Here are my MLB Awards and miscellaneous for the 2014 season.
Awards
American League MVP- Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels: This one was a no-brainer. Trout is the best all-around player in the game and with the Angels in October baseball now, he deserves this honor. Runner up: Nelson Cruz, Baltimore Orioles.
National League MVP- Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers: It's very rare to see a pitcher win an MVP trophy. In Kershaw's case, he had a historic regular season, which is why he deserves this honor. Plus, he is the best pitcher in the game right now. Runner up: Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates.
American League CY Young- Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners: This one was a tough call for me. Despite a few rough outings late in the season, Hernandez has carried his team, whenever he was on the mound. Runner up: Corey Kluber, Cleveland Indians.
National League CY Young- Kershaw. See National League MVP. Runner up: Johnny Cueto, Cincinnati Reds.
American League Rookie of the Year- Jose Abreu, Chicago White Sox: Abreu in his first big league season, ran away with this honor considering the injury to Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka and Boston's Xander Boegarts not living up to expectations. Runner up: Matt Shoemaker, Los Angeles Angels.
National League Rookie of the Year- Jacob deGrom, New York Mets: deGrom is critical to the New York Met's future. He was lights out in his rookie season, just see how many Miami Marlins he struck out to start a game. Runner up: Billy Hamilton, Cincinnati Reds.
American League Manager of the Year- Buck Sholwalter, Baltimore Orioles: Despite losing third baseman Manny Machado and catcher Matt Weiters to injury and then first baseman Chris Davis got suspended, Sholwalter did a great job keeping this team afloat and leading them to a division title. Runner up: Mike Soscia, Los Angeles Angels.
National League Manager of the Year- Bruce Bochy, San Francisco Giants: Bochy has San Francisco in the postseason after missing the playoffs a year ago. He deserves the honor this season considering the inconsistency of pitcher Tim Lincecum and the injuries to starter Matt Cain and outfielder Angel Pagan, this team has found ways to win. Runner up: Matt Williams, Washington Nationals.
American League Comeback Player of the Year- Albert Pujols, Los Angeles Angels: After two disappointing seasons to start his Angels career, he quietly had a bounce back season. Runner up: Michael Pineda, New York Yankees.
National League Comeback Player of the Year- Matt Kemp, Los Angeles Dodgers: A big second half for Kemp is what really made him run away with these honors after a injury-plagued 2013. Runner up: Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers.
Miscellaneous
The team that exceeded expectations this season- Seattle Mariners: Seattle was projected to win 70-something wins. Instead, they were in contention until the regular seasons final day. This team has a bright future and Seattle should be proud of how this season went. Runner up: Milwaukee Brewers.
Most disappointing team- Texas Rangers: Injuries derailed Texas's season, which made this season a one to forget. Third baseman Adrian Beltre, who stayed healthy the whole season, still had a good season. Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo was a massive disappointment before his injury and Texas may regret trading for injured first baseman Prince Fielder now since his game is declining. Texas will do everything they can to turn things around next season. Runner up: Boston Red Sox.
Most improved player- Corey Kluber, Cleveland Indians: With Kluber's outstanding season, he is in the conversation for the American League Cy Young award. Kluber has cemented him self as one of the elite pitchers in this game. Runner up: Michael Brantley, Cleveland Indians.
Most disappointing player- Xander Boegarts, Boston Red Sox: Expectations for Boegarts were sky high coming into this season. He was one of the preseason favorites for American League rookie of the year, but instead, he turned out to disappoint. Runner up: David Wright, New York Mets.

2014 MLB Wild Card Games Predictions
Here are my predictions for the 2014 MLB Wild Card games.
American League
Oakland Athletics vs Kansas City Royals- This is an intriguing game in many standpoints. This is the first time Kansas City is hosting a playoff game since 1985 and Oakland is in the postseason for the third straight season. The pitching matchup is outstanding with James Shields going for Kansas City and Jon Lester going for Oakland. Something hilarious about the pitching matchup is that both pitchers will be free agents after the season, so Shields and Lester may be on different teams next season. Neither of these two teams have great offenses so, expect a low scoring game. Prediction: Oakland 3, Kansas City 2.
National League
San Francisco Giants vs Pittsburgh Pirates- San Francisco is back in the postseason after missing last season and Pittsburgh is in the post season for the second straight year. Madison Bumgarner is on the mound for San Francisco and Edinson Volquez is pitching for Pittsburgh. The offense for both teams are solid with MVP candidates Buster Posey and Andrew McCutchen leading the way for San Francisco and Pittsburgh, respectively. Expect a very entertaining and close game. Prediction: San Francisco 6, Pittsburgh 5.

2014 NFL Week 4 Picks
Here are my picks for week four of the 2014 NFL season.
Thursday, September 25th
(1-2) New York Giants vs (1-2) Washington Redskins: This is a very intriguing game between these NFC East teams considering how well both teams had played last week. Giants running back Rashad Jennings had a career game last week against Houston while Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins had a career game in Philadelphia. Washington cornerback DeAngelo Hall is out for the season and I believe Giants quarterback Eli Manning will take advantage if it, as well as his receivers. Prediction: NY Giants 27, Washington 23.
Sunday, September 28th
(1-2) Miami Dolphins vs (0-3) Oakland Raiders: This game is being played in London. These are not good teams playing out there overseas but I expect this game to be quite entertaining. Miami has fallen off since week one and Oakland did not play as poorly as their record says last week in Foxborough. Expect Oakland to get their first win. Prediction: Oakland 24, Miami 23.
(2-1) Carolina Panthers vs (2-1) Baltimore Ravens: This is an intriguing matchup considering Baltimore receiver Steve Smith is facing his former team. Another aspect is that we don't know how good either of these teams are either. Carolina is coming off a beat down of Pittsburgh and Baltimore is coming off a nice road win in Cleveland. Expect Baltimore to put together another solid win. Prediction: Baltimore 26, Carolina 20.
