2024 NFL Mock Draft: Seventh Edition

 Here is the seventh edition of my 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

1. Chicago Bears (from Carolina Panthers)- Caleb Williams, Quarterback, USC: It's fair to say the Bears will take Williams here at one with Justin Fields off to Pittsburgh. Williams is thought out to be (by some) the best quarterback draft prospect since Andrew Luck with his great playmaking skills, but his off field attitude could be concerning.

2. Washington Commanders- Jayden Daniels, Quarterback, LSU: The consensus is that Daniels will be the pick here at 2, despite reportedly not wanting to go the nation's capital. You can make a case that Daniels has higher upside than Drake Maye and he showed that upside in his Heisman Trophy winning campaign.

3. New England Patriots- Drake Maye, Quarterback, North Carolina: The Patriots should take the quarterback that the Commanders do not take here at three and this case the pick should be Maye instead of trading down or taking Marvin Harrison Jr or even JJ McCarthy. He has the strength, size, and mobility to be a traditional franchise quarterback.

4. Arizona Cardinals- Marvin Harrison Jr., Wide Receiver, Ohio State: The Cardinals are doing cartwheels here landing perhaps the best wide receiver prospect since Calvin Johnson. Harrison Jr is a nightmare for defenses do to his side and athleticism.

5. Los Angeles Chargers- Joe Alt, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame: This pick feels almost certain to be traded and quite frankly, trading down is what the Chargers should do. Say if they stood here and took Alt, it would be a good pick with his consistency and he along with Rashawn Slater would be a good tandem protecting Justin Herbert.

6. New York Giants- Malik Nabers, Wide Receiver, LSU: Snagging Nabers here at six would be an outstanding pick for Joe Schoen and company, considering folks think Nabers could be picked before Marvin Harrison Jr. Nabers is known for his ability to make big plays with a lot of yardage and that is something that the Giants offense could use.

7. Tennessee Titans- Rome Odunze, Wide Receiver, Washington: With popular mocked selection Joe Alt off the board, the Titans go a different direction and take the electric Odunze. He is someone with the speed and size and has ability to play through contact and would be fun to watch with Calvin Ridley in the new look Titans offense.

8. Atlanta Falcons- Laitu Latu, Edge Rusher, UCLA: Latu's draft range has been all over the place and some folks may think that this could be a reach. Latu is a fast player, but his attacking abilities make him stand out and the Falcons have lacked a player with his type of skill set.

9. Chicago Bears- Dallas Turner, Edge Rusher, Alabama: Whether it's at nine or a trade down, this would be a nice pick for the Bears considering the need at the pass rush. Turner has great speed and athleticism and he can also stop the run.

10. New York Jets- Brock Bowers, Tight End, Georgia: The Jets go with the sexy choice here with Bowers, getting Aaron Rodgers another weapon to throw to. Bowers always stood out in school due to his size, athleticism, and his elite ball skills.

11. Minnesota Vikings- JJ McCarthy, Quarterback, Michigan: This selection via a trade up feels so obvious, that it may not be meant to be. The Vikings do have a need for a long term answer at the position and McCarthy doesn't really make mistakes and has good accuracy, despite not having a high ceiling.

12. Denver Broncos- Michael Penix Jr., Quarterback, Washington: The Broncos are easily the biggest wildcard of the first round and they can do anything, including taking a quarterback early. Penix has excellent arm strength and is always good at extending plays.

13. Las Vegas Raiders- Taliese Fuaga, Offensive Tackle, Oregon State: The Raiders pass on a quarterback for now and go with a tackle in Fuaga. He is a strong player and he is a perfect plug-and-play on the offensive line for a unit with a not a lot of durability.

14. New Orleans Saints- Olumuyiwa Fashanu, Offensive Tackle, Penn State: It feels obvious that the Saints are going to take a tackle here and they take the last of the top tackles on the board with Fashanu. He did not have a great season in college last year, but he has way more upside than he's showed.

15. Indianapolis Colts- Quinyon Mitchell, Cornerback, Toledo: This would be a solid pick for the Jaguars considering the need in their secondary. Despite coming from a conference that flies under the radar, Mitchell is super aggressive with his moves and has good size.

