Here are my picks for week thirteen of the 2019 NFL Season.
Thursday, November 28th
Chicago Bears (5-6) vs Detroit Lions (3-7-1)- 12:30, FOX: The Bears are coming off a home win over the lowly New York Giants. The Lions are coming off a road loss in Landover against the Redskins. New Lions starter Jeff Driskel is questionable with a hamstring injury, so we don't know who will be quarterbacking the Lions on Turkey Day afternoon. I do think they will win this game because Mitch Trubisky has been so bad this season to the point I don't trust him to beat the lowly Lions and he even almost single handily gave the game away last week against the Giants. Give me the Lions in a low scoring affair.
Prediction: Detroit 19, Chicago 16.
Buffalo Bills (8-3) vs Dallas Cowboys (6-5)- 4:30, CBS: The Bills are coming off a home win over the Denver Broncos. The Cowboys are coming off a tough road loss in Foxboro against the Patriots which led to an interesting press conference with owner Jerry Jones. I think Jones's boys are primed for a big bounce back here against a Bills team that's clearly not as good as the record indicates.
Prediction: Dallas 31, Buffalo 17.
New Orleans Saints (9-2) vs Atlanta Falcons (3-8)- 8:20, NBC: The Saints are coming off a divisional home win over the Carolina Panthers courtesy of a game winning kick by Will Lutz as time expired. The Falcons are coming off a bad divisional home loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I do expect Matt Ryan to play and for the offense to play better, but I don't think the Saints forget the beatdown the Falcons gave them a few weeks ago, so you know Drew Brees and their offense will be on their A game so give me the Saints here on the road in a high scoring affair.
Prediction: New Orleans 37, Atlanta 26.
Sunday, December 1st
New York Jets (4-7) vs Cincinnati Bengals (0-11)- 1:00, CBS: The Jets are coming off a dominant home win over the Oakland Raiders. The Bengals are coming off a divisional home loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Andy Dalton is back starting for the Bengals after they saw enough from rookie Ryan Finley. Meanwhlile, Sam Darnold and the Jets offense has been absoluely rolling of late and I think they'll continue to beat inferior teams.
Prediction: NY Jets 31, Cincinnati 16.
Tennessee Titans (6-5) vs Indianapolis Colts (6-5)- 1:00, CBS: This is sneakily a huge game between these divisional teams that could go a way toward a Wild Card spot and perhaps the division. The Titans are coming off a huge home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts are coming off a Thursday night divisional road loss in Houston against the Texans. The Colts at home are a much different and better team at home then on the road and I believe it will continue to be the case here on what should be a fun game.
Prediction: Indianapolis 23, Tennessee 17.
Philadelphia Eagles (5-6) vs Miami Dolphins (2-9)- 1:00, FOX: The Eagles are coming off a disappointing home loss against the Seattle Seahawks despite missing key offensive weapons. The Dolphins are coming off a road loss in Cleveland against the Browns. I believe this is a nice little get right spot for Carson Wentz and the Eagles, who are getting key pieces back from injury and I expect them to win this game.
Prediction: Philadelphia 26, Miami 16.
Green Bay Packers (9-2) vs New York Giants (2-9)- 1:00, FOX: The Packers are coming off a disappointing Sunday night road loss in Santa Clara against the 49ers. The Giants are coming off a road loss in Chicago against the Bears. This is a great get right spot for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense in theory, but there could be snow headed for MetLife on Sunday. Anyway, I still think the Packers bounce back and win here against a listless Giants team.
Prediction: Green Bay 33, NY Giants 24.
Cleveland Browns (5-6) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (6-5)- 1:00, CBS: The Browns are coming off a home win over the Miami Dolphins. The Steelers are coming off a divisional road win in Cincinnati against the Bengals. This is a huge game in division and we obviously remember what happened a few weeks ago on that Thursday night and the Steelers definitely are thinking revenge here at home and I think they'll get it done.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 24, Cleveland 20.