(0-3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs (2-1) Pittsburgh Steelers: Tampa Bay has been the most disappointing team in the league through three weeks from expectations standpoint. Pittsburgh is one of those teams like Baltimore and the Giants that we don't know what to expect every week from. Expect Pittsburgh to show up like they did last week in Carolina rather than when they flopped in Baltimore. Prediction: Pittsburgh 33, Tampa Bay 16.
(1-2) Green Bay Packers vs (2-1) Chicago Bears: A great division rivalry with both teams looking to prove. Green Bay wants to bounce back from a bad loss in Detroit and Chicago wants to continue winning after losing week one against Buffalo. I do expect Green Bay and their offense to get back on track this week, but I think Chicago steals this one. Prediction: Chicago 34, Green Bay 31.
(2-1) Buffalo Bills vs (2-1) Houston Texans: Buffalo has shown signs of coming back to earth after winning their first two games against Chicago and Miami. Houston quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick struggled in New Jersey against the Giants. Expect Fitzpatrick and the rest of the Houston team to bounce back and win at home. Prediction: Houston 20, Buffalo 16.
(1-2) Tennessee Titans vs (1-2) Indianapolis Colts: Indianapolis finally got a nice win after starting 0-2 in Jacksonville. Tennessee, like Buffalo, has come back to earth after a nice win in Kansas City. Expect Indianapolis to play well again. Prediction: Indianapolis 30, Tennessee 17.
(2-1) Detroit Lions vs (1-2) New York Jets: Detroit had a good win at home against Green Bay and the Jets are coming off a tough loss against Chicago. I do not trust Detroit on the road, so expect the Jets to bounce back and pull this game out behind their good defensive front. Prediction: NY Jets 23, Detroit 20.
(0-3) Jacksonville Jaguars vs (2-1) San Deigo Chargers: Jacksonville is arguably the worst team in the league and San Diego is a top-ten team. Rookie quarterback Blake Bortles is getting his first carer start for Jacksonville. Expect San Diego to cruise to another impressive win. Prediction: San Diego 37, Jacksonville 20.
(2-1) Atlanta Falcons vs (1-2) Minnesota Vikings: Atlanta is coming off a resounding win against Tampa Bay and Minnesota is coming off a loss in New Orleans. Minnesota quarterback Matt Cassel is out with a broken foot and rookie Teddy Bridgewater will get his first career start. Expect this game to be closer than many people think and Atlanta to pull this one out. Prediction: Atlanta 31, Minnesota 26.
(3-0) Philadelphia Eagles vs (1-2) San Francisco 49ers: This is the best game of the late-afternoon games. Philadelphia is looking to stay undefeated and San Francisco is looking to solve their issues they had the pervious two weeks against Chicago and Arizona. The winner of this game would not surprise me by any means, but San Francisco is hungry and they'll be playing desperate. Prediction: San Francisco 31, Philadelphia 27.
(1-2) New Orleans Saints vs (2-1) Dallas Cowboys: Another great matchup to look forward to on Sunday Night Football! New Orleans is poised to get back to .500 and Dallas is poised to pull off an upset. Expect a shootout, but New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees to out-duel Dallas quarterback Tony Romo for the road victory. Prediction: New Orleans 38, Dallas 34.
(2-1) New England Patriots vs (1-2) Kansas City Chiefs: This is an interesting matchup between two teams that we don't know what to make of yet. New England is coming off a win against Oakland in which they didn't look as impressive as they did against Minnesota two weeks ago. Kansas City had an impressive road win in Miami after starting 0-2. Expect Kansas City to pull out a close game. Prediction: Kansas City 27, New England 24.

2014 NFL Week 3 Picks
Here are my picks for week three of the 2014 NFL season.
Thursday, September 18th
(0-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs (1-1) Atlanta Falcons: This Thursday night we have division rivals facing off that both came off poor performances from the previous week. Expect Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan to have a great as well as his supporting cast behind the home field advantage they have and for them to bounce back and win. Prediction: Atlanta 30, Tampa Bay 17.
Sunday, September 21st
(1-1) San Diego Chargers vs (2-0) Buffalo Bills: This is one of the more underrated games of the early-afternoon slate considering San Diego is coming off a big win against the defending champs and Buffalo is surprisingly undefeated. This should be a great game, but expect San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers to make big plays late to lead San Diego to their second straight win. Prediction: San Diego 23, Buffalo 20.
(1-1) Washington Redskins vs (2-0) Philadelphia Eagles: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered a dislocated ankle and now enter in backup Kirk Cousins, who actually played well last week after Griffin left the game. Philadelphia is coming off a big road win in Indianapolis and expect them to keep on rolling. Prediction: Philadelphia 40, Washington 31.
(1-1) Dallas Cowboys vs (1-1) St. Louis Rams: Dallas got a nice road win in Tennessee last week while St. Louis won in Tampa Bay against a struggling Buccaneers team. Expect a close game between these two, but for Dallas quarterback Tony Romo to come up clutch. Prediction: Dallas 24, St. Louis 16.
(2-0) Houston Texans vs (0-2) New York Giants: Houston is undefeated and coming off a nice win in Oakland, but Oakland is the worst team in the league. The Giants are coming off a brutal loss against a very good Arizona team. This should be an interesting game by all means. Expect Houston defensive end JJ Waat to have a great game, but Houston to fall short because I expect quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to struggle in a hostile environment in New Jersey, in which the Giants will get their first win of the year. Prediction: NY Giants 24, Houston 20.
(1-1) Minnesota Vikings vs (0-2) New Orleans Saints: This is a very big game. New Orleans is winless and Minnesota is coming off a loss against a desperate New England team. Speaking of desperate, New Orleans must play like their desperate because they cannot afford to start their season 0-3 and this is a must win for them. Prediction: New Orleans 38, Minnesota 13.
