2018 NBA Playoffs: Semifinals Predictions

Here are my predictions for the Semifinals for the 2018 NBA Playoffs.

Eastern Conference
(1) Toronto Raptors vs (4) Cleveland Cavaliers: The Raptors are coming off a six game series win over the Washington Wizards. The Cavaliers are coming off a seven game series win over the Indiana Pacers. Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan deserve credit for coming up big in this series and they have the backcourt advantage in the series over George Hill and Kyle Korver although Hill came off the bench in game seven and Tristan Thompson started. The Cavs have a slim frontcourt advantage with Thompson and Kevin Love over the Raptors's Serge Ibaka and Jonas Valenciunas (unless LeBron James starts at power forward and Love moves back to center). The Raptors bench is solid, but Fred Van-Vleet has not been healthy. The Cavs bench changes by the game it feels like and guys like Rodney Hood and Cedi Osman have to play well. That said, the best player in the series is LeBron James, who should win the MVP this season and he will lift the Cavs to their fourth straight Eastern Conference Finals.
Prediction: Cavaliers in six games.

 (2) Boston Celtics vs (3) Philadelphia 76ers: The Celtics are coming off a seven game series win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The 76ers are coming off an impressive five game series win over the Miami Heat. With Jaylen Brown out for game one, the Cetlics will probably start Marcus Smart with Terry Rozier in the backcourt. The Sixers backcourt is great with Ben Simmons and JJ Redick. Joel Embiid alone gives the Sixers the frontcourt edge along with Dario Saric over Boston's Semi Ojeleye and Al Horford. The Sixers bench is really good with Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilaysova leading the way. I think the C's are better off with Ojeleye off the bench and Aaron Baynes starting, but it's worked out for them. Marcus Morris has to step up for the C's off the bench. If the C's are to make this a series, Jayson Tatum and Brown have to step up again. The Sixers are just better this time around although this pick would be a lot harder if Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward were healthy.
Prediction: 76ers in six games.

Western Conference
(1) Houston Rockets vs (5) Utah Jazz: This should be an interesting series. The Rockets are coming off a five game series win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Jazz are coming off a six game series win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Both teams have great backcourts with Chris Paul and James Harden for Houston and Donovan Mitchell and Ricky Rubio for the Jazz (although Rubio may miss most of the series with a hamstring injury). Royce O'Neale will start while Rubio is out with Joe Ingles on the wing. The Jazz have the frontcourt advantage with Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert although the Rockets have a good frontcourt with Trevor Ariza starting at the 4 with Clint Capela. The Rockets bench is solid with Eric Gordon and Luc Mbah a Moute leading the way. The Jazz bench is solid with O'Neale, Jae Crowder, and Alec Burks. That said, Harden is the best player in the series although Mitchell and Gobert will keep the Jazz hanging around although they'll miss Rubio.
Prediction: Rockets in six games.

(2) Golden State Warriors vs (6) New Orleans Pelicans: The Warriors are coming off a five game series win over the San Antonio Spurs. The Pelicans are coming off an impressive four game sweep over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Dubs are getting Steph Curry back for game two of the series and he and Klay Thompson provide a backcourt edge for the Warriors although Jrue Holliday and Rajon Rondo have been tremendous for the Pels. The frontcourt advantage goes to the Pelicans solely because of Anthony Davis. Nikola Mirotic has had moment for the Pelicans starting at the 4. It should be interesting to see once Curry comes back to see what the Dubs frontcourt will look like to start games since of late it's been Draymond Green and Kevin Durant starting up front with Andre Igoudala starting at the 3. My bet is that they go back to their normal starting five with either Zaza Pachulia or Jake McGee starting at the 5 with Igoudala off the bench. Shaun Livingston, Kevin Looney, and David West have been solid off the bench lately for the Dubs and the Pela don't have a good bench at all, but it held it's own against the Blazers with guys like Ian Clark and Darius Miller getting minutes. That said, the Warriors will be healthy and they'll get to their fourth Conference Finals in a row although Davis will steal a few games for the Pelicans.
Prediction: Warriors in six games.

2018 NFL Mock Draft: Final Edition

Here is the final edition of my 2018 NFL Mock Draft.

1. Cleveland Browns- Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma: There is growing momentum that the Browns are going to select Mayfield first overall tonight. Could the reports be wrong? Possibly. Sam Darnold and Josh Allen are possibilities.

2. New York Giants- Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State: When it's all said and done, the Giants snag the best player in the draft. There's chatter that they select Sam Darnold here if the Browns pass on him and a trade down is a possibility as well.

3. New York Jets (from Indianapolis Colts)- Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC: Even the Jets can't screw this up. Darnold is the choice here as the Jets select the drafts best quarterback. I don't see them passing on Darnold if he's still available unless Baker Mayfield is still on the board.

4. Cleveland Browns (from Houston Texans)- Bradley Chubb, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, North Carolina State: There's a distinct possibility that this pick is traded. Lets say the Browns take Chub here to pair with Myles Garrett to form a promising young pass rush.

5. Denver Broncos- Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA: John Elway really wants to trade down. But the Broncos have a need at quarterback. They take Rosen here to be their long term answer at the games most important position.

6. Indianapolis Colts (from New York Jets)- Quenton Nelson, Guard, Notre Dame: The Colts take Nelson to solidify their offensive line as they have to keep Andrew Luck upright and healthy. Nelson is easily the best offensive lineman in the draft and it would be shocking to see him fall passed 8th. It also won't be surprising if the Colts trade down again.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Derwin James, Safety, Florida State: James being picked at this spot is gaining momentum as we are approaching the draft. James is arguably the best defensive play maker in the draft and the Bucs have a huge need at safety.

