
Pick: Tennessee
USC (3-3; 2-2) at Arizona (2-4; 0-3) 3:30, FOX: Rich Rod's squad played tough against Washington and I expect them to keep it close here against Sam Darnold and the Trojans.
Pick: USC
New Mexico (2-3; 1-1) vs Air Force (4-1; 1-1)- 3:30, ESPNEWS: This game will be played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Give me the better team and that's the Falcons.
Pick: Air Force
Northwestern (2-3; 1-1) at Michigan State (2-3; 0-2)- 3:30, BTN: Sparty has to be desperate after three straight losses against a bad offensive team in Northwestern.
Pick: Michigan State
North Carolina (4-2; 2-1) at (16) Miami (FL) (4-1; 1-1)- 3:30, ABC/ESPN2: This is a game that could help decide who plays in the ACC title game from the Coastal Division. Give me the U to bounce back from their tough loss against Florida State.
Pick: Miami (FL)
Georgia State (1-4; 1-1) at Troy (4-1; 2-0)- 3:30, ESPN3
Pick: Troy
10/15- (10) Nebraska (5-0; 2-0) at Indiana (3-2; 1-1)- 3:30, ABC/ESPN2: This screams trap game do the Cornhuskers. I say they remain unbeaten, but the Hoosiers will keep this close.
Pick: Nebraska
(17) Virginia Tech (4-1; 2-0) at Syracuse (2-4; 0-2)- 3:45, ESPNU: This could be a letdown game for the Hokies, but the Orange will keep this close.
Pick: Virginia Tech
(21) Utah (5-1; 2-1) at Oregon State (2-3; 1-1)- 4:00, Pac-12N: This could be a trap game for the Utes and the Beavers did show me a lot in their win over Cal. This will be closer than the experts think, but the Utes get the win in Corvallis.
Pick: Utah
Missouri (2-3; 0-2) at (18) Florida (4-1; 2-1)- 4:00, SECN
Pick: Florida
New Mexico State (2-3; 1-1) at Idaho (3-3; 1-1)- 5:00, ESPN3
Pick: Idaho
FIU (2-4; 2-0) at Charlotte (2-4; 1-1)- 6:00
Pick: FIU
Florida Atlantic (1-5; 0-2) at Marshall (1-4; 0-1)- 7:00
Pick: Marshall
UTSA (2-3; 1-1) at Rice (0-6; 0-3)- 7:00
Pick: UTSA
(12) Ole Miss (3-2; 1-1) at (22) Arkansas (4-2; 0-2)- 7:00, ESPN: This should be a fun, high scoring game. Give me Chad Kelly and the Rebels to win their third straight game.
Pick: Ole Miss
Texas State (2-3; 1-1) at Louisiana-Monroe (1-4; 0-2)- 7:00, ESPN3
Pick: Louisiana-Monroe
South Alabama (3-2; 0-2) at Arkansas State (1-4; 1-0)- 7:00, ESPN3
Pick: Arkansas State