(1-1) Tennessee Titans vs (2-0) Cincinnati Bengals: Cincinnati is coming off a very impressive win over Atlanta in a game which wide receiver AJ Green left with an injury. Tennessee is coming of a disappointing loss against a mediocre Dallas team. Expect Cincinnati to win with another impressive defensive performance. Prediction: Cincinnati 30, Tennessee 17.
(1-1) Baltimore Ravens vs (1-1) Cleveland Browns: This should actually be a pretty good game. Cleveland and Baltimore are both coming off impressive home wins over Pittsburgh and New Orleans respectively. I really like Cleveland in this matchup and expect their defense to come up big a few times for yet another win. Prediction: Cleveland 27, Baltimore 24.
(1-1) Green Bay Packers vs (1-1) Detroit Lions: Green Bay is coming off a come from behind win at home against the Jets and Detroit is coming off a bad loss in Carolina. Green Bay has not been impressive so far and Detroit is poised for this game and expect Detroit receiver Calvin Johnson to have a big day and for Detroit to win. Prediction: Detroit 35, Green Bay 31.
(0-2) Indianapolis Colts vs (0-2) Jacksonville Jaguars: This matchup isn't very intriguing to me. Two winless teams, which one team was not expected to start winless and the other team is just awful. Expect Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck to light it up against Jacksonville's defense just like Washington backup Kirk Cousins did last week. Prediction: Indianapolis 27, Jacksonville 14.
(0-2) Oakland Raiders vs (1-1) New England Patriots: This matchup is not very fascinating either. It's the leagues worst team versus one of the AFC's best teams. New England is coming off a bounce back win in Minnesota and Oakland is coming off a bad loss against Houston. Expect New England to win in dominant. Prediction: New England 38, Oakland 17.
(1-1) San Francisco 49ers vs (2-0) Arizona Cardinals: This is the most underrated game of the late-afternoon games. San Francisco is coming off a brutal loss in their home opener against Chicago and Arizona is coming off an impressive win in New Jersey against the Giants. Expect Arizona to win a very close game, while taking advantage of San Francisco's issues. Prediction: Arizona 27, San Francisco 23.
(2-0) Denver Broncos vs (1-1) Seattle Seahawks: It's the Super Bowl rematch between the leagues best two teams. Denver is coming off a win against a mediocre Kansas City team and Seattle is coming off a loss against a good San Diego team. Don't expect this to be a repeat of the Super Bowl, but expect the so called "twelfth man" to help Seattle to another good win over Denver. Prediction: Seattle 40, Denver 20.
(0-2) Kansas City Chiefs vs (1-1) Miami Dolphins: Miami is coming off a bad loss in Buffalo while Kansas City is coming off a loss in Denver, in which they played pretty well. Expect Kansas City to get a nice road win against a mediocre and overrated Miami team. Prediction: Kansas City 23, Miami 17.
(1-1) Pittsburgh Steelers vs (2-0) Carolina Panthers: Carolina has surprised some folks by starting 2-0 because almost everyone, including myself thought Carolina was bound for regression. Pittsburgh had one dominant half two weeks ago against Cleveland, but have struggled ever since. Expect Carolina's defense to step up and keep this fast start going. Prediction: Carolina 33, Pittsburgh 27.
(1-1) Chicago Bears vs (1-1) New York Jets: Chicago is coming off an impressive come from behind win in San Francisco and the Jets are coming off a loss in Green Bay in which Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and defensive end Sheldon Richardson called an ill advised time out that cost them the game. Expect Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler to light it up with receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery against a weak Jets secondary like Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers did last week with his receiver, Jordy Nelson. Prediction: Chicago 30, NY Jets 21.

2014 NFL Week 2 Picks
Here are my picks for the second week of the 2014 NFL Season.
Thursday, September 11th
(1-0) Pittsburgh Steelers vs (0-1) Baltimore Ravens: One of the good rivalries in the league will kick off the week with a divisional matchup. In the wake of the Ray Rice release, Baltimore is trying to rally it's troops together and out this behind them. I personally do not see this Rice drama going away anytime soon and it will derail Baltimore's play badly (see: Miami bullying scandal last season). I'm picking Pittsburgh not only because of Baltimore's issues, but because Pittsburgh looked decent last week against Cleveland despite blowing a big lead. Prediction: Pittsburgh 24, Baltimore 17.
Sunday, September 14th
(1-0) Miami Dolphins vs (1-0) Buffalo Bills: Two of the leagues biggest surprises of last weekend- Miami and Buffalo face off in a crucial division game. This is a tough call to pick since they both beat two contenders last week in New England and Chicago, respectively. I'm going to go with Miami and their revamped offensive line and a good defense to force Buffalo quarterback EJ Manuel into making mistakes. Prediction: Miami 26, Buffalo 20.
(0-1) Jacksonville Jaguars vs (0-1) Washington Redskins: Both of these teams did not look good in their week one performances, despite Jacksonville having a 17 point lead on Philadelphia at the half. Again, another tough call here, so I am going with Washington, but don't be surprised if Jacksonville pulls the upset off. Prediction: Washington 23, Jacksonville 20.
(0-1) Dallas Cowboys vs (1-0) Tennessee Titans: Tennessee won last week against a mediocre Kansas City team and meanwhile Dallas looked horrendous against San Francisco, who was missing some key players. I'm picking Tennessee because I though quarterback Jake Locker looked decent, while Dallas quarterback Tony Romo looked out of sync. Prediction: Tennessee 27, Dallas 20.
