2014 NFL Week 4 Picks

Here are my picks for week four of the 2014 NFL season.

Thursday, September 25th
(1-2) New York Giants vs (1-2) Washington Redskins: This is a very intriguing game between these NFC East teams considering how well both teams had played last week. Giants running back Rashad Jennings had a career game last week against Houston while Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins had a career game in Philadelphia. Washington cornerback DeAngelo Hall is out for the season and I believe Giants quarterback Eli Manning will take advantage if it, as well as his receivers. Prediction: NY Giants 27, Washington 23.

Sunday, September 28th
(1-2) Miami Dolphins vs (0-3) Oakland Raiders: This game is being played in London. These are not good teams playing out there overseas but I expect this game to be quite entertaining. Miami has fallen off since week one and Oakland did not play as poorly as their record says last week in Foxborough. Expect Oakland to get their first win. Prediction: Oakland 24, Miami 23.

(2-1) Carolina Panthers vs (2-1) Baltimore Ravens: This is an intriguing matchup considering Baltimore receiver Steve Smith is facing his former team. Another aspect is that we don't know how good either of these teams are either. Carolina is coming off a beat down of Pittsburgh and Baltimore is coming off a nice road win in Cleveland. Expect Baltimore to put together another solid win. Prediction: Baltimore 26, Carolina 20.

(0-3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs (2-1) Pittsburgh Steelers: Tampa Bay has been the most disappointing team in the league through three weeks from expectations standpoint. Pittsburgh is one of those teams like Baltimore and the Giants that we don't know what to expect every week from. Expect Pittsburgh to show up like they did last week in Carolina rather than when they flopped in Baltimore. Prediction: Pittsburgh 33, Tampa Bay 16.

(1-2) Green Bay Packers vs (2-1) Chicago Bears: A great division rivalry with both teams looking to prove. Green Bay wants to bounce back from a bad loss in Detroit and Chicago wants to continue winning after losing week one against Buffalo. I do expect Green Bay and their offense to get back on track this week, but I think Chicago steals this one. Prediction: Chicago 34, Green Bay 31.

(2-1) Buffalo Bills vs (2-1) Houston Texans: Buffalo has shown signs of coming back to earth after winning their first two games against Chicago and Miami. Houston quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick struggled in New Jersey against the Giants. Expect Fitzpatrick and the rest of the Houston team to bounce back and win at home. Prediction: Houston 20, Buffalo 16.

(1-2) Tennessee Titans vs (1-2) Indianapolis Colts: Indianapolis finally got a nice win after starting 0-2 in Jacksonville. Tennessee, like Buffalo, has come back to earth after a nice win in Kansas City. Expect Indianapolis to play well again. Prediction: Indianapolis 30, Tennessee 17.

(2-1) Detroit Lions vs (1-2) New York Jets: Detroit had a good win at home against Green Bay and the Jets are coming off a tough loss against Chicago. I do not trust Detroit on the road, so expect the Jets to bounce back and pull this game out behind their good defensive front. Prediction: NY Jets 23, Detroit 20.

(0-3) Jacksonville Jaguars vs (2-1) San Deigo Chargers: Jacksonville is arguably the worst team in the league and San Diego is a top-ten team. Rookie quarterback Blake Bortles is getting his first carer start for Jacksonville. Expect San Diego to cruise to another impressive win. Prediction: San Diego 37, Jacksonville 20.

(2-1) Atlanta Falcons vs (1-2) Minnesota Vikings: Atlanta is coming off a resounding win against Tampa Bay and Minnesota is coming off a loss in New Orleans. Minnesota quarterback Matt Cassel is out with a broken foot and rookie Teddy Bridgewater will get his first career start. Expect this game to be closer than many people think and Atlanta to pull this one out. Prediction: Atlanta 31, Minnesota 26.

(3-0) Philadelphia Eagles vs (1-2) San Francisco 49ers: This is the best game of the late-afternoon games. Philadelphia is looking to stay undefeated and San Francisco is looking to solve their issues they had the pervious two weeks against Chicago and Arizona. The winner of this game would not surprise me by any means, but San Francisco is hungry and they'll be playing desperate. Prediction: San Francisco 31, Philadelphia 27.

(1-2) New Orleans Saints vs (2-1) Dallas Cowboys: Another great matchup to look forward to on Sunday Night Football! New Orleans is poised to get back to .500 and Dallas is poised to pull off an upset. Expect a shootout, but New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees to out-duel Dallas quarterback Tony Romo for the road victory. Prediction: New Orleans 38, Dallas 34.

(2-1) New England Patriots vs (1-2) Kansas City Chiefs: This is an interesting matchup between two teams that we don't know what to make of yet. New England is coming off a win against Oakland in which they didn't look as impressive as they did against Minnesota two weeks ago. Kansas City had an impressive road win in Miami after starting 0-2. Expect Kansas City to pull out a close game. Prediction: Kansas City 27, New England 24.
