Here are my predictions for the First Round of the 2018 WNBA Playoffs which will take place tonight and are single elimination games.
8/21- (8) Dallas Wings (15-19) at (5) Phoenix Mercury (20-14)- 8:30, ESPN2: This should be a fun playoff game with a lot of talent on the court. The Wings have ladies such as Skylar Diggins-Smith and Liz Cambage who are very good players. The Mercury have star power with Diana Turasi and Brittney Griner and they are the best two players in this matchup. Don't forget about their third All-Star in DeWanna Bonner. Advantage: Mercury. Don't forget that the Wings were just dealing with turmoil with the firing of head coach Fred Williams due to a screaming match with the teams owner.
Prediction: Mercury
8/21- (7) Minnesota Lynx (19-15) at (6) Los Angeles Sparks (18-16)- 10:30, ESPN2: It's amazing that what many people thought would be a WNBA Finals rematch before the season is now a First Round single elimination game. Star power rules this game with Maya Moore, Sylvia Fowles, Seimone Augustus of the Lynx and Candice Parker, Nneka Ogwumkie, and Chelsea Gray of the Sparks. Such a hard call and you can make a case that the winner of this game could end up in the WNBA Finals. Give me the Sparks on their home court in a super close game.