Washington Redskins (2-9) vs Carolina Panthers (5-6)- 1:00, CBS: The Redskins are coming off a home win over the Detroit Lions. The Panthers are coming off a close divisional road loss in New Orleans against the Saints. In theory, you're thinking big bounce back spot for the Panthers, whom I do think they get the win, but bad weather could lead to sloppiness and a closer than expected game.
Prediction: Carolina 24, Washington 17.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-7) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (4-7)- 1:00, FOX: The Buccaneers are coming off a divisional road win in Atlanta against the Falcons. The Jaguars are coming off a bad divisional road loss in Tennessee against the Titans. This was a tough call, but I'm going to take Nick Foles and the Jaguars to take it at home.
Prediction: Jacksonville 27, Tennessee 26.
San Francisco 49ers (10-1) vs Baltimore Ravens (9-2)- 1:00, FOX: This is almost certainly the game of the year in the NFL and it's disappointing that it's not a primetime game. The 49ers are coming off a dominant Sunday night home win over the Green Bay Packers. The Ravens are coming off a dominant Monday night road win in Los Angeles against the Rams. I understand that the Ravens have been dominating everyone lately, but I do think that this contest will be very competitive and home field advantage will prevail for them.
Prediction: Baltimore 27, San Francisco 23.
Los Angeles Rams (6-5) vs Arizona Cardinals (3-7-1)- 4:05, FOX: The Rams are coming off a disastrous Monday night home loss against the Baltimore Ravens. The Cardinals are coming off their bye and two weeks ago they lost a close divisional game in Santa Clara against the 49ers. This time, I do believe they'll get off the hook and get a nice win to get people excited against a Rams team that looks like it quit.
Prediction: Arizona 23, LA Rams 20.
Los Angeles Chargers (4-7) vs Denver Broncos (3-8)- 4:25, CBS: The Chargers are coming off a bye and two weeks ago they lost in Mexico City against the Kansas City Chiefs in a divisional clash on Monday Night Football. The Broncos are coming off a road loss in Buffalo against the Bills. This is a tough call, but this feels like a game the Chargers always seem to lose and whether it's Drew Lock or Brandon Allen, I do think the Broncos pull it out at home.
Prediction: Denver 24, LA Chargers 23.
Oakland Raiders (6-5) vs Kansas City Chiefs (7-4)- 4:25, CBS: The Raiders are coming off a disastrous road loss in East Rutherford against the Jets. The Chiefs are coming off a bye and two weeks ago, they beat the Los Angeles Chargers in Mexico City on Monday Night Football. I do think the Raiders offense will perform better against a weak Chiefs defense, but I don't see the Raiders defense stopping Patrick Mahomes and that offense.
Prediction: Kansas City 35, Oakland 27.
New England Patriots (10-1) vs Houston Texans (7-4)- 8:20, NBC: The Patriots are coming off a home win over the Dallas Cowboys in a game that wasn't well played. The Texans are coming off a Thursday night divisional home win over the Indianapolis Colts. For the second time in a row, I think the Patriots getting picked off on a Sunday night, this time against a Texans team that is playing their second consecutive primetime home game. I believe DeShaun Watson gets a signature win here.
Prediction: Houston 20, New England 17.
Monday, December 2nd
Minnesota Vikings (8-3) vs Seattle Seahawks (9-2)- 8:15, ESPN: This is another tremendous matchup for a Monday Night game. The Vikings are coming off a bye and two weeks ago they had a great comeback win over the Denver Broncos at home. The Seahawks are coming off a road win in Philadelphia against the Eagles. These two teams met last year on a Monday night in Seattle too and the Seahawks won the game and that was the game that pretty much decided the last NFC Wild Card spot. This year, it could determine who gets which Wild Card or perhaps possible playoff home field advantage if they end up division winners. I won't be surprised if this goes either way, but it should be a great game and I like the Seahawks at home to take it led by MVP candidate Russell Wilson.
Prediction: Seattle 30, Minnesota 27.
