Super Bowl 50 Prediction

The Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers are the representatives from their respective conferences that will play in the 50th edition of the big game. Who will come out on top on Sunday in Santa Clara? Here is my prediction.

(A1) Denver Broncos vs (N1) Carolina Panthers- 6:30, CBS: These two teams are very different and it will be very fascinating how this game plays out. The dominant storyline is that Peyton Manning, after being benched after injuring his ankle in the middle of the season, first comes off the bench in week seventeen and leading the team to a win, and than after that they win two playoff games (thanks to their defense) are here in the Super Bowl. There's been chatter about the possibility of Manning retiring, but he said at Super Bowl Opening Night (which replaced Media Day) that he hasn't thought about his future that much yet and is focusing on the game. I believe it helps Manning that there was a week off. I'm fascinated to see if the Broncos defense can stop Cam Newton and the running game. Jonathan Stewart is better than the running backs the Broncos saw in their last two games. Newton is no doubt the MVP favorite, which he'll be rewarded for it on Saturday night. My concerns for the Panthers are the health of two important defensive players in Thomas Davis (broken arm) and Jared Allen (broken foot). They both should be able to play. So, what this comes down to is whether the Broncos can continue to make big plays on both ends. It would be very fitting if Manning and the Broncos got the job done with that defense, considering how this seasons gone for them. It also would be fitting if the Panthers, who have been dominant all season long, just win the whole thing as well and that's where I'm leaning. The Panthers have the MVP favorite and have the team that has only lost two games (regular season and playoffs) in a fourteen month span dating back to December 2014. So, the Panthers are the pick to win Super Bowl 50 and it would be their first Super Bowl win in franchise history.

Prediction: Carolina 27, Denver 20.

Super Bowl MVP Pick: Cam Newton
