2024 NFL Mock Draft: Eighth Edition

Here is the eighth edition of my 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

1. Chicago Bears (from Carolina Panthers)- Caleb Williams, Quarterback, USC: It's fair to say the Bears will take Williams here at one with Justin Fields off to Pittsburgh. Williams is thought out to be (by some) the best quarterback draft prospect since Andrew Luck with his great playmaking skills, but his off field attitude could be concerning.

2. Washington Commanders- Jayden Daniels, Quarterback, LSU: The consensus is that Daniels will be the pick here at 2, despite reportedly not wanting to go the nation's capital. You can make a case that Daniels has higher upside than Drake Maye and he showed that upside in his Heisman Trophy winning campaign.

3. New England Patriots- Drake Maye, Quarterback, North Carolina: The Patriots should take the quarterback that the Commanders do not take here at three and this case the pick should be Maye instead of trading down or taking Marvin Harrison Jr or even JJ McCarthy. He has the strength, size, and mobility to be a traditional franchise quarterback.

4. Arizona Cardinals- Marvin Harrison Jr., Wide Receiver, Ohio State: The Cardinals are doing cartwheels here landing perhaps the best wide receiver prospect since Calvin Johnson. Harrison Jr is a nightmare for defenses do to his side and athleticism.

5. Los Angeles Chargers- Joe Alt, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame: This pick feels almost certain to be traded and quite frankly, trading down is what the Chargers should do. Say if they stood here and took Alt, it would be a good pick with his consistency and he along with Rashawn Slater would be a good tandem protecting Justin Herbert.

6. New York Giants- Malik Nabers, Wide Receiver, LSU: Snagging Nabers here at six would be an outstanding pick for Joe Schoen and company, considering folks think Nabers could be picked before Marvin Harrison Jr. Nabers is known for his ability to make big plays with a lot of yardage and that is something that the Giants offense could use.

7. Tennessee Titans- Taliese Fuaga, Offensive Tackle, Oregon State: With Alt off the board in this hypothetical mock, the Titans go with arguably the next best option with Fuaga. He is a strong player and he is a perfect plug-and-play on the offensive line for a unit with a not a lot of durability.

8. Atlanta Falcons- Byron Murphy II, Defensive Tackle, Texas: Murphy here at eight would be a reach, but if the Falcons traded down for someone to jump the Bears for Rome Odunze, sure. Murphy has solid disruptive play and he would be great stopping the run in a pass rush that already has Grady Jarrett.

9. Chicago Bears- Rome Odunze, Wide Receiver, Washington: The Bears have a lot of options here, including a trade down. Odunze is someone with the speed and size and has ability to play through contact and would be yet another weapon for Caleb Williams.

10. New York Jets- Brock Bowers, Tight End, Georgia: The Jets go with the sexy choice here with Bowers, getting Aaron Rodgers another weapon to throw to. Bowers always stood out in school due to his size, athleticism, and his elite ball skills.

11. Minnesota Vikings- JJ McCarthy, Quarterback, Michigan: This selection via a trade up feels so obvious, that it may not be meant to be. The Vikings do have a need for a long term answer at the position and McCarthy doesn't really make mistakes and has good accuracy, despite not having a high ceiling.

12. Denver Broncos- Michael Penix Jr., Quarterback, Washington: The Broncos are easily the biggest wildcard of the first round and they can do anything, including taking a quarterback early. Penix has excellent arm strength and is always good at extending plays.

13. Las Vegas Raiders- JC Latham, Offensive Tackle, Alabama: The Raiders pass on a quarterback here and go with the tackle here in Latham ahead of the Saints. Latham is a versatile offensive lineman and is one of the stronger players in the draft.

14. New Orleans Saints- Olumuyiwa Fashanu, Offensive Tackle, Penn State: It feels obvious that the Saints are going to take a tackle here and they take the last of the top tackles on the board with Fashanu. He did not have a great season in college last year, but he has way more upside than he's showed.

15. Indianapolis Colts- Terrion Arnold, Cornerback, Alabama: Despite rumors and mocks having the Colts trading up or landing an offensive weapon, they land an elite cornerback here in Arnold. He is not known for discipline, but he has excellent ball production and is super athletic.

