2014 NFL Black Monday Preview

This years edition of NFL's Black Monday shall be very interesting. Coaches and GM's will be fired, like every year. Who will get the axe this year? We shall see to find out. Here are my thoughts.

Buffalo Bills- Head coach Doug Marrone deserves to keep his job after going 9-7 this year. GM Doug Whaley should be safe as well. With new ownership, people have speculated that Marrone and Whaley's jobs could be in jeopardy though.

Miami Dolphins- Team owner Stephen Ross said that head coach Joe Philbin will return next season. After a loss today against the Jets, does that change Ross's mind? Don't rule it out.

New England Patriots- Head coach Bill Belichick is not going anywhere. No need to discuss his future.

New York Jets- Head coach Rex Ryan thinks he's going to be fired. So do I and so does everybody else. This morning there was reports that the Jets will likely fire GM John Idzik.

Baltimore Ravens- Since the team is heading back to the postseason, head coach John Harbaugh and GM Ozzie Newsome aren't going anywhere.

Cincinnati Bengals- Depending how they do in the playoffs, head coach Marvin Lewis's job can be in question if they lose in the Wild Card round. Owner Mike Brown has received criticism in the past for not firing Lewis after bad playoff losses the past few years.

Cleveland Browns- Despite finishing 7-9, Cleveland should feel good about themselves. Head coach Mike Pettine should return as well as GM Ray Farmer.

Pittsburgh Steelers- Since the team is heading back to the postseason, head coach Mike Tomlin should be safe as well as GM Kevin Colbert.

Houston Texans- Bill O'Brien should return for his second season as head coach of the Texans. GM Rick Smith has done a nice job putting the team together, despite reports saying that Smith could lose his job.

Indianapolis Colts- Head coach Chuck Pagano has done an outstanding job the past couple of years so his job is safe. GM Ryan Grigson hasn't really done that good of a job, despite drafting franchise quarterback Andrew Luck.

Jacksonville Jaguars- Head coach Gus Bradley and GM David Caldwell should return, despite finishing 3-13.

Tennessee Titans- In November, there were reports saying that head coach Ken Whisenhunt and GM Ruston Webster were safe. Now, CEO Tommy Smith came out and said that Whisenhunt and Webster are indeed safe.

Denver Broncos- Head coach John Fox and GM John Elway are safe no matter what happens with the team in the playoffs.

Kansas City Chiefs- Head coach Andy Reid has done an outstanding job with his team the last two seasons so he's not going anywhere. GM John Dorsey has done a nice job putting the team together, so don't expect change there.

Oakland Raiders- Interim head coach Tony Sporano is not expected to return. GM Reggie McKenzie's future is dependent on the head coaching search.

San Diego Chargers- Head coach Mike McCoy should return after finishing 9-7, despite missing the postseason. GM Tom Tolesco has done a nice job during his two years of this job.

Dallas Cowboys- Dallas wants head coach Jason Garrett to return. Garrett deserves to return after leading the team to the playoffs this season.

New York Giants- Despite finishing a disappointing 6-10, expect head coach Tom Coughlin to return. GM Jerry Reese should return despite not drafting great the past few years (with the exception of rookie wideout Odell Beckham Jr).

Philadelphia Eagles- Head coach Chip Kelly should be back despite missing the playoffs with a 10-6 record.

Washington Redskins- Head coach Jay Gruden's job is safe. Changes should made to Gruden's coaching staff, though.

Chicago Bears- After their disastrous 5-11 season, head coach Marc Trestman and GM Phil Emery should be fired. Reports say that Trestman is expected to be fired.

Detroit Lions- After making the playoffs, head coach Jim Caldwell should be back after a successful first season at the helm. GM Martin Mayhew is doing a better job with drafting as well.

Green Bay Packers- Head coach Mike McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson should be safe no matter how far this team goes.

Minnesota Vikings- First year coach Mike Zimmer did a great job, despite finishing 7-9. Zimmer should be back as well as GM Rick Spielman, who's done a great job putting the team together.

Atlanta Falcons- Head coach Mike Smith and GM Thomas Dmitroff both deserve the axe after two underachieving seasons in a row. Reports say the clock is ticking on both.

Carolina Panthers- Since the team made the playoffs, head coach Ron Rivera's job should be safe for another year.

New Orleans Saints- By far the most disappointing team in the league this season. Head coach Sean Peyton's job should be safe though, but not defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's. GM Mickey Loomis should be safe too.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Head coach Lovie Smith and GM Jason Licht's job should be safe despite having a putrid 2-14 season. This is a rebuilding team and Smith and Licht each were on their first years of the jobs.

Arizona Cardinals- No way head coach Bruce Arians is leaving or getting fired after two successful seasons. Arians and GM Steve Keim deserve a ton of credit for the teams relevancy the last two years.

St. Louis Rams- Despite finishing 6-10, head coach Jeff Fisher should be back next season. GM Les Snead has done a great job rebuilding this team and he and Fisher deserve credit.

San Francisco 49ers- The worst kept secret since August has finally been announced, Jim Harbaugh is leaving after he and the team mutually agreed to part ways. GM Trent Baalke is probably coming back and he and CEO Jed York have to find the next head coach of the team.

Seattle Seahawks- Head coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider should be safe no matter what happens to this team in the playoffs.

2014 NFL Week 17 Picks

Here are my picks for week seventeen of the 2014 NFL Season.

Sunday, December 28th
(3-12) Jacksonville Jaguars vs (8-7) Houston Texans- Jacksonville is coming off a Thursday night home win against Tennessee. Houston is coming off a big home win against Baltimore to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Defensive end JJ Watt is making a strong case for the league MVP award and I believe Watt has another great game en route to a Houston victory.
Prediction: Houston 26, Jacksonville 17.