8. Chicago Bears- Roquan Smith, Linebacker, Georgia: Smith's stock is rising as we approach the draft to the point that it won't be shocking if he's picked higher than this. The Ringer's Mike Lombardi thinks there's an outside chance the Giants take Smith at 2 which is ludicrous. Smith would fit nicely in the Bears defense as they are in need of playmakers.

9. San Francisco 49ers- Tremaine Edmunds, Linebacker, Virginia Tech: The Niners almost have to take a linebacker here if Edmunds or Roquan Smith is still available due to Reuben Foster's uncertainty. Edmunds will only be 20 years old once the season starts. Don't rule out the Niners trading down here either.

10. Oakland Raiders- Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State: Jon Gruden and Company have options. Secondary, if one of the linebackers are there, defensive line, or even offensive line is in play. Lets say they take Ward to improve their secondary. His skill set is hard to come by in the league.

11. Miami Dolphins- Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama: The Dolphins get a steal here with Fitzpatrick. He's arguably the best defensive player in the draft and his versatility makes him special. Don't rule out the Dolphins moving up to take a quarterback, either.

12. Buffalo Bills (from Cincinnati Bengals)- Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming: I think the Bills move up and take one of these quarterbacks. It doesn't help Allen that he was forced to delete old tweets that had racial slurs in them from back when he was in high school. I don't think that matters. Teams are desperate to move up for quarterbacks and Allen has the highest upside among the quarterbacks in the draft.

13. Washington Redskins- Vita Vea, Defensive Tackle, Washington: This pick makes a ton of sense. Although the Redskins have to consider one of the Roquan Smith, Tremaine Edmunds, Minkah Fitzpatrick, or even Denzel Ward if there still here on the board. Vea is a big body that's going to be a wrecking force on someone's defensive line.

14. Green Bay Packers- Mike McGlinchey, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame: The Packers probably should go defense with their pick, but they decide to take McGlinchey to improve their offensive line. Don't rule out the Packers moving up for one of the better defensive lineman or linebackers.

15. Arizona Cardinals- Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville: The Cardinals are obviously another trade up candidate here. Don't rule out a defensive player of an offensive lineman either, but a foundation of Jackson and David Johnson long term is hard to pass up on.

16. Baltimore Ravens- DJ Moore, Wide Receiver, Maryland: Moore gets picked here by the Ravens as there is momentum towards this happening. Don't rule out Calvin Ridley or an offensive lineman here.

17. Los Angeles Chargers- Da'Ron Payne, Defensive Tackle, Alabama: The Chargers pose what is arguably the best edge rushing duo in the league with Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. Adding someone like Payne would only make that defensive line better.

18. Seattle Seahawks- Marcus Davenport, Defensive End, UTSA: The Seahawks lost so many of their key pieces of their defensive line lately which makes Davenport a nice selection here. He is athletic, moves very well, and has physicality, which Pete Carroll would like.

19. Dallas Cowboys- Leighton Vander-Esch, Linebacker, Boise State: The Cowboys pass on a wide receiver and take the talented linebacker in Vander-Esch. A defensive lineman or defensive back is in play for this spot as well.

20. Detroit Lions- Harold Landry, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Boston College: Landry is pegged to go all over the place, but it would be surprising if he fell out of the first round. He'd be a nice pairing with Ziggy Ansah on that pass rush.

21. Cincinnati Bengals (from Buffalo Bills)- James Daniels, Center, Iowa: This pick feels like either Daniels or Arkansas's Frank Rangrow as the Bengals need to help protect Andy Dalton. Don't rule out a linebacker or pass rusher here either.

22. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City Chiefs)- Maurice Hurst, Defensive Tackle, Michigan: Hurst had a heart condition at the combine and that might drop him out of the first round. Hurst doesn't have the size that teams are generally looking for in an interior defensive lineman, but his quickness more than makes up for that deficiency and makes him in particular a great threat rushing the passer on third downs.

23. New England Patriots (from Los Angeles Rams)- Kolton Miller, Offensive Tackle, UCLA: Miller put together a great final season at the collegiate level and he would fit right away replacing Nate Solder on the Pats O-line. Miller is big and strong and would help protect Tom Brady during his twilight years.

24. Carolina Panthers- Will Hernandez, Guard, UTEP: No brainer pick here as the Panthers find their replacement for Andrew Norwell. Hernandez is big and powerful and he provides mobility.

25. Tennessee Titans- Rashaan Evans, Linebacker, Alabama: Evans brings an athletic presence who can fill multiple roles. He was more of an edge defender early in his career however, he also showed well in a more traditional role over the last two years.

26. Atlanta Falcons- Taven Bryan, Defensive Tackle, Florida: The Falcons take Bryan here to help replace Dontari Poe. Bryan has drawn comparisons to JJ Watt in the past.

27. New Orleans Saints- Dallas Goedert, Tight End, South Dakota State: Goedert's draft stock is trending down due to injury concerns. Goedert is thought out by some to be the best tight end in this draft class and would be a nice weapon for Drew Brees.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers- Josh Jackson, Cornerback, Iowa: With Rashaan Evans and Leighton Vander-Esch off the board, the Steelers take Jackson, who is someone that's might go in the top 15 or completely fall out of the first round. He led the FBS in interceptions last season and has size and speed.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars- Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama: Ridley dropping this far would be a massive steal for the Jaguars as they find someone to replace Allen Robinson. Ridley brings a downfield, speedy option on the outside that would bring a different look to the Jags offense.

30. Minnesota Vikings- Isaiah Wynn, Guard/Offensive Tackle, Georgia: The Vikings bolster their offensive line by selecting Wynn, who could be a possible steal. He can play tackle if needed but will succeed as a guard instantly and plays with outstanding leverage and has the athleticism to mirror pass-rushers.

31. New England Patriots- Mike Hughes, Cornerback, UCF: The Pats decide whether to take quarterback to take Tom Brady's long term replacement, a tight end to eventually replace Rob Gronkowski, or to get a young defensive player? They go defense and take Hughes to replace Malcolm Butler in their secondary.

