2014 NFL Week 1 Picks

Here are my picks for Week 1 of the 2014 NFL Season.

September 4th
Green Bay Packers vs Seattle Seahawks- The rematch of the Fail Mary. This game should be very interesting because Seattle is a better team then they were at the time at the Fail Mary. Aaron Rodgers versus the Seahawks defense is very fascinating to see. Expect Seattle to win a very entertaining game with some help from the so called "12th man". Prediction: Seattle 28, Green Bay 20.

September 7th
New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons- An underrated division rival game kicks off with one team looking poised for a Super Bowl run and another team looking to bounce back after a disastrous season from a year ago. This is a big game in a standpoint of whether Atlanta is going to be good or not. This was a tough call, but expect New Orleans to win a close one. Prediction: New Orleans 37, Atlanta 33.

Minnesota Vikings vs St. Louis Rams- This game is one of the least interesting games of the afternoon slate considering that Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is out for the year for a torn ACL. Expect Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to dominate and for Minnesota to pull off the week one upset. Prediction: Minnesota 27, St. Louis 20.

Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers- Will we see Johnny Manziel make his NFL debut in this game? Maybe. Who knows. Pittsburgh and quarterback Ben Rothlisberger will be motivated at home and they will come out with a bang. Prediction: Pittsburgh 30, Cleveland 13.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Philadelphia Eagles- This game is not interesting to me what so ever. Expect Philadelphia and quarterback Nick Foles and running back LeSean McCoy to absolutely dominate against Chad Henne and a bad Jaguars team. Philadelphia is my lock of the week. Prediction: Eagles 45, Jacksonville 16.

Oakland Raiders vs New York Jets- The worst team in the league versus a team that is on the rise that did everything to improve their team. Oakland is starting rookie quarterback Derek Carr, which was a wise move. Expect the new additions on the Jets to have nice debuts. Prediction: NY Jets 27, Oakland 17.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Baltimore Ravens- This game is the best of the afternoon games for sure. Two division rivals who are both good teams for sure with both teams looking for something to prove. Despite the loss of running back Ray Rice, expect Baltimore to win a very close game. Prediction: Baltimore 23, Cincinnati 20.

Buffalo Bills vs Chicago Bears- This game is interesting in a standpoint of that it's the NFL debut of rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins and the fact that this Chicago team has lofty expectations and the potential of how good can this offense be. Expect Chicago to dominate. Prediction: Chicago 40, Buffalo 13.

Washington Redskins vs Houston Texans- This is a very interesting game in a standpoint of what is this new-look Washington team look like and the NFL debut of rookie linebacker Jadeveon Clowney on Houston's side. Expect home field advantage in Houston to be monstrous and for Clowney and defensive end JJ Watt to shine. Prediction: Houston 26, Washington 20.

Tennessee Titans vs Kansas City Chiefs- This game is probably going to be weird. It has all of the makings for it. People's expectations for both teams are mixed, whether they are playoff teams or a horrible team. Expect Kansas City to win a close one. Prediction: Kansas City 17, Tennessee 14.

New England Patriots vs Miami Dolphins- This is an interesting game considering the expectations for this Miami team and whether New England quarterback Tom Brady and this team can have a big season in them. Expect New England to win a close game. Prediction: New England 24, Miami 20.

Carolina Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers- This division matchup is intriguing considering the expectations for each team. Carolina is bound for regressing while Tampa Bay is poised to have a great season. Expect new Tampa head coach Lovie Smith's debut with this team to be a great one. Prediction: Tampa Bay 30, Carolina 17.

San Francisco 49ers vs Dallas Cowboys- This is the most interesting game in a standpoint of popularity for the teams and whether San Francisco's off field issues will have an impact on the field or not. Expect a very high scoring game considering Dallas's woeful defense. Prediction: San Francisco 44, Dallas 36.

Indianapolis Colts vs Denver Broncos- What a great game to start the Sunday night football slate of games throughout the season! Two of the best five teams in the AFC facing off with each team looking for something to prove. Expect Denver and quarterback Peyton Manning to come out on top. Prediction: Denver 41, Indianapolis 31.

September 8th
New York Giants vs Detroit Lions- This is one of two intriguing Monday Night football games to start the season. It's interesting to see this new look Giants offense for the first time in a meaningful game and how good this Detroit team can be with new head coach Jim Caldwell. Expect Detroit to win a close game. Prediction: Detroit 27, NY Giants 23.

San Diego Chargers vs Arizona Cardinals- This is a fascinating game to close out week one with considering how good these teams were a year ago. Now, both teams have high expectations in which either team misses the playoffs it is a failure. I like San Diego in this matchup slightly better considering that Arizona's defense will be missing some key players. Prediction: San Diego 31, Arizona 23.