(9-6) San Diego Chargers vs (8-7) Kansas City Chiefs- San Diego is coming off a huge come from behind road win on Saturday night against San Francisco. Kansas City is coming off a tough road loss against Pittsburgh. The only thing San Diego needs to do in order to get the second AFC Wild Card spot. Kansas City needs a win plus losses by Houston and Baltimore to get that second AFC Wild Card spot. I believe San Diego once again wins and gets in.
Prediction: San Diego 31, Kansas City 27.

(3-12) New York Jets vs (8-7) Miami Dolphins- The Jets are coming off a home loss against New England. Miami is coming off a home win against Minnesota, in which they won on a game winning safety in the final minute of regulation. Miami has been eliminated from the playoffs, but they should close out a respectable season with a home win.
Prediction: Miami 31, NY Jets 21.

(5-10) Chicago Bears vs (6-9) Minnesota Vikings- Chicago is coming off a home loss against Detroit. Minnesota is coming off a road loss against Miami. Chicago is starting Jay Cutler, who was benched last week for Jimmy Clausen, who has a concussion. Rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been great of late and I believe they win here in their season finale.
Prediction: Minnesota 33, Chicago 21.

(8-7) Buffalo Bills vs (12-3) New England Patriots- Buffalo is now eliminated from playoff contention because they lost in Oakland last week. New England is coming off a road win at MetLife against the Jets. New England isn't playing for anything now that they clinched home field advantage with Denver losing on Monday night. I still believe New England takes this one at home.
Prediction: New England 27, Buffalo 19.

(9-6) Philadelphia Eagles vs (6-9) New York Giants- Philadelphia is coming off a disappointing road loss against Washington, which eliminated them from playoff contention. The Giants are coming off an impressive road win against St. Louis. Look for offensive rookie of the year favorite Odell Beckham Jr to have another big day and for the Giants to close the season with four straight wins.
Prediction: NY Giants 34, Philadelphia 27.

(6-9) New Orleans Saints vs (2-13) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- New Orleans is coming off a disappointing home loss against Atlanta, which eliminated them from playoff contention. Tampa Bay is coming off a home loss against Green Bay. If Tampa loses here, they'll earn the first pick in the 2015 draft. I believe that happens.
Prediction: New Orleans 27, Tampa Bay 20.

(10-5) Indianapolis Colts vs (2-13) Tennessee Titans- Indianapolis is coming off a disastrous road loss against Dallas, in which they already had their division locked up but were still playing for seeding and quarterback Andrew Luck was benched. Tennessee is coming off a Thursday night road loss against Jacksonville. Expect Luck to bounce back and Indianapolis to get out of its funk.
Prediction: Indianapolis 30, Tennessee 13.

(11-4) Dallas Cowboys vs (4-11) Washington Redskins- Dallas is coming off a big home win against Indianapolis. Washington is coming off a nice home win against Philadelphia. Dallas can get a first-round bye with a win plus losses by Arizona and Seattle. I believe they'll get the win but I don't know about the bye.
Prediction: Dallas 34, Washington 30.

(7-8) Cleveland Browns vs (9-6) Baltimore Ravens- Cleveland is coming off a road loss against Carolina. Baltimore is coming off a bad road loss against Houston, which can kill their playoff hopes when it's all said and done. Baltimore can clinch the second AFC Wild Card spot with a win plus a San Diego loss. I believe Baltimore gets the win, but not the playoff berth because I picked San Diego to beat Kansas City.
Prediction: Baltimore 24, Cleveland 17.

(6-8-1) Carolina Panthers vs (6-9) Atlanta Falcons- Carolina is coming off a huge home win against Cleveland, which kept them in contention for the division. Atlanta is coming off a huge road win against New Orleans, which is why their in contention for the division. This was a tough call, but Carolina has the better defense and that will be the difference here.
Prediction: Carolina 27, Atlanta 24.

(3-12) Oakland Raiders vs (11-4) Denver Broncos- Oakland is coming off a home win against Buffalo. Denver is coming off a disappointing road loss on Monday night against Cincinnati. Denver can clinch a first round bye with a win here against Oakland and I believe they'll bounce back from Monday night and earn the bye.
Prediction: Denver 33, Oakland 20.

(11-4) Arizona Cardinals vs (7-8) San Francisco 49ers- Arizona is coming off a disastrous home loss against Seattle. San Francisco is coming off a Saturday night overtime home loss against San Diego. Arizona is starting Ryan Lindley again and I think San Francisco caps off a disappointing season with a win in which is all but Jim Harbaugh's final game as Niners head coach.
Prediction: San Francisco 23, Arizona 20.

(6-9) St. Louis Rams vs (11-4) Seattle Seahawks- St. Louis is coming off a disappointing home loss against the Giants. Seattle is coming off their biggest win of the season on the road in Arizona. St. Louis beat Seattle a few months ago, but they were home in that game. Seattle can clinch their division and home field advantage with a win here and I believe they'll do just that.
Prediction: Seattle 30, St. Louis 21.

(10-4-1) Cincinnati Bengals vs (10-5) Pittsburgh Steelers- Cincinnati is coming off an impressive home win against Denver. Pittsburgh is coming off a huge home win against Kansas City. The winner of this game wins the AFC North and the loser of this game earns the first AFC Wild Card. Home field advantage will lift Pittsburgh to the division title.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 30, Cincinnati 24.

2014 NFL Week 16 Picks

Here are my picks for week sixteen of the 2014 NFL season.

Thursday, December 18th
(2-14) Tennessee Titans vs (2-14) Jacksonville Jaguars- Tennessee is coming off a home loss against the Jets. Jacksonville is coming off a road loss against Baltimore. This is by far the worst prime time game the league scheduled this season and it's possible that the Thurday night NBA games will have better ratings than this putrid game. Anyways, Jacksonville has been a little frisky and I think they win this one. Prediction: Jacksonville 19, Tennessee 13.