32. Philadelphia Eagles- Jaire Alexander, Cornerback, Louisville: Alexander is a fast riser on many peoples mock boards and the Eagles can use another corner after losing Patrick Robinson in free agency. He is great in man-to-man coverage and could be drafted higher than this.

2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Semifinal Predictions

Here are my predictions for the Semifinals of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Eastern Conference
(A1) Tampa Bay Lightning vs (A2) Boston Bruins: This is going to be some series between two of the conferences best teams. The Lightning are coming off a five game series win over the New Jersey Devils. The Bruins are coming off an epic seven game series win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Bolts offense is awesome led by Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, and Brayden Point. The Bruins offense is awesome too led by Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, David Krejci, and David Pasternak. The Bolts defense is really solid led by Victor Hedman, Anton Stralman, Ryan McDonagh, and Mikael Sergachev. The B's defense is really good too led by Zdeno Chara, Charlie McAvoy, and Torey Krug. Both goalies for these teams are really good as well with Andre Vasilevskiy for the Bolts and Tuuka Rask for the Bruins. This is bound to go to distance, but I like the Bolts offensive depth to be the difference here as well as Vasilevskiy in net as he was great in the Devils series meanwhile, Rask wasn't great in the Toronto series.
Prediction: Lightning in seven games.

(M1) Washington Capitals vs (A2) Pittsburgh Steelers: Here we go. Take Three. The Capitals are coming off a six game series win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Penguins are coming off a six game series win over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Caps are very good offensively led by Alex Ovechkin, Nik Backstrom, TJ Oshie, and Evgeny Kuznestov. The Pens are great offensively led by Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Phil Kessel and Malkin will miss game one of the series due to a lower body injury. The Caps defense is very good led by John Carlson and Dmitry Orlov. The Pens are not as good defensively with a lot of departures from the last two years but Kris Letang and Olli Maata are still around. Braden Holtby earned his job back after Philipp Grubauer didn't do the job the first two games of the Columbus series and Holtby was very good. Matt Murray was good in net in the Philadelphia series, but he can be better. It feels like: Death, Taxes, Crosby beats Ovechkin in the playoffs and that will be the case again as the Pens advance to their third Conference Final in a row.
Prediction: Penguins in six games.

Western Conference
(C1) Nashville Predators vs (C2) Winnipeg Jets: This series is the best of the second round. The Preds are coming off a six game series win over the Colorado Avalanche. The Jets are coming off a five game series win over the Minnesota Wild. The Preds are great offensively led by Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, and Ryan Johansen. The Jets are great offensively led by Patrick Laine, Blake Wheeler, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Mark Scheifele. The Preds have the leagues best defense led by Roman Josi, PK Subban, Ryan Ellis. The Jets defense is better than given credit for led by Dustin Byfuglien and Jacob Trouba. We have two Vezina Trophy finalists with the Preds's Pekka Rinne and the Jets's Connor Hellebuyck. This is bound to go to distance and the Preds with their experience will propel them.
Prediction: Predators in seven games.

(P1) Vegas Golden Knights vs (P3) San Jose Sharks: Here we have the most underrated series of the first round. The Golden Knights are coming off an impressive four game sweep over the Los Angeles Kings. The Sharks are coming off an impressive sweep of their own too over the Anaheim Ducks. The Golden Knights are solid offensively led by William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault, David Perron, and Reilly Smith. The Sharks are really good offensively too led by Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, Evander Kane, and Tomas Hertl. The Golden Knights defense is really good led by Nate Schmidt and Colin Miller. The Sharks defense is solid too led by Brent Burns and Marc-Édouard Vlasic. Marc-Andre Fleury might be the super early favorite for the Conn Smythe Trophy as he was outstanding in net in the first round. Martin Jones was superb in the first round as well. This is going to distance as well and give me the Golden Knights.
Prediction: Golden Knights in seven games.

2018 NFL Mock Draft: Thirteenth Edition

Here is my thirteenth edition of my 2018 NFL Draft.

1. Cleveland Browns- Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC: There was a recent report that it's down to Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield for the top spot, but I'm not fully buying that and I'm keeping Darnold in this spot, for now. Darnold has the highest floor of all the quarterbacks in this draft and he has the athleticism, the leadership, good throwing arm, and clutch play as he's shown at the collegiate level.

2. New York Giants- Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State: What Dave Gettleman will do with the second overall pick is the biggest question of this entire draft. This pick feels inevitable now because the Giants love Barkley and what should be an improved offensive line, he'll help the Giants tremendously.

3. New York Jets (from Indianapolis Colts)- Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma: There is a lot of speculation that the Jets will take Mayfield here unless Darnold is still on the board, although there are some rumors that the Jets can snag Josh Rosen here. Mayfield has a ton of potential with his gunslinger mentality although due to his height and off the court antics, is compared to Johnny Manziel.

4. Cleveland Browns (from Houston Texans)- Bradley Chubb, Defensive End, North Carolina State: There is a lot of speculation now that the Browns will take Chubb here to pair with Myles Garrett whether Barkley is still on the board or not. Chubb a three-down back that would help them pressure opposing quarterbacks and having him and Garrett together would be a nice start.

5. Denver Broncos- Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA: Although there are reports out there that John Elway wants to trade down, they have a need at quarterback and Rosen would be a fine choice. His stock was dropping due to his concussion issues and his former coach Jim Mora throwing him under the bus. Rosen is thought out by some to be the safest bet in this draft (in terms of quarterbacks) due to his accuracy and refined throwing mechanics.