(1-0) Arizona Cardinals vs (0-1) New York Giants: Both teams did not look good offensively last week, but Arizona's defense is what earned them their week one win over San Diego. Detroit receiver Calvin Johnson made the Giants defense look horrendous, but you cannot blame the Giants because Johnson is the leagues best receiver. This was a tough call, but I'm taking Arizona because of their outstanding defense and the Giants offense is still a work in progress. Prediction: Arizona 21, NY Giants 17.
(0-1) New England Patriots vs (1-0) Minnesota Vikings: New England had a disastrous second half against Miami and Minnesota dominated St. Louis, who was missing quarterback Sam Bradford. I have a feeling that New England quarterback Tom Brady has some tricks up his sleeve to avoid a disastrous 0-2 start. Prediction: New England 27, Minnesota 21.
(0-1) New Orleans Saints vs (0-1) Cleveland Browns: New Orleans suffered a tough road overtime loss in Atlanta and Cleveland made a nice comeback in Pittsburgh but ultimately lost on a field goal as time expired. Expect New Orleans to bounce back for a nice road win. Prediction: New Orleans 30, Cleveland 17.
(1-0) Atlanta Falcons vs (1-0) Cincinnati Bengals: This is the best game of the early afternoon Sunday games and it might not be close. Atlanta is coming off a great overtime win against New Orleans and Cincinnati is coming off a nice road win in Baltimore. This is another tough call, but give me the home team in a shoutout. Prediction: Cincinnati 34, Atlanta 30.
(1-0) Detroit Lions vs (1-0) Carolina Panthers: Carolina surprisingly won in Tampa without quarterback Cam Newton and Detroit is coming off an impressive win over the Giants. I think Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford and Johnson will exploit a weak Carolina secondary to win this game while Cam Newton works his way back. Prediction: Detroit 30, Carolina 20.
(0-1) St. Louis Rams vs (0-1) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Both teams were awful week one, St. Louis more so than Tampa Bay. This is probably the least entertaining game in a standpoint of that both teams weren't good last week. I'll take Tampa Bay for this one since they don't have an injured quarterback like St. Louis does. Prediction: Tampa Bay 23, St. Louis 10.
(1-0) Seattle Seahawks vs (0-1) San Diego Chargers: The defending champs looked like champs in their season opening win over Green Bay meanwhile San Diego looked sluggish against Arizona. I won't be surprised if San Diego pulls this off at home, but I'm going with Seattle and their amazing defense. Prediction: Seattle 27, San Diego 23.
(1-0) Houston Texans vs (0-1) Oakland Raiders: Houston, despite a bad offensive game, won last week against with their great defense against a sluggish Washington team. Oakland lost a close game to the Jets, who also looked sluggish on offense. I have a strange feeling that Oakland pulls this upset off at home. Prediction: Oakland 21, Houston 20.
(1-0) New York Jets vs (0-1) Green Bay Packers: The Jets won a close game over Oakland with stellar defense and a flat offense and Green Bay looked horrendous in Seattle. I expect Green Bay to bounce back in a big way and for quarterback Aaron Rodgers to exploit a weak Jets secondary. Green Bay is my lock of the week. Prediction: Green Bay 40, NY Jets 20.
(0-1) Kansas City Chiefs vs (1-0) Denver Broncos: Denver looked like the AFC's best team in week one, while Kansas City looked horrendous. Expect Denver to take care of business yet again and to take advantage of Kansas City's defensive injury problems. Prediction: Denver 38, Kansas City 23.
(0-1) Chicago Bears vs (1-0) San Francisco 49ers: Chicago is coming off a disappointing loss in overtime against Buffalo and San Francisco is coming off a nice road win in Dallas. This is San Francisco's first regular season at their new stadium and I expect them to win behind an electric home crowd. Prediction: San Francisco 28, Chicago 23.
(1-0) Philadelphia Eagles vs (0-1) Indianapolis Colts: Philadelphia and Indianapolis did not look good in their first halves of their games but looked significantly better in their second halves. This matchup has the potential to be one of the best games of this season, and I believe this game lives up to its high expectations. Prediction: Indianapolis 34, Philadelphia 31.

2014 NFL Week 1 Picks
Here are my picks for Week 1 of the 2014 NFL Season.
September 4th
Green Bay Packers vs Seattle Seahawks- The rematch of the Fail Mary. This game should be very interesting because Seattle is a better team then they were at the time at the Fail Mary. Aaron Rodgers versus the Seahawks defense is very fascinating to see. Expect Seattle to win a very entertaining game with some help from the so called "12th man". Prediction: Seattle 28, Green Bay 20.
September 7th
New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons- An underrated division rival game kicks off with one team looking poised for a Super Bowl run and another team looking to bounce back after a disastrous season from a year ago. This is a big game in a standpoint of whether Atlanta is going to be good or not. This was a tough call, but expect New Orleans to win a close one. Prediction: New Orleans 37, Atlanta 33.
Minnesota Vikings vs St. Louis Rams- This game is one of the least interesting games of the afternoon slate considering that Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is out for the year for a torn ACL. Expect Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to dominate and for Minnesota to pull off the week one upset. Prediction: Minnesota 27, St. Louis 20.
Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers- Will we see Johnny Manziel make his NFL debut in this game? Maybe. Who knows. Pittsburgh and quarterback Ben Rothlisberger will be motivated at home and they will come out with a bang. Prediction: Pittsburgh 30, Cleveland 13.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Philadelphia Eagles- This game is not interesting to me what so ever. Expect Philadelphia and quarterback Nick Foles and running back LeSean McCoy to absolutely dominate against Chad Henne and a bad Jaguars team. Philadelphia is my lock of the week. Prediction: Eagles 45, Jacksonville 16.
Oakland Raiders vs New York Jets- The worst team in the league versus a team that is on the rise that did everything to improve their team. Oakland is starting rookie quarterback Derek Carr, which was a wise move. Expect the new additions on the Jets to have nice debuts. Prediction: NY Jets 27, Oakland 17.