Saturday, December 20th
(9-5) Philadelphia Eagles vs (3-11) Washington Redskins- Philadelphia is coming off a disappointing home loss against Dallas. Washignton is coming off a road loss against the Giants, in which quarterback Colt McCoy injured his neck and now is out for the season. RGIII did show some life against the Giants after McCoy went down and now he's starting this week. Philadelphia needs to win this game in order to keep their playoff hopes up and I believe they bounce back after last week. Prediction: Philadelphia 33, Washington 24.

(8-6) San Diego Chargers vs (7-7) San Francisco 49ers- San Diego is coming off a disappointing home loss against Denver. San Francisco is coming off a road loss against Seattle, in which they were eliminated from playoff contention. With San Diego still in the AFC playoff hunt and San Francisco having nothing to play for, I think San Diego pulls it out. Prediction: San Diego 23, San Francisco 17.

Sunday, December 21st
(5-9) Atlanta Falcons vs (6-8) New Orleans Saints- Atlanta is coming off a home loss against Pittsburgh. New Orleans is coming off a road win against Chicago on Monday night. This game was a tough game to pick considering both teams have bad defenses. I like New Orleans to stop their rare home losing streak here. Prediction: New Orleans 34, Atlanta 30.

(7-7) Cleveland Browns vs (5-8-1) Carolina Panthers- Cleveland is coming off a shutout home loss against Cincinnati in rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel's first start. Carolina is coming off a home win against Tampa Bay. Amazingly enough, Carolina is still in the hunt for the dreadful NFC South after winning two in a row. Cleveland on the other hand has been playing poor lately. I like Carolina to win their third straight game. Prediction: Carolina 24, Cleveland 20.

(9-5) Baltimore Ravens vs (7-7) Houston Texans- Baltimore is coming off a home win against Jacksonville. Houston is coming off a road loss against Indianapolis in which quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick broke his leg and is now out for the season and now Case Keenum gets the nod for Houston now. I think Baltimore gets closer to the postseason with a win here. Prediction: Baltimore 28, Houston 19.

(8-6) Kansas City Chiefs vs (9-5) Pittsburgh Steelers- Kansas City is coming off a home win against Oakland. Pittsburgh is coming off a big road win against Atlanta. This game has very heavy playoff implications and it would not surprise me who won this game. Pittsburgh's home field advantage will help them to a win and to clinch a playoff berth. Prediction: Pittsburgh 30, Kansas City 24.

(10-4) Green Bay Packers vs (2-12) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Green Bay is coming off a bad road loss against Buffalo. Tampa Bay is coming off a road loss against Carolina. Green Bay must win this game if they want to clinch a playoff berth. I believe they will win and bounce back from a bad loss. Prediction: Green Bay 31, Tampa Bay 17.

(11-3) New England Patriots vs (3-11) New York Jets- New England is coming off a big home win against Miami. The Jets are coming off a road win against Tennessee. This is very likely head coach Rex Ryan's last home game so expect the Jets to play well and the score to be closer than some experts may think. Prediction: New England 31, NY Jets 23.

(10-4) Detroit Lions vs (5-9) Chicago Bears- Detroit is coming off a big home win against Minnesota. Chicago is coming off a horrible home loss against New Orleans on Monday night. Chicago benched quarterback Jay Cutler in favor of Jimmy Clausen and I don't think it matters. Detroit needs to win this game to make the playoffs and Chicago is a mess. Prediction: Detroit 33, Chicago 13.

(6-8) Minnesota Vikings vs (7-7) Miami Dolphins- Minnesota is coming off a road loss against Detroit. Miami is coming off a bad road loss against New England. Miami is still in the AFC Wild Card mix, but they need to win out plus a few rare breaks in order to make the playoffs. I think Miami pulls this one out at home. Prediction: Miami 27, Minnesota 24.

(5-9) New York Giants vs (6-8) St. Louis Rams- The Giants are coming off a home win against Washington. St. Louis is coming off a disappointing home loss against Arizona. Expect St. Louis to bounce back against a mediocre Giants team. Prediction: St. Louis 26, NY Giants 21.

(8-6) Buffalo Bills vs (2-12) Oakland Raiders- Buffalo is coming off a big home win against Green Bay. Oakland is coming off a road loss against Kansas City. It would not surprise me if Oakland won its third straight home game, but I believe Buffalo hangs around in playoff contention with a road win here. Prediction: Buffalo 28, Oakland 24.

(10-4) Indianapolis Colts vs (10-4) Dallas Cowboys- Indianapolis is coming off a big home win against Houston. Dallas is coming off a huge road win against Philadelphia. Indianapolis clinched their division last week and Dallas can with a win plus a Philadelphia loss. I believe Dallas gets closer to clinching a playoff spot with a win here. Prediction: Dallas 44, Indianapolis 38.

(10-4) Seattle Seahawks vs (11-3) Arizona Cardinals- Seattle is coming off a big home win against San Francisco. Arizona is coming off a huge road win against St. Louis in which quarterback Drew Stanton was lost potentially for the season with a knee injury. This game could very well decide the NFC West. Seattle is hitting on all cylinders, so expect another win, but the score to be closer than people think. Prediction: Seattle 23, Arizona 16.

Monday, December 22nd
(11-3) Denver Broncos vs (9-4-1) Cincinnati Bengals- Denver is coming off a big road win against San Diego. Cincinnati is coming off a big road win against Cleveland. This is the best Monday night game we've had in sometime. Denver has not had their best game of late, but I believe they find a way to win here against an inconsistent Cincinnati team. Prediction: Denver 30, Cincinnati 26.

2014-15 College Bowl Game Picks

Here are my picks for the 2014-15 College Bowl games.