6. Indianapolis Colts (from New York Jets)- Quenton Nelson, Guard, Notre Dame: The most important thing for the Colts going forward is keeping Andrew Luck healthy. A good start is a better offensive line and why not pick the best offensive lineman in this draft? Nelson seems like a sure thing and worthy of a top-ten pick and could go as high as fourth overall and it this point it would be shocking to see Nelson slip past eight.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Derwin James, Strong Safety, Florida State: Many people have James linked to the Bucs right now. He's arguably the best defensive playmaker in the draft and James is the new NFL prototype as a safety capable of producing against the run or in both man and zone coverage.

8. Chicago Bears- Roquan Smith, Linebacker, Georgia: This would be a solid pick for the Bears, who need playmakers on defense. Smith brings speed and athleticism to the field and that's good for a young defense.

9. San Francisco 49ers- Tremaine Edmunds, Linebacker, Virginia Tech: With Reuben Foster's future with the team suddenly in doubt after his arrest, the Niners almost have to take a linebacker here if either Roquan Smith or Edmunds is available. Edmunds will only be twenty years old once the season gets going and he will give the Niners defense another look.

10. Oakland Raiders-Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State: The Raiders have a ton of options here and it's obvious that they will go defense here with Ward, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Vita Vea being options. Ward isn't the biggest cornerback in the draft but he can cover skills that are hard to come by in the league.

11. Miami Dolphins- Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama: Fitzpatrick dropping this far would be somewhat surprising as the Dolphins snag a steal to improve their secondary. Fitzpatrick's versatility makes him special and he's perhaps the best defensive player in this draft.

12. Buffalo Bills (from Cincinnati Bengals)- Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming: The Bills are doing backflips as Allen falls to them here at twelve (although I believe a trade up is a distinct possibility). Allen has the most upside among the quarterbacks in this draft class due to his athleticism, arm strength, and size and draws comparisons to Carson Wentz.

13. Washington Redskins- Vita Vea, Defensive End, Washington: Vea, a massive presence in the middle of a defensive line, will go a long way toward fixing that deficiency, while also providing enough quickness to penetrate into the backfield on some third downs. He also has quick feet and good movement skill for a big defensive lineman.

14. Green Bay Packers- Harold Landry, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Boston College: Landry is all over the map in terms of where people have him mocked in these mock drafts. Landry didn't have a great final season in college, but has the tools to be a solid pro.

15. Arizona Cardinals- Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville: The Cards are another trade up candidate, but here I have them selecting Jackson, who's a good decision maker and passer. The Cards know that Mike Glennon and Sam Bradford are not the long-term answers and Jackson would in theory be in a red-shirt situation here and a long-term foundation of Jackson and David Johnson is tough to pass up on.

16. Baltimore Ravens- Mike McGlinchey, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame: After pegging wide receivers here for a ton of my mock drafts, McGlinchey is the choice here as the Ravens look to improve their offensive line. He isn't that strong, but he's athletic and brings stability and would play alongside former college teammate Ronald Stanley.

19. Dallas Cowboys-
DJ Moore, Wide Receiver, Maryland: Moore is a fast riser on many peoples draft boards and the Cowboys snag him to help Dak Prescott and replace Dez Bryant. There are people that think Moore could end up being the best receiver in this draft class.

20. Detroit Lions- Taven Bryan, Defensive End, Florida: The Lions need to improve their pass rush and taking Bryan here to pair with Ziggy Ansah is a nice start. Bryan has drawn comparisons to JJ Watt and would be a good fit in Matt Patricia's defense.

21. Cincinnati Bengals (from Buffalo Bills)- James Daniels, Center, Iowa: Daniels is trending up many peoples mock boards and a ton of people have Daniels linked to Cincinnati. He's a good athlete and good technician for a center.

22. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City Chiefs)- Rashaan Evans, Linebacker, Alabama: Evans brings an athletic presence who can fill multiple roles. He was more of an edge defender early in his career however, he also showed well in a more traditional role over the last two years.

25. Tennessee Titans- Leighton Vander Esch, Linebacker, Boise State: Vander Esch is rising up many peoples mocks drafts of late to the point where this is a steal for the Titans. They have a need at linebacker with Avery Williamson departing in free agency and Vander Esch would be a nice replacement, who brings great athleticism, speed, and has incredible size and length.

26. Atlanta Faclons- Maurice Hurst, Defensive Tackle, Michigan: Hurst had a heart condition at the combine and that might drop him out of the first round. Hurst doesn't have the size that teams are generally looking for in an interior defensive lineman, but his quickness more than makes up for that deficiency and makes him in particular a great threat rushing the passer on third downs.

2018 NFL Mock Draft: Twelfth Edition

Here is my twelfth edition of my 2018 NFL Draft.

1. Cleveland Browns- Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC: After having Allen at the top spot for a few mock drafts, I switched back to Darnold at the top as many are speculating that Darnold will be the top choice for the Browns, although there arerumors out of Dallas that Baker Mayfield could end up going first.

8. Chicago Bears- Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama: Fitzpatrick is being pegged to go between seventh and tenth and after having Denzel Ward in this spot last time, I switched to Fitzpatrick with the Bucs taking Derwin James. Fitzpatrick's versatility makes him special and he's perhaps the best defensive player in this draft.

9. San Francisco 49ers- Roquan Smith, Linebacker, Georgia: With Reuben Foster's future with the team suddenly in doubt after his arrest, the Niners almost have to take a linebacker here if either Smith or Edmunds is available. 11. Miami Dolphins- Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State: The Dolphins pass on young linebacker Tremaine Edmunds here and take the corner in Ward. He isn't the biggest cornerback in the draft but he can cover skills that are hard to come by in the league.

16. Baltimore Ravens- DJ Moore, Wide Receiver, Maryland: Moore is a fast riser on many peoples draft boards and the Ravens snag him to help Joe Flacco although there are rumors that they are in play for Dez Bryant. There are people that think Moore could end up being the best receiver in this draft class.