Cincinnati Bengals vs Baltimore Ravens- This game is the best of the afternoon games for sure. Two division rivals who are both good teams for sure with both teams looking for something to prove. Despite the loss of running back Ray Rice, expect Baltimore to win a very close game. Prediction: Baltimore 23, Cincinnati 20.
Buffalo Bills vs Chicago Bears- This game is interesting in a standpoint of that it's the NFL debut of rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins and the fact that this Chicago team has lofty expectations and the potential of how good can this offense be. Expect Chicago to dominate. Prediction: Chicago 40, Buffalo 13.
Washington Redskins vs Houston Texans- This is a very interesting game in a standpoint of what is this new-look Washington team look like and the NFL debut of rookie linebacker Jadeveon Clowney on Houston's side. Expect home field advantage in Houston to be monstrous and for Clowney and defensive end JJ Watt to shine. Prediction: Houston 26, Washington 20.
Tennessee Titans vs Kansas City Chiefs- This game is probably going to be weird. It has all of the makings for it. People's expectations for both teams are mixed, whether they are playoff teams or a horrible team. Expect Kansas City to win a close one. Prediction: Kansas City 17, Tennessee 14.
New England Patriots vs Miami Dolphins- This is an interesting game considering the expectations for this Miami team and whether New England quarterback Tom Brady and this team can have a big season in them. Expect New England to win a close game. Prediction: New England 24, Miami 20.
Carolina Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers- This division matchup is intriguing considering the expectations for each team. Carolina is bound for regressing while Tampa Bay is poised to have a great season. Expect new Tampa head coach Lovie Smith's debut with this team to be a great one. Prediction: Tampa Bay 30, Carolina 17.
San Francisco 49ers vs Dallas Cowboys- This is the most interesting game in a standpoint of popularity for the teams and whether San Francisco's off field issues will have an impact on the field or not. Expect a very high scoring game considering Dallas's woeful defense. Prediction: San Francisco 44, Dallas 36.
Indianapolis Colts vs Denver Broncos- What a great game to start the Sunday night football slate of games throughout the season! Two of the best five teams in the AFC facing off with each team looking for something to prove. Expect Denver and quarterback Peyton Manning to come out on top. Prediction: Denver 41, Indianapolis 31.
September 8th
New York Giants vs Detroit Lions- This is one of two intriguing Monday Night football games to start the season. It's interesting to see this new look Giants offense for the first time in a meaningful game and how good this Detroit team can be with new head coach Jim Caldwell. Expect Detroit to win a close game. Prediction: Detroit 27, NY Giants 23.
San Diego Chargers vs Arizona Cardinals- This is a fascinating game to close out week one with considering how good these teams were a year ago. Now, both teams have high expectations in which either team misses the playoffs it is a failure. I like San Diego in this matchup slightly better considering that Arizona's defense will be missing some key players. Prediction: San Diego 31, Arizona 23.

2014 NFL Award Predictions
Here are my predictions for the NFL Awards this season.
MVP: Drew Brees, Quarterback, New Orleans Saints: I predicted that the Saints would have the best regular season record, and that is not the only reason why I believe Brees takes home the award. I believe Brees will have a season similar to Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning had last season, except I think Brees won't throw as many touchdown passes as Manning did, but I do think Brees breaks the single season passing yards record.
Offensive Player of the Year: Drew Brees, Quarterback, New Orleans Saints: Same reasons as above.
Defensive Player of the Year: JJ Watt, Defensive End, Houston Texans: Watt is the leagues best defensive player, and he will show it this season. Watt and teammate Jadeveon Clowney will dominate in Houston's defensive front. Watt is poised for a big season after signing a big contract extension that doesn't kick in until next season.
Coach of the Year: Jim Harbaugh, San Francisco 49ers: Many people expect San Francisco to take a step back. I believe they will miss the players that are out significant periods of time whether that's because of suspension or injury, but at the same time I think they'll find their way back to the postseason and that's why Harbaugh should win this award for the second time in four years.
Comeback Player of the Year: Von Miller, Linebacker, Denver Broncos: Miller missed most of last season with a six game suspension and a torn ACL. Denver's defense was not great last season and Denver did everything they could to improve the defense. Miller was certainly missed for most of the season last year and look for him to bounce back and have a big year.
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Carlos Hyde, Running Back, San Francisco 49ers: How about a sleeper pick? I got one! Running back Frank Gore's game is declining, so I believe Hyde will get a ton of carries on this San Francisco offense and he will have a huge impact on this offense. The favorite for this award is New Orleans's Brandin Cooks, but fella receiver Marques Colston and tight end Jimmy Graham will be featured more than Cooks. That is part of why I like Hyde to take home the honors over Cooks.
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Jadeveon Clowney, Linebacker, Houston Texans: There's no question that Clowney is the best rookie in this class. I believe he will break the single-season rookie sack record which leads to Clowney to this award.

2014 NFL Predictions
Here are my predictions for the 2014 NFL Season with predicted order of finish in divisions with predicted records, division winners, playoffs, and a Super Bowl winner. My NFL Awards predictions column is coming soon.
* = Wild Card team
AFC East
1. New England Patriots (12-4): New England is the class of it's division and it's not even close. This team is one of the more improved teams in the league, especially with the addition of cornerback Darelle Revis. Revis makes this secondary one of the leagues best if players like safety Devin McCourty step up to their capability. Quarterback Tom Brady will bounce back from what most people would call a down year for him a year ago and it would be huge for this team if wide receiver Danny Amendola and tight end Rob Gronkowski can stay on the field for a full season. Expect your typical New England regular season performance with yet another division crown.