Saturday, December 20th

New Orleans Bowl
Nevada (7-5) vs Louisiana-Lafayette (8-4)- These are two solid teams we have here in this game. Bob teams are good on offense and mediocre on defense. This was a tough call but I like Louisiana-Lafayette here with a little bit of a home field advantage in New Orleans.
Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette

New Mexico Bowl
Utah State (9-4) vs UTEP (7-5)- This matchup should be very interesting. Both of these teams are pretty solid but I like Utah State here.
Pick: Utah State

Pick: Colorado State

Pick: Bowling Green

Brigham Young (8-4) vs Memphis (9-3)- This is one of the more underrated games of this bowl seasons. I like BYU slightly better here.
Pick: Brigham Young

Pick: Northern Illinois

Poinsettia Bowl
Navy (7-5) vs San Diego State (7-5)- This should be an interesting game to say the least. I believe that San Diego State will pull this one out.
Pick: San Diego State

Wednesday, December 24th

Bahamas Bowl
Central Michigan (7-5) vs Western Kentucky (7-5)- This matchup is quite interesting to say the least. I like Western Kentucky here.
Pick: Western Kentucky

Hawaii Bowl
Fresno State (6-7) vs Rice (7-5)- Ironically, we have a team with a losing record in a bowl game in Fresno State and that's because they won their division. Rice on the other hand is a solid team that I just think is better than the underachieving Fresno State squad.
Pick: Rice

Friday, December 26th

Heart of Dallas Bowl
Illinois (6-6) vs Louisiana Tech (8-5)- I really don't like this game. Louisiana Tech is so much better than Illinois and it will show in the game.
Pick: Louisiana Tech

Quick Lane Bowl
Rutgers (7-5) vs North Carolina (6-6)- Neither of these teams are very good. North Carolina maybe .500 but I certainly think their better than this Rutgers team.
Pick: North Carolina

Saturday, December 27th

Military Bowl
Cincinnati (9-3) vs Virginia Tech (6-6)- The ACC is the more superior conference than the AAC. Cincinnati is just the better team than Virginia Tech and it will show here.
Pick: Cincinnati

Hyundai Sun Bowl
(15) Arizona State (9-3) vs Duke (9-3)- This is going to be one heck of a game. Neither team has not played great of late, but Arizona State is just the better team here.
Pick: Arizona State

Independence Bowl
Miami (FL) (6-6) vs South Carolina (6-6)- Both these teams have had disappointing seasons. The winner of this game won't surprise me, but I like South Carolina to take this one.
Pick: South Carolina

Pinstripe Bowl
Boston College (7-5) vs Penn State (6-6)- Neither of these teams are great, but this has the makings of an entertaining game. I think Boston College pulls it out.
Pick: Boston College

Holiday Bowl
Nebraska (9-3) vs (24) USC (8-4)- Nebraska has faltered down the stretch while USC has been lights out. That's the difference here.
Pick: USC

December 29th, 2014

Liberty Bowl
Texas A&M (7-5) vs West Virginia (7-5)- Both these teams got off to great starts and have regressed down the stretch (A&M more so than WVU). This could be one of the highest scoring bowl games. I like West Virginia slightly better here.
Pick: West Virginia

Russell Athletic Bowl
Oklahoma (8-4) vs (17) Clemson (9-3)- This is going to be a great game. Clemson may be ranked, but Oklahoma has a better offense and it will show here.
Pick: Oklahoma

Texas Bowl
Arkansas (6-6) vs Texas (6-6)- Both of these teams play in tough conferences and played well down the stretch. I feel that Arkansas has been slightly better than Texas.
Pick: Arkansas

December 30th, 2014

Music City Bowl
Notre Dame (7-5) vs (23) LSU (8-4)- This should be interesting game to say the least. LSU has been mediocre of late and Notre Dame has fallen off a cliff. I like LSU to win this one.
Pick: LSU

Belk Bowl
(13) Georgia (9-3) vs (21) Louisville (9-3)- This is going to be one great game. I just feel that Georgia is slightly better than Louisville.
Pick: Georgia

Foster Farms Bowl
Maryland (7-5) vs Stanford (7-5)- Maryland is a good offensive team while Stanford is great on defense. I like Stanford to take this one.
Pick: Stanford

December 31st, 2014

Peach Bowl
(9) Ole Miss (9-3) vs (6) TCU (11-1)- This is a great matchup to see evolve. I feel that TCU's offense is too much for a good Ole Miss team to overcome.
Pick: TCU

Fiesta Bowl
(20) Boise State (11-2) vs (10) Arizona (10-3)- This game is going to be fun to watch. I think Arizona takes this one in a thriller.
Pick: Arizona

Orange Bowl
(7) Mississippi State (10-2) vs (12) Georgia Tech (10-3)- This is going to be a great game. I'm feeling upset here.
Pick: Georgia Tech

January 1st, 2015

Outback Bowl
(19) Auburn (8-4) vs (18) Wisconsin (10-3)- This game should be fun to say the least. I feel that Auburn is just flat out better than Wisconsin and it will show here.
Pick: Auburn

Cotton Bowl
(8) Michigan State (10-2) vs (5) Baylor (11-1)- Here's another matchup where it's offense vs defense. Michigan State is a great defensive team while Baylor is great on offense. I personally think Baylor's offense will put up more points than Michigan State making big stops.
Pick: Baylor

Citrus Bowl
(16) Missouri (10-3) vs (25) Minnesota (8-4)- This is actually a very interesting matchup. Both these teams are very good, but I like the upset here.
Pick: Minnesota

