Here are my picks for week nine of the NFL season.
Thursday, November 5th
Cleveland Browns (2-6) vs Cincinnati Bengals (7-0)- 8:25, CBS/NFLN: Cleveland is coming off a disappointing home loss against the Arizona Cardinals, in which they had a double digit lead in. Cincinnati is coming off an impressive road win in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. There are reports out there that Johnny Manziel could start this week since Josh McCown has a rib injury. That said, the Bengals are the better team and they'll remain unbeaten for another week.
Prediction: Cincinnati 31, Cleveland 17.
Sunday, November 8th
Oakland Raiders (4-3) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (4-4)- 1:00, CBS: Oakland is coming off a big home win over the New York Jets. Pittsburgh is coming off a disappointing home loss against the Cincinnati Bengals is which Le'Veon Bell was lost to a season ending knee injury. DeAngelo Williams has shown that he could be a decent option at the running back position though. I do think the Raiders are due for a bit of a letdown here after a huge win over the Jets, so I like the Steelers to bounce back here.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 28, Oakland 20.
Green Bay Packers (6-1) vs Carolina Panthers (7-0)- 1:00, FOX: This is definitely the biggest game of the weekend in the league. Green Bay is coming off a disappointing loss in Denver against the Broncos. Carolina is coming off a great Monday Night overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts. This game could go either way, but I like the Panthers here at home to remain unbeaten.
Prediction: Carolina 24, Green Bay 20.
Washington Redskins (3-4) vs New England Patriots (7-0)- 1:00, FOX: Washington is coming off their bye and two weeks ago, they had a great comeback win at home over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. New England is coming off a great Thursday Night home win over the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots are a tempting lock pick here, but it's not because they could be looking ahead to its big Super Bowl rematch game next weekend against the Giants. But still, the Pats should still win this game but I say they break it open in the second half.
Prediction: New England 33, Washington 17.
Tennessee Titans (1-6) vs New Orleans Saints (4-4)- 1:00, CBS: Tennessee is coming off a bad loss in Houston against the Texans, which led to the firing of Ken Whisenhunt. New Orleans is coming off its high scoring affair win at home over the New York Giants. The Saints have been playing better football of late winning four of their last five and they should take care of business this week against a bad Titans team and that said, the Saints are my lock of the week.
Prediction: New Orleans 37, Tennessee 13.
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) vs New York Jets (4-3)- 1:00, CBS: Jacksonville is coming their bye and two weeks ago, they beat the Buffalo Bills in London. New York is coming off a bad loss in Oakland against the Raiders in which Ryan Fitzpatrick hurt his thumb. Geno Smith saw some action last week and he was mediocre at best. No matter who starts for the Jets on Sunday should be able to get the job done against a bad Jaguars team at home.
Prediction: NY Jets 26, Jacksonville 17.
St. Louis Rams (4-3) vs Minnesota Vikings (5-2)- 1:00, FOX: Who had this game circled as a game in which both teams would have winning records when they faced each other? Not me. That said, St. Louis is coming off a nice home win over the San Francisco 49ers. Minnesota is coming off a nice road win in Chicago against the Bears. Both of these teams are solid, but something tells me that Todd Gurley has another amazing game and leads the Rams to another big road win.
Prediction: St. Louis 27, Minnesota 23.
Atlanta Falcons (5-3) vs San Francisco 49ers (2-6)- 4:05, FOX: Atlanta is coming off a disappointing overtime home loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. San Francisco is coming off a bad road loss in St. Louis against the Rams, which led to the benching of Colin Kaepernick. The Falcons haven't been the same team the past few weeks and Blaine Gabbert is starting in place of Kaepernick. I think the Falcons sneak out a win here in a close one.
Prediction: Atlanta 20, San Francisco 17.
New York Giants (4-4) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4)- 4:05, FOX: New York is coming off a heartbreaking loss in the Superdome against the Saints in which they scored a grand total of 49 points in. Tampa Bay is coming off a nice overtime road win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Giants are the better team here and I think they pull out a win here late and take advantage of some Jameis Winston turnovers. There is some look ahead potential here for the Giants since they do face the Patriots at home next week in a Super Bowl rematch, though.
Prediction: NY Giants 31, Tampa Bay 20.
Denver Broncos (7-0) vs Indianapolis Colts (3-5)- 4:25, CBS: Denver is coming off a big Sunday Night home win over the Green Bay Packers. Indianapolis is coming off a tough Monday Night overtime loss in Charlotte against the Panthers. Peyton Manning played his best game of the season on Sunday night and Andrew Luck played well in the fourth quarter and in overtime on Monday night as well (despite the interception in overtime). Manning's team is better than Luck's team and that will be the difference here.
Prediction: Denver 30, Indianapolis 24.
Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) vs Dallas Cowboys (2-5)- 8:30, NBC: Philadelphia is coming off their bye and two weeks ago, they lost a Sunday Night game in Charlotte against the Panthers. Dallas is coming off a tough home loss against the Seattle Seahawks. Sam Bradford has been shaky all season long and the Cowboys defense has played well the last two weeks. The Cowboys also got Dez Bryant back last weekend and he's not going up against the Leigon Of Boom this week. Give me the Boys at home.
Prediction: Dallas 26, Philadelphia 23.
Monday, November 9th
Chicago Bears (2-5) vs San Diego Chargers (2-6)- 8:30, ESPN: Chicago is coming off a tough home loss against the Minnesota Vikings. San Diego is coming off a tough road loss in Baltimore against the Ravens in which Keenan Allen was lost to a season ending kidney injury. Neither of these teams are good at all, but I like Jay Cutler to have a nice game and lead the Bears to a road win.
Prediction: Chicago 27, San Diego 23.
