Here are my predictions for the First Round of the 2016 WNBA Playoffs, which are single-elimination games now in this new playoff format.
Wednesday, September 21st
(8) Phoenix Mercury vs (5) Indiana Fever; 6:00, ESPNEWS: This should be a fun game between two solid teams with star power galore with Phoenix's Diana Turasi and Brittney Griner and Indiana's Tamika Catchings, who is retiring after this season. I don't believe this will be it for Catchings as I'm picking the Fever to move on to the Second Round to play the Chicago Sky in yet another single-elimination game over an underachieving Phoenix team.
Prediction: Fever
(7) Seattle Storm vs (6) Atlanta Dream; 8:00, ESPNEWS: Here's another interesting game with star power featured with Seattle's Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart and Atlanta's Angel McCourty. The Storm are an up and coming team and that will show in a road upset as they'll move on to play the New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden in a single-elimination second round game.