2. New York Jets (8-8): The Jets have made some nice improvements on the offensive side of the ball this offseason by adding backup quarterback Michael Vick, running back Chris Johnson, and wide receiver Eric Decker. The Vick signing was obvious incase second-year quarterback Geno Smith either struggles out of the gate or gets injured. The secondary of the Jets is shaky with second-year cornerback Dee Milliner coming back from a sprained ankle, who head coach Rex Ryan is hopeful Milliner can come back for week one, and cornerback Dexter McDougle is out for the season with a torn ACL. The defensive front of the Jets is excellent with defensive ends Sheldon Richardson and Mo Wilkerson leading the way. If things go right, the Jets can make the playoffs and if things go wrong, expect Ryan to be on the hot seat.
3. Miami Dolphins (7-9): Miami did a nice job this offseason revamping the offensive line, which
was a disaster last season. Many people expect third-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill to make the leap this season, which is possible. Tannehill's weapons such as overpaid wide receiver Mike Wallace and overachieving wide receiver Brian Hartline need to step up in order for Tannehill's impending leap to happen. The Miami defense is in decent shape for now with defensive end Dion Jordan coming back week 5 after a four game suspension. This team could be a sleeper playoff team or else head coach Joe Philbin will be fired after seasons end.
4. Buffalo Bills (5-11): Buffalo is doing a nice job in the rebuilding process that seems like it's been going on for a while now. Second-year quarterback EJ Manuel had an injury-plagued rookie season that saw inconsistency. Manuel has help now with rookie wide out Sammy Watkins, who has a lot of promise. Running back CJ Spiller has been a fantasy bust for some time now and he needs to step up his game. The Buffalo defense is worse than people think with safety Jarius Byrd out of town and linebacker Kiko Alonso out for the season with a torn ACL. Expect another long season in Buffalo.
AFC North
1. Cincinnati Bengals (10-6): Cincinnati made nice improvements on both sides of the ball this offseason by drafting cornerback Darqueze Dennard in the first round and drafting running back Jeremy Hill in the second round. Quarterback Andy Dalton singed a long term contract extension that kicks in next season. Dalton needs to show that he can stay consistent and that he can win a playoff game. His offensive weapons such as wide receivers AJ Green and Mohammed Sanu can certainly help that case. The defense is solid with defensive tackle Geno Atkins coming back from injury. Expect a division crown for the second straight year in Cincinnati.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7)*: Pittsburgh quietly had a nice offseason by getting younger, making some under-the-radar free argent signings, and drafting most of their needs. Quarterback Ben Rothlisberger is entering a critical season of his career in a standpoint of how many prime years he has left. Running backs Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount will help the offense along with wide outs Antonio Brown and breakout candidate Markus Wheaton. Rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier is a candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year and the rest of the defense is better than people expect. Expect Pittsburgh to get the final Wild Card spot in the AFC.
3. Baltimore Ravens (9-7): Baltimore had a wild offseason in a standpoint of that they made good pickups and retained important players, but then there was the Ray Rice situation that led to a two game suspension for domestic violence. Quarterback Joe Flacco looks to bounce back from a disappointing season a year ago and new wide receiver Steve Smith should help out that case. Tight end Dennis Pitta should be healthy for a full season in order for Flacco to bounce back. On the defensive side, rookie linebacker CJ Mosley is another candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year, but veteran linebacker Terrell Suggs is another year older. Expect Baltimore to stay in contention all season, but fall just short.
4. Cleveland Browns (5-11): All eyes in Cleveland in a football standpoint will be on when rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel gets to see regular season NFL action. Quarterback Brian Hoyer won the starting job over Manziel, which most people expected. Cleveland failed to draft a wide receiver within the first few rounds of the draft since wide out Josh Godon got suspended for the season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Cleveland's receivers for this season are journeymen for the most part and the rest of the offense is mediocre. On the defensive side, their very solid with cornerback Joe Haden in the secondary and the linebacking core and the defensive front is solid. Expect another last place finish in Cleveland.
AFC South
1. Indianapolis Colts (11-5): Indianapolis is the class of the AFC south and they will continue to be this season. Quarterback Andrew Luck is entering his third season and he'll just continue to improve. Running back Trent Richardson and newcomer wide receiver Hakeem Nicks look to bounce back from disappointing seasons a year ago. Wide receiver TY Hilton is poised to take his game to another level as well. Veteran receiver Reggie Wayne is coming off an ACL injury and he's another year older. The defense is not the best, but it was important to re-sign cornerback Vontae Davis. Expect a second straight division crown in Indianapolis, despite turmoil going on with team owner Jim Irsay.
2. Houston Texans (8-8): Houston looks to bounce back from a disastrous season a year ago. New head coach Bill O'Brien has a lot of talent on this squad that underachieved last year. Houston traded quarterback Matt Schaub in the offseason and they signed quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to replace him. Fitzpatrick will probably start the season, but if things go wrong again, look for newly acquired Ryan Mallet could get the nod. Running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson look to bounce back and have big seasons. Second-year wide out DeAndre Hopkins is a fantasy sleeper, especially if Fitzpatrick has a good year. The defensive front is arguably the best in football with defensive end JJ Watt and linebacker Jadeveon Clowney. Linebacker Brian Cushing looks to bounce back and return to forum after suffering a broken fibula and a torn fibular collateral ligament. Expect Houston to bounce back and finish 500.
3. Tennessee Titans (6-10): Tennessee is an interesting team with some talent, but there are some glaring holes on the roster. Quarterback Jake Locker is entering a make-or-break season in a standpoint of whether he can stay healthy or not. Running back Dexter McCluster was a nice pickup and should put up fantasy points. Tennessee lacks an elite wide receiver and a reliable tight end. Tennessee's defense is not great but the team picked up linebacker Shaun Phillips, which will improve the defense. Expect a long season in Tennessee.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11): Jacksonville is doing a nice job rebuilding this team the past few seasons. Head coach Gus Bradley has a lot of work to do as well. Rookie quarterback Blake Bortles has shown a lot of promise in the preseason and he should be the teams starting quarterback instead of veteran Chad Henne. The offensive weapons have a lot of promise as well and Jacksonville's defense should be improved with the additions they made. Expect a long year with promising play in Jacksonville.