Rose Bowl
(2) Oregon (12-1) vs (3) Florida State (13-0)- This is the most fascinating bowl game out of the ones being played on New Years Day. It's the first ever College Football playoff game in this new playoff format in where the winner of this game plays in the National championship. The matchup features this years Heisman Trophy winner in Oregon's Marcus Mariota against last years Heisman Trophy winner in FSU's Jameis Winston. I feel that Oregon is the better team here with the better quarterback in Mariota and I expect this to be a thriller.
Pick: Oregon

Sugar Bowl
(1) Alabama (12-1) vs Ohio State (12-1)- This is the other College Football playoff game in which the winner will play in the National Championship game. This matchup features two great teams that feature arguably the nations best coaches in Alabama's Nick Saban and Ohio State's Urban Meyer. Don't be surprised if Ohio State (with their third string quarterback) hangs around for the majority of the game because their a very talented team that can play with anyone. Expect Alabama to pull it out late though.
Pick: Alabama

January 2nd, 2015

Armed Forces Bowl
Houston (7-5) vs Pittsburgh (6-6)- This isn't that great of a game to be quite honest and both teams have new coaches now. I think Houston takes this one.
Pick: Houston

TaxSlayer Bowl
Iowa (7-5) vs Tennessee (6-6)- Both of these teams are pretty solid. This was a tough call, but I like Iowa slightly better here than Tennessee.
Pick: Iowa

Alamo Bowl
(11) Kansas State (9-3) vs (14) UCLA (9-3)- This is such a fascinating game from all aspects. Expect a shootout and for UCLA to pull it out.
Pick: UCLA

Cactus Bowl
Washington (8-5) vs Oklahoma State (6-6)- This is going to be an interesting matchup to say the least. I like Washington here.
Pick: Washington

January 3rd, 2015

Birmingham Bowl
East Carolina (8-4) vs Florida (6-5)- This should be a fun game. Florida may be in the better conference, but East Carolina is the better team here.
Pick: East Carolina.

January 4th, 2015

GoDaddy Bowl
Toledo (8-4) vs Arkansas State (7-5)- This can actually be a sneaky good game between two solid teams. I believe Arkansas State takes it.
Pick: Arkansas State

Candidates to replace Michael Malone as Kings head coach

The Sacramento Kings have fired head coach Michael Malone late last night. Here are some potential candidates that can potentially replace Malone.

2014 NFL Week 15 Picks

Here are my picks for week fifteen of the 2014 NFL season.

Thursday, December 11th
(10-3) Arizona Cardinals vs (6-7) St. Louis Rams- Arizona is coming off a huge home win against Kansas City. St. Louis is coming off yet another shut out victory on the road against Washington. This game will be a fun one to tune in for and I believe St. Louis pulls the game out against a short-handed Arizona team. Prediction: St. Louis 27, Arizona 20.

Sunday, December 14th
(2-11) Oakland Raiders vs (7-6) Kansas City Chiefs- Oakland is coming off a nice home win against San Francisco. Kansas City is coming off a tough road loss against Arizona. Oakland beat Kansas City a couple weeks ago, but Oakland was home. I believe Kansas City gets revenge here and comes out on top. Prediction: Kansas City 30, Oakland 21.

(2-11) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs (4-8-1) Carolina Panthers- Tampa Bay is coming off a road loss against Detroit. Carolina is coming off an impressive road win against New Orleans. Carolina is amazingly still alive in their division race since their division is so bad. Quarterback Cam Newton got into an accident earlier this week, so he will not play. Derek Anderson will get the start, but I believe Carolina's defense will impress again, which will lead them to their second straight win. Prediction: Carolina 27, Tampa Bay 23.

(7-6) Houston Texans vs (9-4) Indianapolis Colts- Houston is coming off a big road win against Jacksonville. Indianapolis is coming off a huge road win against Cleveland, which they did not play great in. If Indianapolis wins here, they would clinch the AFC South division, and I believe they will prevail. Prediction: Indianapolis 28, Houston 23.

(8-5) Pittsburgh Steelers vs (5-8) Atlanta Falcons- Pittsburgh is coming off a big road win against Cincinnati. Atlanta is coming off a tough road loss against Green Bay, which they actually made a game out of it. Atlanta's defense is a mess and Pittsburgh's offense was outstanding last week. I like Pittsburgh to win big here. Prediction: Pittsburgh 33, Atlanta 20.

(7-6) Miami Dolphins vs (10-3) New England Patriots- Miami is coming off a disappointing home loss against Baltimore. New England is coming off a big road win against San Diego. New England is playing as well as anyone in the league right now and I believe they continue their great play this week with a big home win and basically ending any realistic hope Miami has of making the playoffs. Prediction: New England 37, Miami 23.

(8-4-1) Cincinnati Bengals vs (7-6) Cleveland Browns- Cincinnati is coming off a disappointing home loss against Pittsburgh. Cleveland is coming off a tough home loss against Indianapolis, in a game they deserved to win. Cleveland is starting rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel this week, but I don't think it matters, because Cincinnati has shown they can bounce back from disappointing losses and I believe that continues. Prediction: Cincinnati 27, Cleveland 24.

(10-3) Green Bay Packers vs (7-6) Buffalo Bills- Green Bay is coming off a home win against Atlanta. Buffalo is coming off a tough road loss against Denver. Buffalo may surprise some folks again this week, but I believe Green Bay pulls away late in this one. Prediction: Green Bay 28, Buffalo 17.

(3-10) Washington Redskins vs (4-9) New York Giants- Washington is coming off a home shutout loss against St. Louis. The Giants finally snapped their seven game losing streak last week with a road win over Tennessee. It won't matter who starts at quarterback for Washington because they are a mess right now and the Giants will win their second straight. Prediction: NY Giants 37, Washington 20.

(2-11) Jacksonville Jaguars vs (8-5) Baltimore Ravens- Jacksonville is coming off a home loss against Houston. Baltimore is coming off a huge road win against Miami. Baltimore is poised to make a playoff push and j believe their fine play continues here at home against a bad Jacksonville team. Prediction: Baltimore 38, Jacksonville 16.