17. Los Angeles Chargers- Da'Ron Payne, Defensive Tackle, Alabama: The Chargers pose what is arguably the best edge rushing duo in the league with Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. Adding someone like Payne would only make that defensive line better.

18. Seattle Seahawks- Josh Jackson, Cornerback, Iowa: The Seahawks take Jackson here to help replace Richard Sherman in that secondary. He led the FBS in interceptions last season and has size and speed.

19. Dallas Cowboys- Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama: After pegging Courtland Sutton here a lot and having Ridley going to the Ravens, Ridley slides here to Dallas to replace Dez Bryant. Ridley brings a downfield, speedy option on the outside that would bring a different look to the Cowboys offense.

20. Detroit Lions- Marcus Davenport, Defensive End, UTSA: The Lions need some help with their pass rush to go along with Ziggy Ansah and that makes Davenport a nice selection here. He is athletic, moves very well, and has physicality, which Matt Patricia would like.

21. Cincinnati Bengals (via Buffalo Bills)- Frank Rangrow, Center, Arkansas: Rangrow is a player trending up on people's draft boards and after having James Daniels in this spot the last few mock drafts, I switched to Rangrow. The Bengals should prioritize improving their offensive line within the first few rounds of the draft and Rangrow wouldn't be a bad start.

22. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City Chiefs)- Harold Landry, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Boston College: Landry is all over the map in terms of where people have him mocked in these mock drafts. Landry didn't have a great final season in college, but has the tools to be a solid pro.

He was more of an edge defender early in his career, and he pressured the quarterback on 67 of his 284 career rushes. However, he also showed well in a more traditional role over the last two years.

26. Atlanta Falcons- Taven Bryan, Defensive End, Florida: The Falcons don't have any major needs, but bolstering the defensive line could be necessary if Dontari Poe leaves in free agency. Bryan has drawn comparisons to JJ Watt and will bring depth to the Falcons defensive line.

27. New Orleans Saints- Mike Gesicki, Tight End, Penn State: Gesicki is perhaps the best tight end in this draft class and would give Drew Brees yet another offensive weapon. Gesicki would be an upgrade at the position and would be the best tight end they've had since prime Jimmy Graham.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers- Leighton Vander-Esch, Linebacker, Boise State: The Steelers are doing backflips as Vander-Esch falls to them as they find someone to replace Ryan Shazier. He's a stellar athlete that could patrol sideline to sideline.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars- Isaiah Wynn, Guard/Offensive Tackle, Georgia: The Jaguars bolster their offensive line by selecting Wynn, who could be a possible steal. He can play tackle if needed but will succeed as a guard instantly and plays with outstanding leverage and has the athleticism to mirror pass-rushers.

30. Minnesota Vikings- Connor Williams, Guard/Offensive Tackle, Texas: With Wynn off the board, the Vikings take Williams to bolster their offensive line. He has versatility and the Vikings would probably play him at tackle, where Williams is better off.

2018 NFL Mock Draft: Eleventh Edition

Here is my eleventh edition of my 2018 NFL Draft.

1. Cleveland Browns- Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC: After having Allen at the top spot the last few mock drafts, I switched back to Darnold at the top as many are speculating that Darnold will be the top choice for the Browns.

Does he trade down? Take a quarterback to replace Eli Manning in the future? Take Barkley, Bradley Chubb, or Quenton Nelson? If you asked me to bet, I'd say trade down. But the Giants love Barkley and what should be an improved offensive line, he'll help the Giants tremendously.

3. New York Jets (from Indianapolis Colts)- Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA: Many people think Baker Mayfield will be selected here, but there is a lot of growing momentum for Rosen to be selected in this spot. Rosen would be a guy that can handle the New York spotlight and he is thought out by some to be the safest bet in this draft (in terms of quarterbacks) due to his accuracy and refined throwing mechanics.

5. Denver Broncos- Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming: John Elway has options here. Allen, Baker Mayfield, Quenton Nelson, a defensive player, or trade down. Allen has the most upside among the quarterbacks in this draft class due to his athleticism, arm strength, and size and draws comparisons to Carson Wentz.

6. Indianapolis Colts (from New York Jets)- Quenton Nelson, Guard, Notre Dame: The most important thing for the Colts going forward is keeping Andrew Luck healthy. A good start is a better offensive line and why not pick the best offensive lineman in this draft? Nelson seems like a sure thing and worthy of a top-ten pick and could go as high as fourth overall.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama: Fitzpatrick is being pegged to go between here and ten and after having Derwin James in this spot last time, I switched to Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick's versatility makes him special and he's perhaps the best defensive player in this draft.

8. Chicago Bears- Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State: The Bears have a secondary need so they pass on a linebacker and take Ward here. Ward isn't the biggest cornerback in the draft but he can cover skills that are hard to come by in the league.

9. San Francisco 49ers- Roquan Smith, Linebacker, Georgia: With Reuben Foster's future with the team suddenly in doubt after his arrest, the Niners almost have to take a linebacker here if either Smith or Edmunds is available. Smith brings speed and athleticism to the field and that's good for a young defense.

10. Oakland Raiders- Tremaine Edmunds, Linebacker, Virginia Tech: Edmunds's stock has risen recently and this would be a great pick for the Raiders, who need playmakers on defense. Edmunds will only be twenty years old once the season gets going and he will give the Raiders defense another look.

11. Miami Dolphins- Vita Vea, Denfensive Tackle, Washington: Vea, a massive presence in the middle of a defensive line, will go a long way toward fixing that deficiency, while also providing enough quickness to penetrate into the backfield on some third downs. He also has quick feet and good movement skill for a big defensive lineman.

12. Buffalo Bills (from Cincinnati Bengals)- Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma: The Bills are doing backflips as Mayfield falls to them here at twelve (although I believe a trade up is a distinct possibility). Mayfield has a ton of potential with his gunslinger mentality although due to his height and off the court antics, is compared to Johnny Manziel.