AFC West
1. Denver Broncos (12-4): Denver is the class of not only the AFC West, but the entire AFC. The team looks to get back to the Super Bowl after an incredible regular season a year ago and then being blown out in the Super Bowl by the eventual champion Seahawks. Denver did everything they could to improve the team and they did. The defense is much better with the additions of cornerback Aqib Talib, defensive end DeMarcus Ware, and safety TJ Ward. Despite the loss of wide receiver Eric Decker, Denver signed wide out Emmanuel Sanders to replace him. The rest of the offense will be great yet again, as long as if quarterback Peyton Manning is healthy. Expect Denver to win the division for their fourth straight season.
2. San Diego Chargers (10-6)*: San Diego surprised a lot of folks last season by making the postseason with rejuvenated quarterback Philip Rivers leading the way. The offense is solid with Rivers along with running backs Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead, receivers Keenan Allen and Malcolm Floyd, and potential breakout tight end Ladarius Green. The defense is not great, but there are impact players such as linebacker Dwight Freeney. Expect San Diego to grab the first Wild Card spot in the AFC.
3. Kansas City Chiefs (8-8): Kansas City surprised folks last season too by going 11-5 and grabbing that first wild card, but ultimately losing in the wild card round. Quarterback Alex Smith signed a long term extension that doesn't kick in until next season. Running back Jamaal Charles looks to build on a career year from last season, but the loss of some offensive lineman and running back Dexter McCluster will cause a regression. The defense is solid with the defensive fronts and line backing core. The secondary is the weak part of the Kansas City defense. Expect regression this season in Kansas City.
4. Oakland Raiders (4-12): Oakland is a mess and the worst team in the league. Oakland announced that Derek Carr will start over Matt Schaub week one, which I respect the move. The running back combo of Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden should be interesting to watch. Oakland lacks a true wide receiver and doesn't have a quality tight end. The defense is not great either despite signing defensive ends LaMarr Woodley and Justin Tuck. Rookie linebacker Khalil Mack and linebacker Sio Moore did look promising in the preseason though, but we shall see. Expect Oakland to receive the first pick in the 2015 draft.
NFC East
1. Philadelphia Eagles (10-6): After winning the division a year ago, Philadelphia is in great position to win the NFC East again. Running back LeSean McCoy is a sleeper MVP candidate, but despite the loss of DeSean Jackson, the receiving core is solid with Jeremy Maclin returning from injury and Riley Cooper. Tight end Zach Ertz is poised for a breakout season too. Philadelphia's defense could be better than last years, but the secondary must step up in order for that to happen. Expect Philadelphia to repeat as division champions.
2. New York Giants (9-7): The Giants and quarterback Eli Manning look to bounce back after a disappointing season a year ago. The preseason doesn't usually matter but the new west coast offense that new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo is trying to install is clearly a work in progress. The running game is improved with running backs Rashad Jennings and rookie Andre Williams getting carries. Wide receiver Victor Cruz looks to bounce back this season too. There is a glaring hole at tight end and the offensive line didn't improve especially with guard Geoff Schwartz dislocating his toe. The defense has some questions within the defensive front and whether defensive end Jason Pierre Paul can stay healthy and have a season similar to his 2011 season. The secondary is improved with the editions of cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond. Expect the Giants to fall short of the postseason.
3. Dallas Cowboys (8-8): Dallas is in a state of flux to say the least. Quarterback Tony Romo is coming off of back surgery and the defense is a train wreck without Sean Lee, who is out for the season with a torn ACL. The offense will still be great with running back DeMarco Murray, receivers Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams, and tight end Jason Witten. Romo is under a ton of pressure this season to keep Dallas in contention. I believe Romo has a big season that keeps this team afloat, even though the defense is going to be horrible. Expect a 500 season for the fourth straight season and for notorious owner Jerry Jones to fire head coach Jason Garrett.
4. Washington Redskins (7-9): Washington looks to bounce back from a disastrous season a year ago. Quarterback Robert Griffin III looks to bounce back from being benched by former coach Mike Shannahan at the end of last season. This offense along with Griffin should be solid with running back Alfred Morris, wide receivers Pierre Garçon and DeSean Jackson, and tight end Jordan Reed. The defense is not great, but if the defense is going to be good, the secondary must step up. Expect Washington to improve the win total from a year ago, but it won't be enough to win the division.
NFC North
1. Green Bay Packers (11-5): Green Bay looks to bounce back from a disappointing season a year ago in which franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers was out with a broken collarbone. Rodgers seems to be healthy now and he is poised for a monster season. Second-year running back Eddie Lacy is going to build on what he did a year ago, and Rodger's receivers Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb will have big impacts on this great offense as well. The defense is Green Bay's weakness outside of linebacker Clay Matthews. Nose tackle BJ Raji is out for the season and that is a blow to the defensive front. Despite defensive issues, expect Rodgers to carry Green Bay to their fourth consecutive division title.
2. Chicago Bears (10-6)*: Chicago is a very intriguing team this season. This offense could be one of the best in the league if quarterback Jay Cutler can play a full season. Running back Matt Forte is a key to this offense as well as wide outs Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. The defense is aging a little bit with cornerbacks Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman declining. On the flip side, Chicago made a great first round selection with cornerback Kyle Fuller. Expect Chicago to grab the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.
3. Detroit Lions (7-9): Some folks like Detroit as a sleeper playoff team, but I don't see it. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is facing a make or break season as well as other players on this team. The offense has the potential to be amazing if players such as running back Reggie Bush play to what their capable of. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson is one of the leagues best and he single handily makes this offense good. Rookie tight end Eric Ebron is a sleeper Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate if
things break right. On the defensive side, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh needs to mature as a player on and off the field. The secondary is weak for the most part and rookie linebacker Kyle Van Noy will help the pass rush. Expect about the same results as last season for Detroit.