(2-11) New York Jets vs (2-11) Tennessee Titans- The Jets are coming off an overtime road loss against Minnesota. Tennessee is coming off a bad home loss against the Giants. This game is going to be so awful to watch, but expect the Jets to come out here with an ugly win. Prediction: NY Jets 17, Tennessee 13.

(10-3) Denver Broncos vs (8-5) San Diego Chargers- Denver is coming off a big home win against Buffalo. San Diego is coming off a disappointing home loss against New England. It wouldn't surprise me if either team won, but give me Denver who continues to find ways to win, even sometimes without their A game. Prediction: Denver 36, San Diego 30.

(6-7) Minnesota Vikings vs (9-4) Detroit Lions- Minnesota is coming off a home overtime win against the Jets. Detroit is coming off a home win against Tampa Bay. Detroit must win this game to keep their division and perhaps playoff hopes alive and I believe they'll get the job done. Prediction: Detroit 33, Minnesota 24.

(7-6) San Francisco 49ers vs (9-4) Seattle Seahawks- San Francisco is coming off a disastrous road loss against Oakland. Seattle is coming off a huge road win against Philadelphia, perhaps their biggest win of their season so far. Seattle is playing as good as anybody in the league while San Francisco is dealing with their own issues such as head coach Jim Harbaugh's future. Expect Seattle to dominate this one. Prediction: Seattle 33, San Francisco 16.

(9-4) Dallas Cowboys vs (9-4) Philadelphia Eagles- Dallas is coming off a huge road win against Chicago. Philadelphia is coming off a disappointing home loss against Seattle. This game could very well decide the NFC East. Dallas is undefeated on the road this season and I believe they get another big road win behind a huge night from their offense. Prediction: Dallas 34, Philadelphia 26.

Monday, December 15th
(5-8) New Orleans Saints vs (5-8) Chicago Bears- New Orleans is coming off a disastrous home loss against Carolina. Chicago is coming off a disappointing home loss against Dallas. This is clearly a battle of the teams who failed to live up to their preseason hype. This was a tough game to pick considering both teams have struggled so much on defense. I believe New Orleans takes this one to keep their hopes of winning their bad division alive. Prediction: New Orleans 30, Chicago 23.

2014 NFL Week 14 Picks

Here are my picks for week fourteen of the 2014 NFL season.

Thursday, December 4th
(8-4) Dallas Cowboys vs (5-7) Chicago Bears- Dallas is coming off a disastrous home loss on Thanksgiving against Philadelphia. Chicago is coming off a bad road loss on Thanksgiving against Detroit. Dallas is unbeaten on the road and I believe they get the job done again and bounce back against a mediocre Chicago team. Prediction: Dallas 27, Chicago 20.

Sunday, December 7th
(7-5) Pittsburgh Steelers vs (8-3-1) Cincinnati Bengals- Pittsburgh is coming off a disappointing home loss against New Orleans. Cincinnati is coming off a road win against Tampa Bay in which they were on the verge of losing and head coach Marvin Lewis saved his team a game by noticing Tampa Bay had too many players on the field and decided to use an illegal challenge to get it overturned. That said, I like Pittsburgh to win here on the road. Prediction: Pittsburgh 27, Cincinnati 23.

(8-4) Indianapolis Colts vs (7-6) Cleveland Browns- Indianapolis is coming off a home win against Washington. Cleveland is coming off a road loss against Buffalo in which quarterback Brian Hoyer was benched for rookie Johnny Manziel during the game. Hoyer will start this week according to head coach Mike Pettine. This game should be interesting but I believe Indianapolis gets a big road win here. Prediction: Indianapolis 30, Cleveland 24.

(2-10) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs (8-4) Detroit Lions- Tampa Bay is coming off a home loss against Cincinnati in which they almost won. Detroit is coming off a big home win against Chicago on Thanksgiving. Detroit must win this game if they want to stay in the playoff hunt and I believe they get the job done. Prediction: Detroit 33, Tampa Bay 24.

(6-6) Houston Texans vs (2-10) Jacksonville Jaguars- Houston is coming off a big home win against Tennessee. Jacksonville is coming off a home win against the Giants in which they came back from being down 21-0 to win. Houston should be able to win this one on the road and I think they will. Prediction: Houston 31, Jacksonville 20.

(7-5) Baltimore Ravens vs (7-5) Miami Dolphins- Baltimore is coming off a home loss against San Diego. Miami is coming off a road win against the Jets at MetLife on Monday night. This is a huge game by all means and the winner of this game could very well earn a wild card berth in the AFC playoff picture. I trust Baltimore more than Miami in this situation and I believe Baltimore wins this game on the road. Prediction: Baltimore 30, Miami 26.

(2-10) New York Jets vs (5-7) Minnesota Vikings- The Jets are coming off a home loss against Miami on Monday night. Minnesota is coming off an impressive home win against Carolina. Minnesota is not a terrible team by any means and I believe they continue to impress here with a win over a bad Jets team. Prediction: Minnesota 33, NY Jets 17.

(3-8-1) Carolina Panthers vs (5-7) New Orleans Saints- Carolina is coming off a road loss against Minnesota. New Orleans is coming off an impressive road win against Pittsburgh. New Orleans is poised to snap a rare three game home-losing streak and I believe they will. Prediction: New Orleans 34, Carolina 20.

(3-9) New York Giants vs (2-10) Tennessee Titans- The Giants are coming off an inexplicable road loss in which they led 21-0 in against Jacksonville. Tennessee is coming off a bad road loss against Houston. This was a tough game to pick considering how poor the these teams have been playing, but something tells me that the Giants will come out with something to prove. Prediction: NY Giants 28, Tennessee 23.