13. Washington Redskins- Derwin James, Strong Safety, Florida State: Many people have James linked to the Bucs right now. He's arguably the best defensive playmaker in the draft and James is the new NFL prototype as a safety capable of producing against the run or in both man and zone coverage.

14. Green Bay Packers- Josh Jackson, Cornerback, Iowa: There is not a lot of buzz about the Packers selecting a defensive back here and with James and Ward off the board, they take a bit of a reach with Jackson. He led the FBS in interceptions last season and has size and speed and would be a nice fit in the Packers secondary.

16. Baltimore Ravens- Mike McGlinchey, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame: After pegging Calvin Ridley here for a ton of my mock drafts, McGlinchey is the choice here as the Ravens look to improve their offensive line. He isn't that strong, but he's athletic and brings stability.

19. Dallas Cowboys- Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama: After pegging Courtland Sutton here a lot and having Ridley going to the Ravens, Ridley slides here to Dallas to replace Dez Bryant. Ridley brings a downfield, speedy option on the outside that would bring a different look to the Ravens offense.

20. Detroit Lions- Harold Landry, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Boston College: Landry is all over the map in terms of where people have him mocked in these mock drafts. Landry didn't have a great final season in college, but has the tools to be a solid pro.

21. Cincinnati Bengals (from Buffalo Bills)- James Daniels, Center, Iowa: Daniels is trending up many peoples mock boards and a ton of people have Daniels linked to Cincinnati. He's a good athlete and good technician for a center.

22. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City Chiefs)- Leighton Vander-Esch, Linebacker, Boise State: Vander Esch is rising up many peoples mocks drafts of late to the point that this may be considered a reach. He's a stellar athlete that could patrol sideline to sideline and would be a nice fit in Sean McDermott's defense.

27. New Orleans Saints- Hayden Hurst, Tight End, South Carolina: Hurst is a player trending upward heading into the draft. The Saints make sense for him because they have a need at a tight end and he would open up the field more for Michael Thomas in that offense.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers- Mike Hughes, Cornerback, UCF: Hughes is a player trending up many peoples mock boards and people have him pegged in the top 15, but I don't see him being drafted that high. Hughes would fit nicely with Artie Burns in the Steelers secondary.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars- DJ Moore, Wide Receiver, Maryland: Moore is a fast riser on many peoples draft boards and the Jags snag him to help replace Allen Robinson. There are people that think Moore could end up being the best receiver in this draft class.

31. New England Patriots- Jaire Alexander, Cornerback, Louisville: Alexander is a player trending peoples draft boards. He would be a nice fit in New England considering they have a need at the position after losing Malcolm Butler.

32. Philadelphia Eagles- Connor Williams, Guard/Offensive Tackle, Texas: The Eagles don't really have that any needs. Williams is one of the better offensive lineman in this draft and the Eagles offensive line is aging so this would be a solid pick.

2018 NFL Mock Draft: Tenth Edition

Here is my tenth edition of my 2018 NFL Draft.

1. Cleveland Browns- Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming: All signs point to the Browns picking Allen over Sam Darnold first overall now. Allen has the most upside among the quarterbacks in this draft class due to his athleticism, arm strength, and size and draws comparisons to Carson Wentz.

2. New York Giants- Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State: What Dave Gettleman will do with the second overall pick is the biggest question of this entire draft.

3. New York Jets (from Indianapolis Colts)- Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC: It would be very Jets of them to pass on Darnold to take Baker Mayfield, but lets say they are actually smart and pick Darnold here. Gang Green will be doing backflips as the Jets take they guy who might be the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck. Darnold has the highest floor of all the quarterbacks in this draft and he has the athleticism, the leadership, good throwing arm, and clutch play as he's shown at the collegiate level.

5. Denver Broncos- Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma: The Broncos are doing cartwheels as Mayfield falls to them here at five. Mayfield has a ton of potential with his gunslinger mentality although due to his height and off the court antics, is compared to Johnny Manziel.

8. Chicago Bears- Tremaine Edmunds, Linebacker, Virginia Tech: Edmunds's stock has risen recently and this would be a solid pick for the Bears, who need playmakers on defense. Edmunds will only be twenty years old once the season gets going and he will give the Bears defense another look.

9. San Francisco 49ers- Roquan Smith, Linebacker, Georgia: With Reuben Foster's future with the
team suddenly in doubt after his arrest, the Niners almost have to take a linebacker here if either Smith or Edmunds is available. Smith brings speed and athleticism to the field and that's good for a young defense.

10. Oakland Raiders- Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama: This would be a steal here for the Raiders, who have a bigger need for a linebacker, so instead take Fitzpatrick to bolster their secondary. Fitzpatrick's versatility makes him special and he's perhaps the best defensive player in this draft.

12. Buffalo Bills (from Cincinnati Browns)- Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA: The Bills would be doing backflips if Rosen fell to them at 12, but it's more likely for them to move up again. His stock is dropping due to his concussion issues and his former coach Jim Mora throwing him under the bus. Rosen is thought out by some to be the safest bet in this draft (in terms of quarterbacks) due to his accuracy and refined throwing mechanics.

13. Washington Redskins- Leighton Vander-Esch, Linebacker, Boise State: Vander Esch is rising up many peoples mocks drafts of late to the point that this may be considered a reach. He's a stellar athlete that could patrol sideline to sideline and would be a nice fit next to Zach Brown to give the Redskins a pair of three-down, off ball linebackers.

14. Green Bay Packers- Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State: Ward dropping this far would be a massive steal for the Packers and it would be a no brainer for them to pick him here. Ward isn't the biggest cornerback in the draft but he can cover skills that are hard to come by in the league.

