Here are my predictions for day one of the second round of the 2017 NCAA tournament.
3/18- (W5) Notre Dame vs (W4) West Virginia- 12:10, CBS: This should be an outstanding Round Of 32 game between these two formal conference foes. Bonzie Colson and the three-point shooting of the Irish might be too much for Press Virginia to handle. Give me the Irish in a close one.
Prediction: Notre Dame
3/18- (E8) Wisconsin vs (E1) Villanova- 2:40, CBS: This should be a terrific Round Of 32 game. Bronson Koeing, Ethan Happ, Nigel Hayes and the Badgers won't be afraid, but Josh Hart and the reigning champion Wildcats will sneak by to the Sweet 16.
Prediction: Villanova
3/18- (W8) Northwestern vs (W1) Gonzaga- 5:15, CBS: This should be a fun game. Everyone knows the Wildcats story, but I don't see an upset here. Nigel Williams-Goss will lead the way for the Bulldogs in a close one.
Prediction: Gonzaga
3/18- (W11) Xavier vs (W3) Florida State- 6:10, TNT: The Musketeers deserve a lot of credit for being in the Round Of 32 without Edmund Sumner. The Seminoles are should advance here with some ease.
Prediction: Florida State
3/18- (S12) Middle Tennessee vs (S4) Butler- 7:10, TBS: This should be a very fun matchup with a lot of offense. The Bulldogs are very unpredictable and they can beat the Blue Raiders by double digits or lose a close game. I really love Reggie Upshaw and Giddy Potts and the Raiders to pull out the upset here.
Prediction: Middle Tennessee
3/18- (W7) Saint Mary's vs (W2) Arizona- 7:45, CBS: This should be an outstanding game. The Gaels were very impressive in their win over the VCU Rams, but Alonzo Trier and the Wildcats should pull out a close one.
Prediction: Arizona
3/18- (E5) Virginia vs (E4) Florida; 8:40, TNT: Expect a very low scoring game here with a lot of defense. I really like the Cavs here to advance to their third Sweet 16 in four seasons and I believe the Gators will miss John Egbunu here.
Prediction: Virginia
3/18- (MW5) Iowa State vs (MW4) Purdue; 9:40, TBS: This should be an outstanding game. Caleb Swanigan and Monte Morris will hit big shots for their respective teams, but give me the Cyclones to advance here.
Prediction: Iowa State