(5-7) St. Louis Rams vs (3-9) Washington Redskins- St. Louis is coming off an impressive home win against Oakland. Washington is coming off a road loss against Indianapolis. Although Washington lost the game last week, head coach Jay Gruden clearly made the right decision by starting quarterback Colt McCoy over Robert Griffin III. On the flip side, St. Louis maybe due for a letdown after a few big wins, but I don't see it here. Prediction: St. Louis 31, Washington 26.

(7-5) Kansas City Chiefs vs (9-3) Arizona Cardinals- Kansas City is coming off a disappointing home loss against Denver. Arizona is coming off a bad road loss against Atlanta. This game is a huge game for both teams by all accounts. The winner of this game would not surprise me either way. I have a hunch Kansas City finds a way to win a huge road game. Prediction: Kansas City 27, Arizona 21.

(7-5) Buffalo Bills vs (9-3) Denver Broncos- Buffalo is coming off a huge home win against Cleveland. Denver is coming off an impressive road win against Kansas City. Who would've thought this game would be relevant this late in the season? I certainly didn't in September because I didn't think Buffalo would be over .500 in December. Expect Denver to pull this one out late at home. Prediction: Denver 38, Buffalo 23.

(7-5) San Francisco 49ers vs (1-11) Oakland Raiders- San Francisco is coming off a disastrous home loss against Seattle on Thanksgiving. Oakland is coming off a shutout road loss against St. Louis. Neither team played good at all last week, but my gut says to go with San Francisco in a closer game than people would expect. Prediction: San Francisco 26, Oakland 20.

(8-4) Seattle Seahawks vs (9-3) Philadelphia Eagles- Seattle is coming off a big road win against San Francisco on Thanksgiving. Philadelphia is coming off a big road win against Dallas on Thanksgiving. This is the arguably biggest game in the NFC this season. I believe this game is going to be fun to watch and I think Philadelphia pulls it out at home. Prediction: Philadelphia 33, Seattle 27.

(9-3) New England Patriots vs (8-4) San Diego Chargers- New England is coming off a road loss against Green Bay. San Diego is coming off a great come from behind win against Baltimore on the road. This is one huge game and I believe New England bounces back because I cannot see them losing back-to-back games. Prediction: New England 30, San Diego 24.

Monday, December 8th
(5-7) Atlanta Falcons vs (9-3) Green Bay Packers- Atlanta is coming off a nice home win against Arizona, which amazingly with their poor record is in first place in their division. Green Bay is coming off a big home win against New England. Arguably no one in the league is playing better than Green Bay and I don't see it going away here at home. Prediction: Green Bay 42, Atlanta 20.

Monday, December 1, 2014

2014 Week 15 College Football Picks

Here are my picks for weeks fifteen and sixteen of the college football season.

Thursday, December 4th
UCF (8-3) vs East Carolina (8-3)
Pick: East Carolina

Friday, December 5th
Bowling Green (7-5) vs Northern Illinois (10-2)- This is a great matchup for a MAC conference championship game. It will be played at Detroit's Ford Field and I like Northern Illinois to win this conference title.
Pick: Northern Illinois

Arizona (10-2) vs Oregon (11-1)- These two teams played one another earlier in the season and Arizona won the contest on the road. This time, these two great teams will be playing for the Pac-12 championship at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. I believe Oregon and the nationals best quarterback Marcus Mariotta will win a tight game.
Pick: Oregon

Saturday, December 6th
Louisiana Tech (8-4) vs Marshall (11-1)- This is actually an interesting C-USA championship matchup. These two teams did not meet during the season and now they meet. The game will be played in Huntington, West Virginia, which is where Marshall plays and I think home field advantage is the difference here.
Pick: Marshall

Houston (7-4) vs Cincinnati (8-3)- Unfortunately, this is not a conference championship game, but it
is a great matchup. I think Cincinnati wins a close one.
Pick: Cincinnati

SMU (0-11) vs UConn (2-9)
Pick: UConn

Iowa State (2-9) vs TCU (10-1)
Pick: TCU

Oklahoma State (5-6) vs Oklahoma (8-3)
Pick: Oklahoma

Alabama (11-1) vs Missouri (10-2)- This is am awesome matchup for the SEC championship game. These teams didn't meet during the season yet. The game will be played in Atlanta's Georgia Dome. This should be a classic, high scoring game with Alabama winning the conference yet again.
Pick: Alabama

Temple (5-6) vs Tulane (3-8)
Pick: Temple

Kansas State (9-2) vs Baylor (10-1)- This is some Big-12 game. The winner of this game would not surprise me either way, but Baylor is tough to beat in Waco.
Pick: Baylor

Florida State (12-0) vs Georgia Tech (10-2)- This is arguably the most intriguing conference championship game. The game is being played in Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium. These two teams didn't meet in the season yet. Florida State has won a ton of close games while Georgia Tech has been playing great. It's too tough to bet against Florida State at this point and I think they will win yet another close game and an ACC title.
Pick: Florida State

Wisconsin (10-2) vs Ohio State (11-1)- This should be a fun Big-10 championship game. These teams have not met yet. This game is being played in Indianapolis's Lucas Oil Stadium. Ohio State quarterback JT Barrett is out for the rest of the season with a fractured ankle. Wisconsin running back and Heisman candidate Melvin Gordon will be a difference maker in this game en route to Wisconsin winning the conference title over Ohio State.
Pick: Wisconsin

Fresno State (6-6) vs Boise State (10-2)- This should be a quite entertaining Mountain West conference title game. These two teams met earlier in the season in Boise and BSU won. Fresno State has underachieved this season and are still in the conference title game. The fact this game is in Boise too is what should push BSU to the Mountain West conference championship.
Pick: Boise State

Saturday, December 13th
Navy (6-5) vs Army (4-7)
Pick: Navy

Sunday, November 30, 2014

2014 NFL Week 13 Picks

Here are my picks for week thirteen of the 2014 NFL season.