16. Baltimore Ravens- Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama: The Ravens have lacked a big-threat receiver for years now and they get one here with Ridley, although they did sign John Brown and Michael Crabtree. Ridley brings a downfield, speedy option on the outside that would bring a different look to the Ravens offense.

19. Dallas Cowboys- Courtland Sutton, Wide Receiver, SMU: With the Cowboys releasing Dez Bryant, they replace him with Sutton, who could be a possible steal. Sutton put together back-to-back seasons of 1,000 yards and 10 TDs, and he scored 32 times in all in his three seasons with the Mustangs.

22. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City Chiefs)- Mike McGlinchey, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame: After the trading of Cody Glenn, the Bills have a need on the offensive line. McGlinchey isn't that strong, but he's athletic and brings stability.

27. New Orleans Saints- Dallas Goedert, Tight End, South Dakota State: Goedert's draft stock is trending up although there are some concerns due to injury. Goedert would be a nice weapon for Drew Brees.

31. New England Patriots- Josh Jackson, Cornerback, Iowa: Jackson's stock is dropping and the Pats could land a steal here with a guy that led the FBS in interceptions last year. Jackson has size and speed and would be a nice fit in the Pats secondary with Malcolm Butler gone.

2015 NBA Re-Draft

Here I'm going to re-draft the First Round of the 2015 NBA Draft. How many picks will be the same? How many picks will be different?

1. Minnesota Timberwolves- Karl Anthony Towns, Center, Kentucky: No due-over here as the Timberwolves take their guy in Towns. He is always putting up double-doubles and still has room to grow as a player as he needs to fully develop on the defensive end.
Actual Pick: Towns

2. Los Angeles Lakers- Kristaps Porzingis, Power Forward/Center, Latvia: The Knicks got a steal with Porzingis with the fourth overall pick. He is rehabbing a torn ACL right now and you can make a case he has the highest ceiling among the players from this draft. He can score, shoot it from 3, and protect the rim, but still needs to develop a post game, rebound better, and a passing game. Imagine him playing alongside Julius Randle in Los Angeles in that frontcourt?
Actual Pick: D'Angelo Russell, Point Guard, Ohio State

3. Philadelphia 76ers- Devin Booker, Shooting Guard, Kentucky: The Suns got a steal with Booker with the thirteenth pick. He is going to be a great scorer in this league someday and imagine him with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid? If that was the case, his defensive deficiencies would be hidden.
Actual PickJahlil Okafor, Center, Duke

4. New York Knicks- Myles Tuner, Power Forward/Center, Texas: With Porzingis off the board, the Knicks take Turner. He's a key part of the Pacers future along with Victor Oladipo and would have been apart of the Knicks long term future as well since he can do a lot of the same things as KP.
Actual Pick: Kristaps Porzingis, Power Forward/Center, Latvia

5. Orlando Magic- Terry Rozier, Point Guard, Louisville: The Celtics got a steal in the middle of the first round with Rozier. He's improved his game a lot this season with getting more playing time with Kyrie Irving injured. He'd be the full time starting point guard on the Magic.
Actual Pick: Mario Hezonja, Shooting Guard/Small Forward, Croatia

 6. Sacramento Kings- Kelly Oubre, Shooting Guard/Small Forward, Kansas: The Wiz got a steal with Oubre, who's been a fine player for them coming off the bench. He'd certainly would start on
this Kings team on the wing.
Actual Pick: Willie Cauley-Stein, Center, Kentucky

7. Denver Nuggets- Justice Winslow, Small Forward/Power Forward, Duke: The Nuggets take Winslow here to be their small forward of the future. He's finally playing up to his capability throughout the end of the regular season and playoffs for the Heat. A core of Winslow, Jamal Murray, and Nikola Jokic would be fun.
Actual PickEmmanuel Muiday, Point Guard, China

8. Detroit Pistons- Josh Richardson, Shooting Guard, Tennessee: Richardson proved to be a massive steal at where the Heat selected him in the second round. He should be apart of the Heats future and
he would have been a key piece for the Pistons to go with Andre Drummond.
Actual Pick: Stanley Johnson, Small Forward, Arizona

9. Charlotte Hornets- Willie Cauley-Stein, Center, Kentucky: The Hornets take Cauley-Stein as he drops a few spots in the re-draft. He's shown improvement this past season to the point where the Kings should view him as a long-term piece and he would be that for the Hornets as well.
Actual Pick: Frank Kaminskiy, Center, Wisconsin

10. Miami Heat- Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Small Forward/Power Forward, Arizona: The Nets took a steal late in the first round with Hollis-Jefferson. He's probably a long term piece for the Nets and probably would be a piece for the Heat too with his versatility.
Actual Pick: Justice Winslow, Small Forward/Power Forward, Duke

11. Indiana Pacers- D'Angelo Russell, Point Guard, Ohio State: With Turner off the board, the Pacers take Russell, who drops in this re-draft. Maybe this would have been a better situation for Russell as the Pacers take him to possibly be their future point guard instead of being in the bright lights in Los Angeles or in Brooklyn.
Actual Pick: Myles Tuner, Power Forward/Center, Texas

12. Utah Jazz- Mario Hezonja, Shooting Guard/Small Forward, Croatia: The Jazz take Hezonja here to bank on his upside and potential. He finally showed that late this past season so it's interesting to see what the Magic do with him.
Actual Pick: Trey Lyles, Power Forward, Kentucky

13. Phoenix Suns- Bobby Portis, Power Forward, Arkansas: The Bulls may have found a possible
steal with Portis at where they picked him later on in the first round. He thrived at the end of the season and the Bulls may use him as trade bait this summer with Lauri Markkanen being their power forward of the future.
Actual Pick: Devin Booker, Shooting Guard, Kentucky