16. Seattle Seahawks- Troy Fatanu, Interior Offensive Line, Washington: This would be a solid pick for the Seahawks considering they need help on the offensive line with the free agency losses they suffered. Fatanu is versatile which should help his draft stock and he can play anywhere on the Seahawks line.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars- Quinyon Mitchell, Cornerback, Toledo: This would be a solid pick for the Jaguars considering the need in their secondary. Despite coming from a conference that flies under the radar, Mitchell is super aggressive with his moves and has good size.

18. Cincinnati Bengals- Brian Thomas Jr., Wide Receiver, LSU: If the Bengals take a wide receiver here, it likely means that the team is willing to move on from Tee Higgins. Thomas here may be a reach, but he has excellent size and speed and better run route skills than given credit for.

19. Los Angeles Rams- Dallas Turner, Edge Rusher, Alabama: This would be such a steal for the Rams landing a player that most people had going in the top ten not long ago. Turner has great speed and athleticism and he can also stop the run.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers- Amarius Mims, Offensive Tackle, Georgia: It would be very Steelers of them to take the former college teammate of Broderick Jones here, considering they have a long term need on the opposite side. Mims has a massive frame with mass and length and excels in pass protection.

21. Miami Dolphins- Jackson Powers-Johnson, Interior Offensive Line, Oregon: The Dolphins have several holes to fill after free agency departures and Powers-Johnson makes sense here to replace somewhat both Robert Hunt and Connor Williams. Powers-Johnson is a versatile player that has great stance and footwork, which helps his blocking ability.

22. Philadelphia Eagles- Nate Wiggins, Cornerback, Clemson: One of the areas of weakness for the Eagles is the secondary, so Wiggins here makes sense. He has excellent length and is very patient in pass coverage.

23. Minnesota Vikings (from Houston Texans via Cleveland Browns)- Laitu Latu, Edge Rusher, UCLA: Latu's draft range has been all over the place and Latu here would be a steal. Latu is a fast player, but his attacking abilities make him stand out and the Vikings can use his presence with Danielle Hunter gone.

24. Dallas Cowboys- Tyler Guyton, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma: The Cowboys can use some help on the exterior of their offensive line with Tyron Smith gone so Guyton here makes sense. He is somebody that is a work in progress, but he has great physical traits and is effective when asked to pull.

25. Green Bay Packers- Cooper DeJuan, Cornerback, Iowa: This would be a solid pick for the Packers, who can use a corner with the uncertain future of Jaire Alexander. DeJuan is super athletic and has rare mass and frame density for a cornerback.

26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Chop Robinson, Defensive End, Penn State: With Shaq Barrett leaving in free agency, the Bucs have an obvious need on the pass rush. Robinson has intense power and energy that could ignite a pass rush.

27. Arizona Cardinals (from Houston Texans)- Jared Verse, Edge Rush, Florida State: This would be a steal for the Cards grabbing Verse here. He is a plug-and-play pass rusher whom is athletic, is always aware, and super explosive to make his presence felt on opposing offensive lines.

28. Buffalo Bills- Jer'Zhan Newton, Defensive Tackle, Illinois: The Bills take a long term approach with this pick and go with Newton to shore up their defensive line. Newton has good size and technique, has alignment versatility, and is super durable, which is important for a team that has a lot of injury prone players.

29. Detroit Lions- Kool-Aid McKinstry, Cornerback, Alabama: This pick would be a good one for the Lions, considering the major need at the position. McKinstry brings a high football IQ as well as good length and physicality to that secondary.

30. Baltimore Ravens- Darius Robinson, Edge Rusher, Missouri: Here's somewhat of a curveball as the Ravens go with the pass rusher in Robinson. He has good run defense skills and he has good size and athleticism.

31. San Francisco 49ers- Graham Barton, Interior Offensive Line, Duke: This would be a solid selection for the 49ers, who need some long term solutions on their offensive line. He has good football IQ and good hand placement, but doesn't consistently dominate.

32. Kansas City Chiefs- Ladd McConkley, Wide Receiver, Georgia: Pick and choose any wide receiver that people have mocked in the late first round and I wouldn't blink. McConkley is somebody who's stock is rising and is getting a lot of praise from football people with his toughness and selflessness.