Thursday, November 27th
(5-6) Chicago Bears vs (7-4) Detroit Lions- Chicago is coming off a home win against a lowly Tampa Bay team. Detroit is coming off a disappointing road loss against New England. This should be an entertaining first game of the holiday for sure. Expect Detroit to pull it out at home. Prediction: Detroit 26, Chicago 20.

(8-3) Philadelphia Eagles vs (8-3) Dallas Cowboys- This game is the most relevant NFC East showdown to this point. Philadelphia is coming off a home win against Tennessee. Dallas is coming off a great come from behind win in New Jersey against the Giants. This should be another great game with Dallas coming out on top. Prediction: Dallas 35, Philadelphia 30.

(7-4) Seattle Seahawks vs (7-4) San Francisco 49ers- Many people believe this is the best current rivalry in the league and don't forget what happened the last time they met. Seattle is coming off a big home win against Arizona. San Francisco is coming off a big home win against Washington. Seattle's defense looks like it's getting back in groove and you can say the opposite for San Francisco's offense. That's the difference in this one. Prediction: Seattle 24, San Francisco 20.

Sunday, November 30th
(1-10) Oakland Raiders vs (4-7) St. Louis Rams- Oakland is coming off their first victory of the season last Thursday night at home against Kansas City. St. Louis is coming off a tough loss against San Diego. Expect this game to be a close one, but St. Louis to come out on top. Prediction: St. Louis 28, Oakland 24.

(3-8) New York Giants vs (1-10) Jacksonville Jaguars- The Giants are coming off a tough home loss against Dallas. Jacksonville is coming off a bad road loss against Indianapolis. Expect quarterback Eli Manning and talented rookie wideout Odell Beckham Jr, who made perhaps the best catch ever last week, to finally break their losing skid against a bad Jacksonville team. Prediction: NY Giants 30, Jacksonville 20.

(2-9) Tennessee Titans vs (5-6) Houston Texans- This is actually an interesting game. Tennessee is coming off a road loss against Philadelphia. Houston is coming off a disappointing home loss against Cincinnati. Quarterback Ryan Mallett is out for the season with a torn right pectoral muscle. Ryan Fitzpatrick is under center again, but I still think Houston comes out on top. Prediction: Houston 26, Tennessee 21.

(3-7-1) Carolina Panthers vs (4-7) Minnesota Vikings- Carolina is coming off their bye week and two weeks ago, they lost at home against Atlanta. Minnesota is coming off a home loss against Green Bay, in which they played well in. I believe Minnesota builds on last weeks nice effort and wins at home against a mediocre Carolina team. Prediction: Minnesota 27, Carolina 20.

(7-3-1) Cincinnati Bengals vs (2-9) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Cincinnati is coming off a big road win against Houston. Tampa Bay is coming off a road loss against Chicago. Cincinnati is by far better than Tampa Bay and I believe they continue their success on the road. Prediction: Cincinnati 27, Tampa Bay 17.

(3-8) Washington Redskins vs (7-4) Indianapolis Colts- Washington is coming off a road loss against San Francisco. Indianapolis is coming off a home win against Jacksonville. Washington has been a disaster lately with the benching of quarterback Robert Griffin III for Colt McCoy. Indianapolis is my lock of the week. Prediction: Indianapolis 40, Washington 20.

(7-4) Cleveland Browns vs (6-5) Buffalo Bills- Cleveland is coming off a road win against Atlanta. Buffalo is coming off a big win against the Jets in Detroit. Buffalo is back home after the snowstorm and I believe they will win a big home game against an overrated Cleveland team. Prediction: Buffalo 26, Cleveland 23.

(4-7) New Orleans Saints vs (7-4) Pittsburgh Steelers- New Orleans is coming off a disappointing home loss against Baltimore. Pittsburgh is coming off their bye and two weeks ago, they won on a Monday night on the road in Tennessee. Pittsburgh always rises to the occasion for big home games and they'll do it here against an underachieving New Orleans team. Prediction: Pittsburgh 33, New Orleans 24.

(7-4) San Diego Chargers vs (7-4) Baltimore Ravens- San Diego is coming off a home win against St. Louis. Baltimore is coming off a huge road win against New Orleans. San Diego is a very soft 7-4 and that'll show in Baltimore when a hot team makes a statement at home. Prediction: Baltimore 34, San Diego 23.

(9-2) Arizona Cardinals vs (4-7) Atlanta Falcons- Arizona is coming off a bad road loss against Seattle. Atlanta is coming off a disappointing home loss against Cleveland in which head coach Mike Smith pretty much lost the game on his own. Arizona must win this game and I believe they will bounce back here on the road. Prediction: Arizona 24, Atlanta 20.

(9-2) New England Patriots vs (8-3) Green Bay Packers- This is the best game of week thirteen and it might not be close. Super Bowl XLIX preview? New England is coming off a big home win against Detroit. Green Bay is coming off a road win against Minnesota. Lambeau Field just maybe the difference here for Green Bay. Prediction: Green Bay 41, New England 37.

(8-3) Denver Broncos vs (7-4) Kansas City Chiefs- This is a big game. Denver is coming off a big come from behind home win against Miami. Kansas City is coming off a bad loss against Oakland last Thursday night. This should be a fun game and expect Denver to squeak it out on the road. Prediction: Denver 34, Kansas City 27.

Monday, December 1st
(6-5) Miami Dolphins vs (2-9) New York Jets- Miami is coming off a tough road loss against Denver, which they went toe to toe with. The Jets are coming off a pathetic loss against Buffalo. Miami might be due for a let down after playing well in Denver, but I don't see it here. Prediction: Miami 30, NY Jets 20.
