Here are my predictions for the 2014 MLB Wild Card games.
American League
Oakland Athletics vs Kansas City Royals- This is an intriguing game in many standpoints. This is the first time Kansas City is hosting a playoff game since 1985 and Oakland is in the postseason for the third straight season. The pitching matchup is outstanding with James Shields going for Kansas City and Jon Lester going for Oakland. Something hilarious about the pitching matchup is that both pitchers will be free agents after the season, so Shields and Lester may be on different teams next season. Neither of these two teams have great offenses so, expect a low scoring game. Prediction: Oakland 3, Kansas City 2.
National League
San Francisco Giants vs Pittsburgh Pirates- San Francisco is back in the postseason after missing last season and Pittsburgh is in the post season for the second straight year. Madison Bumgarner is on the mound for San Francisco and Edinson Volquez is pitching for Pittsburgh. The offense for both teams are solid with MVP candidates Buster Posey and Andrew McCutchen leading the way for San Francisco and Pittsburgh, respectively. Expect a very entertaining and close game. Prediction: San Francisco 6, Pittsburgh 5.