14. Oklahoma City Thunder- Stanley Johnson, Small Forward, Arizona: The Thunder take Johnson here to back on his potential as he drops in the re-draft. He showed some flashes toward the end of the season for the Pistons as he started for them down the stretch.
Actual Pick: Cameron Payne, Point Guard, Murray State

15. Washington Wizards (from Brooklyn Nets via Atlanta Hawks)- Larry Nance Jr, Power Forward, Wyoming: The Lakers got themselves a steal late in the first round with Nance. The Lakers used him as trade bait this past season shipping him to the Cavs with Jordan Clarkson to clear cap room to sign max free agents this upcoming summer although he hasn't lived up to expectations in Cleveland.
Actual PickKelly Oubre, Shooting Guard/Small Forward, Kansas

16. Boston Cetlics- Frank Kaminskiy, Center, Wisconsin: The Celtics take Kaminsky here to improve their front court. The question is does he start alongside Al Horford or does he come off the bench? He's been a nice player for the Hornets the last few seasons and is capable of getting better.
Actual Pick: Terry Rozier, Point Guard, Louisville

17. Milwaukee Bucks- Montrezl Harrell, Power Forward/Center, Louisville: Harrell proven to be a steal at where the Rockets selected him in the second round and then they shipped him to LA in the
package for Chris Paul. He's a fun player to watch as he always provides energy off the bench and he did a solid job starting while DeAndre Jordan was hurt.
Actual Pick: Rashad Vaughn, Shooting Guard, UNLV

18. Houston Rockets (from New Orleans Pelicans)- Sam Dekker, Small Forward, Wisconsin: No due
over here as the Rockets Dekker. He was also packaged to the Clippers in the package they got in return for Chris Paul. He's a good three point shooter and brings a lot of energy off the bench.
Actual Pick: Dekker

19. New York Knicks (from Washington Wizards via Atlanta Hawks)- Cedi Osman, Shooting Guard/Small Forward, Germany: Osman might end up being a steal at where he was selected in this draft. He's been in and out of the starting lineup for the Cavs and should be getting a lot of playing time during the Cavs playoff run.
Actual Pick: Jerian Grant, Point Guard, Notre Dame

20. Toronto Raptors- Norman Powell, Shooting Guard, UCLA: The Raps got a steal at where Powell was selected in the second round. He's been a big part of their bench the last few years and I'm interested to see if he sticks around with the Raps long term.
Actual Pick: Delon Wright, Point Guard, Utah

21. Dallas Mavericks- Tyus Jones, Point Guard, Duke: Jones has been a fine backup point guard for the Timberwolves this season. He's actually started in place of Jeff Teague while he has injured and did a nice job. He would have been a starter perhaps on the Mavs if they didn't have Dennis Smith Jr.
Actual Pick: Justin Anderson, Small Forward, Virginia

22. Chicago Bulls- TJ McConnell, Point Guard, Arizona: It's crazy that McConnell went undrafted. He's been such a good player for the Sixers the last few seasons and is a guy that can swing a game off the bench and he could have been that for the Bulls too.
Actual Pick: Bobby Portis, Power Forward, Arkansas

23. Brooklyn Nets (from Portland Trail Blazers)- Quinn Cook, Point Guard, Duke: Cook probably
should have been drafted too as he's done such a great job stepping in for the injured Steph Curry. He can certainly start on a team like the Nets if they did not already have D'Angelo Russell.
Actual Pick: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Small Forward/Power Forward, Arizona

24. Minnesota Timberwolves (from Cleveland Cavaliers)- Emmanuel Mudiay, Point Guard, China: With Jones off the board, the Timberwolves take a shot with Mudiay who falls in the re-draft. He never really panned out as the Nuggets hoped as they traded him away to the Knicks last February and he didn't do much for them either.
Actual Pick: Tyus Jones, Point Guard, Duke

25. Memphis Grizzlies- Jhalil Okafor, Center, Duke: The Grizzlies take a flier here with Okafor in the re-draft. Many people thought that Okafor was going to be a franchise changer and he's been the complete opposite. The Sixers dealt him away to the Nets last year and he barely even played on the Nets after he was traded.
Actual Pick: Jarell Martin, Power Forward, LSU

26. San Antonio Spurs- Willy Hernangomez, Center, Spain: Hernangomez showed some promise with the Knicks last season and then was their third string center since he was beat out by Enes Kanter and Kyle O'Quinn this past season which led to a trade to Charlotte. Hernangomez would have been a great Spur.
Actual PickNikola Milutinov, Center, Serbia

27. Los Angeles Lakers- Dakari Johnson, Center, Kentucky: Johnson has showed some promise this season as he started a few games for the Thunder when Steven Adams missed some time. Johnson should be getting some minutes in the playoffs for OKC and he would have been a nice backup center for the Lakers too.
Actual Pick: Larry Nance Jr, Power Forward, Wyoming

28. Boston Celtics (from Los Angeles Clippers)- Delon Wright, Point Guard, Utah: Wright has been a solid backup for the Raps this season and is an underrated player on that second unit. He'd fit on this Celtics team as their backup point guard since Rozier is off the board.
Actual Pick: RJ Hunter, Shooting Guard, Georgia State

29. Brooklyn Nets (from Atlanta Hawks)- Cameron Payne, Point Guard, Murray State: The Nets take a chance on another young point guard in Payne here as he drops in the re-draft. He had some good moments as Russell Westbrook's backup on the Thunder and was traded last year to the Bulls in the Taj Gibson trade. He has been injured often throughout his young career.
Actual Pick: Chris McCullough, Power Forward, Syracuse

30. Golden State Warriors- Jarell Martin, Power Forward, LSU: Martin has been improving as a player since he's been drafted. He may have played himself into the Grizzlies long term plans mans and he could have been a nice big off the bench for the Dubs.
Actual Pick: Kevin Looney, Power Forward, UCLA