4. Minnesota Vikings (5-11): Minnesota is doing a great job rebuilding this team. Quarterback Matt Cassel got the starting nod over rookie Teddy Bridgewater, who should get the nod soon if things go poorly. A question surrounding this team is how many prime years does running back Adrian Peterson have left. Wide receiver Coradelle Patterson is poised for a breakout season and tight end Kyle Rudolph looks to have another great season as well. The defense got younger when Minnesota drafted linebacker Anthony Barr. The rest of the defense may be better than we think. Expect Minnesota to finish in the cellar again.
NFC South
1. New Orleans Saints (13-3): New Orleans is one of the more improved teams in the league, thanks to great free-agency moves and great drafting. Quarterback Drew Brees is poised for a monster season and this offense is going to be phenomenal. The loss of Darren Sproles won't be a thought when running backs Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram step up. Wide receivers Marques Colston and rookie Brandin Cooks will have big years along with tight end Jimmy Graham. The defense will be better with safety Jarius Byrd improving the secondary. Expect New Orleans to cruise through the division.
2. Atlanta Falcons (9-7): Atlanta looks to bounce back from a disastrous season a year ago. Offensively, when healthy, should be good with quarterback Matt Ryan looking to have a bounce back season along with his weapons in receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White. Running back Steven Jackson is declining and Atlanta needs lacks a versatile tight end that can replace what Tony Gonzalez. The defense is not great by any means. Linebacker Osi Umenyiora is declining as well. Expect a bounce back season in Atlanta, but they'll fall short.
3. Tampa Bay Bucanneers (7-9): Many people like Tampa Bay to make the post season this year, I just think the NFC is the better conference and there are teams that are better than Tampa. Quarterback Josh McCown looks to build on a career year filling in for Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler for part of last season. McCown has great weapons in running back Doug Martin, wide receivers Vincent Jackson and rookie Mike Evans, and tight end Brandon Myers. Tampa's defense has the potential to be great with improvements all around such as defensive end Michael Johnson coming over in free agency and the emergence of linebacker Lavonte David. A losing record in Tampa Bay would be considered a massive disappointment, but the future is bright.
4. Carolina Panthers (6-10): How can a team go from 12-4 and division champs to dividing last years win total in half? Easy, losing impact players such as wide receiver Steve Smith and all of us smart people knowing this team overachieved last season and you know the regression is bound to happen. Quarterback Cam Newton is dealing with rib issues, running backs DeAngelo Hall and Jonathan Stewart are declining, and the team has to rely on receivers such as Jerricho Cotchery and rookie Kelvin Benjamin. The defense is still very good with linebacker Luke Kuechly and defensive end Star Lotulelei, but the secondary is weak. Expect a first-to-worst season in Carolina and this could be the end of head coach Ron Rivera.
NFC West
1. Seattle Seahawks (12-4): The defending champs look to repeat as champs yet again. Seattle's offense is going to be better, despite the loss of wide receiver Golden Tate, quarterback Russell Wilson will only get better, Marshawn Lynch is one of the leagues best running backs, wide out Percy Harvin may be actually healthy for a full season. We all know that Seattle has the best defense in the league, with the secondary of cornerback Richard Sherman and safety Earl Thomas, linebackers Bobby Wagner and reigning Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith, and defensive ends Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. Expect Seattle to win the division yet again.
2. San Francisco 49ers (11-5)*: San Francisco had a tumultuous offseason in a standpoint of how many players have left in free agency, the players that have been suspended such as linebacker Aldon Smith, and the rumors swirling about head coach Jim Harbaugh wanting out. There is a ton of pressure on quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the offense because of the losses on the defense. Running back Frank Gore is aging, but San Francisco stole running back Carlos Hyde in the draft. The receiving core was improved by trading for wide out Stevie Johnson, to pair him up with receiver Anquan Boldin and tight end Vernon Davis. The defense will regress, but linebacker Patrick Willis must step up his game for the defense to not regress as much as it could. Despite some turmoil, I trust this team and head coach Jim Harbaugh to find their way to the first Wild Card slot.
3. Arizona Cardinals (9-7): Arizona surprised folks last season by going 10-6 and just falling short of the postseason. Quarterback Carson Palmer is declining, but he has great weapons in running back Andre Ellington, who is poised to break out and wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd. The defense is great with cornerback Patrick Peterson leading the secondary. The pass rush is very good as well, despite linebacker Darryl Washington being suspended for the season for violating the league's substance policy. Expect Arizona to fall short of the postseason yet again.
4. St. Louis Rams (5-11): St. Louis has lost starting quarterback Sam Bradford for the season with a torn ACL, the same injury that he had a year ago that cut his season short. Back up quarterback Shaun Hill is now the starter, who has never started a game in a career. Running back Zac Stacy is facing a make-or-break year, as well as tight end Jared Cook, and second-year receiver Tavon Austin looks to take the next step. The defense is excellent with the defensive front being led by defensive end Robert Quinn and rookie defensive tackle Aaron Donald will only make the pass rush better. The line backing core is solid with second-year linebacker Alec Ogletree and the secondary will improve. Without Bradford, expect St. Louis to finish in the cellar.

AFC East

2. Chicago Bears (10-6)*: Chicago is a very intriguing team this season. This offense could be one of the best in the league if quarterback Jay Cutler can play a full season. Running back Matt Forte is a key to this offense as well as wide outs Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. things break right.

Super Bowl XLIX
A Manning versus Brees show down in the desert is what I'm calling for. It'd be great and I believe with a better defense and arguably the better quarterback, Denver and Manning will win it all.
(A2) Denver Broncos over (N1) New Orleans Saints
