2018 MLB Playoffs: Championship Round Predictions

Here are my predictions for the 2018 League Championship Round of the 2018 MLB Playoffs.

American League Championship Series
(2) Houston Astros vs (1) Boston Red Sox: The best two teams in the AL face off in what should be an interesting series. The Astros are coming off an impressive three game sweep over the Cleveland Indians. The Red Sox are coming off an impressive four game series win over the New York Yankees. Both teams can flat out score and the Astros have the likes of Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, George Springer, and Alex Bregman and the Sox have Mookie Betts, JD Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, and Andrew Benintendi. The Astros have a rotation advantage with Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, Charlie Morton, and Dallas Keuchel. The Sox rotation has ace Chris Sale to go with David Price (who was awful against the Yankees), Nathan Eovaldi, and Rick Porcello. The Astros pen is really good with Roberto Osuna, Josh James, Chris Devinski, and Lance McCullers Jr coming over from the rotation. The Sox pen is not very good outside of closer Craig Kimbrel (who struggled against the Yanks) although the bridge to Kimbrel was surprising good with guys like Joe Kelly, Ryan Brasier, and Matt Barnes. I absolutely love the Astros to win this series and I expect the Sox bridge to Kimbrel to regress because the Astros, unlike the Yankees hit good with men on base as well as the rotation outside of Sale.
Prediction: Astros in five games.

National League Championship Series
(2) Los Angeles Dodgers vs (1) Milwaukee Brewers: This should be a fun series between these two teams. The Dodgers offense is great led by Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy, and Manny Machado. The a Brewers offense is very good led by Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Jesus Aguliar, and Mike Moustakas. The Dodgers rotation is arguably just as good as Houston's led by Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, Hy-Jun Riu, and Rich Hill. The Brewers rotation is the worst of the final four with the likes of Gio Gonzalez, Wade Miley, and Jhoulys Chacin and could potentially go with an opener in this series at some point. The Dodgers bullpen has improved with Kenley Jansen pitching better and guys like Pedro Baez stepping up and the presence of Kenta Maeda. The Brewers pen is the best among the final four led by Josh Hader, Jeremy Jeffress, Joakim Soria, and Corey Knebel. I do think the Brew Crew have a chance here with home field advantage, but the Dodgers are the better team top to bottom as they'll set up a rematch with the Astros.
Prediction: Dodgers in six games.