16. Seattle Seahawks- Troy Fatanu, Interior Offensive Line, Washington: This would be a solid pick for the Seahawks considering they need help on the offensive line with the free agency losses they suffered. Fatanu is versatile which should help his draft stock and he can play anywhere on the Seahawks line.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars- Cooper DeJuan, Cornerback, Iowa: There's a possibility that DeJuan falls further due to the leg injury he suffered last season. DeJuan is super athletic and has rare mass and frame density for a cornerback.

18. Cincinnati Bengals- Byron Murphy II, Defensive Tackle, Texas: This pick would make sense for the Bengals to help replace the free agent loss of DJ Reader. Murphy has solid disruptive play and he would be great stopping the run in a pass rush that already has Trey Hendrickson on the edge.

19. Los Angeles Rams- Terrion Arnold, Cornerback, Alabama: The Rams landing Arnold, who many think could go in the early teens, would be a steal here. Arnold is not known for discipline, but he has excellent ball production and is super athletic.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers- JC Latham, Offensive Tackle, Alabama: The Steelers landing Latham, who many people see as a possible top ten pick, would be a steal here at 20. Latham is a versatile offensive lineman and is one of the stronger players in the draft.

21. Miami Dolphins- Jer'Zhan Newton, Defensive Line, Illinois: This pick makes a lot of sense for the Dolphins considering the free agent loss of Christian Wilkins. Newton has good size and technique, has alignment versatility, and is super durable, which is important for a team that has a lot of injury prone players.

22. Philadelphia Eagles- Amarius Mims, Offensive Tackle, Georgia: The Eagles think long term with this selection and go with the tackle in Mims. He has a massive frame with mass and length and excels in pass protection.

23. Minnesota Vikings (from Houston Texans via Cleveland Browns)- Jared Verse, Edge Rush, Florida State: A lot of folks think that this selection will be made by another team, but if the Vikings were to stay here, Verse makes a ton of sense with the loss of Danielle Hunter. Verse is a plug-and-play pass rusher whom is athletic, is always aware, and super explosive to make his presence felt on opposing offensive lines.

24. Dallas Cowboys- Graham Barton, Interior Offensive Line, Duke: The Cowboys you'd think they'd go offensive line here with the free agent losses they've had and Barton would be a fine selection. He has good football IQ and good hand placement, but doesn't consistently dominate.

25. Green Bay Packers- Nate Wiggins, Cornerback, Clemson: The Packers have a few directions they'd conceivably go with and cornerback makes sense with Jaire Alexander's uncertain future. Wiggins has excellent length and is very patient in pass coverage.

26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Chop Robinson, Defensive End, Penn State: With Shaq Barrett leaving in free agency, the Bucs have an obvious need on the pass rush. Robinson has intense power and energy that could ignite a pass rush.

27. Arizona Cardinals (from Houston Texans)- Kool-Aid McKinstry, Cornerback, Alabama: This would be a hell of a pick for the Cardinals, who are thin at corner and McKinstry could go higher than this. He brings a high football IQ as well as good length and physicality to that secondary.

28. Buffalo Bills- Brian Thomas Jr., Wide Receiver, LSU: The Bills getting Thomas at 28 won't happen, but it could in a trade up scenario. Thomas has excellent size and speed and better run route skills than given credit for.

29. Detroit Lions- Zach Frazier, Center, West Virginia: A new name enters the fray come draft week here with Frazier, who would be an interesting fit with the Lions. He is a versatile player and is super patient in pass protection and is very patient.

30. Baltimore Ravens- Tyler Guyton, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma: The Ravens can use some help on the exterior of their offensive line with Morgan Moses being dealt so Guyton here makes sense. He is somebody that is a work in progress, but he has great physical traits and is effective when asked to pull.

31. San Francisco 49ers- Jackson Powers-Johnson, Interior Offensive Line, Oregon: This would be a solid selection for the 49ers, who need some long term solutions on their offensive line. Powers-Johnson is a versatile player that has great stance and footwork, which helps his blocking ability.

32. Kansas City Chiefs- Ladd McConkley, Wide Receiver, Georgia: Pick and choose any wide receiver that people have mocked in the late first round and I wouldn't blink. McConkley is somebody who's stock is rising and is getting a lot of praise from football people with his toughness and selflessness.
