2016 College Football Week 9: Picks

Here are my picks for week nine of the 2016 College Football season.

Thursday, October 27th
(25) Virginia Tech (5-2; 3-1) at Pittsburgh (5-2; 2-1)- 7:00, ESPN: This should be a fun ACC Coastal matchup that could go a long way in determining who will go to the ACC title game. Give me James Conner and the Panthers to pull it out at home.
Pick: Pittsburgh

Akron (5-3; 3-1) at Buffalo (1-6; 0-3)- 7:30, ESPN3
Pick: Akron

Ohio (5-3; 3-1) at Toledo (6-1; 3-0)- 7:30, CBSSN
Pick: Toledo

Appalachian State (5-2; 3-0) at Georgia Southern (4-3; 3-1)- 7:30, ESPNU: This game could very well decide the Sun Belt winner. Give me the Eagles at home.
Pick: Georgia Southern

California (4-3; 2-2) at USC (4-3; 3-2)- 10:30, ESPN: Here's a fun Pac-12 after dark game for you. There will be a ton of points, but give me Sam Darnold and the Trojans here at home.
Pick: USC

Friday, October 28th
(22) Navy (5-1; 4-0) at South Florida (6-2; 3-1)- 7:00, ESPN2: This is one of the more of the underrated games of the weekend in what could be an AAC title game preview. Give me the Bulls at home in a close one.
Pick: South Florida

San Diego State (6-1; 3-0) at Utah State (3-4; 1-3)- 8:00, CBSSN
Pick: San Diego State

Air Force (4-3; 1-3) at Fresno State (1-7; 0-4)- 10:30, ESPN2
Pick: Air Force

Pick: Central Michigan

UCF (4-3; 2-1) at Houston (6-2; 3-2)- 12:00, ESPNU: The Knights have been decent this season, so the Cougars better be ready. This will be a closer game than the experts think.

Pick: East Carolina

(10) West Virginia (6-0; 3-0) at Oklahoma State (5-2; 3-1)- 12:00, FOX: This was the toughest game of the week to pick. The Mountaineers are just rolling offensively and defensively and I believe they'll slow down Mason Rudolph and the Cowboys in Stillwater.

Pick: Minnesota

(2) Michigan (7-0; 4-0) at Michigan State (2-5; 0-4)- 12:00, ESPN: This is a rematch of the famous game ending muffed punt return for touchdown. Well, the Wolverines should and will get big time revenge in East Lansing and it certainly helps that Sparty is having a down season.
Pick: Michigan

(24) Penn State (5-2; 3-1) at Purdue (3-4; 1-3)- 12:00, ABC/ESPN2: This game screams let down for the Nittany Lions. I'm tempted to pick the upset here, but I won't. This game will be closer than the experts think.

Pick: North Carolina State

Cincinnati (4-3; 1-3) at Temple (5-3; 3-1)- 3:30, CBSSN: This is a sneaky good AAC East game. The Bearcats are somewhat down this season and the Owls have a lot of momentum going their way right now. Give me the Owls at home.
Pick: Temple

Western Kentucky (5-3; 3-1) at Florida Atlantic (1-6; 0-3)- 3:30
Pick: Western Kentucky

(14) Florida (5-1; 3-1) vs Georgia (4-3; 2-2)- 3:30, CBS: This game will be played in Jacksonville. I'm going to roll with the Gators and their terrific defense and it helps that they have a home field advantage here.
Pick: Florida

(8) Baylor (6-0; 3-0) at Texas (3-4; 1-3)- 3:30, ABC: This should be a very interesting game. Something tells me that the Longhorn players will get up for this one at home and they'll pull off the upset.
Pick: Texas

Pick: Wake Forest

Miami (FL) (4-3; 1-3) at Notre Dame (2-5)- 3:30, NBC: Both teams are desperate for a win, but I like Brad Kaaya and the Canes to pull it out in South Bend.
Pick: Miami (FL)

Pick: Mississippi State

Pick: Indiana

Texas Tech (3-4; 1-3) at TCU (4-3; 2-2)- 3:30, ESPN2: This should be an interesting one in the Big-12. Give me Kenny Hill and the Horn Frogs to bounce back from their awful loss in Monrgantown and win at home.
Pick: TCU

Northwestern (4-3; 3-1) at (6) Ohio State (6-1; 3-1)- 3:30, ESPN: The Wildcats turned their season around after a rough start, but give me JT Barrett and the Buckeyes to bounce back from their loss in State College and win at home.
Pick: Ohio State

SMU (3-4; 1-2) at Tulane (3-4; 0-3)- 4:00, ESPNEWS: This screams letdown for the Mustangs after their upset of Houston. Give me the Green Wave at home.
Pick: Tulane

Pick: South Alabama

Arizona State (5-3; 2-3) at Oregon (2-5; 0-4)- 5:00, Pac-12N: The Ducks are just a mess defensively, but so are the Sun Devils. I'm going to go with the Ducks to snap their long losing skid at home.

Middle Tennessee (5-2; 2-1) at FIU (3-5; 3-1)- 7:00, ESPN3
Pick: FIU

Louisiana-Monroe (2-4; 1-2) at Arkansas State (2-4; 2-0)- 7:00, ESPN3
Pick: Arkansas State

Kansas (1-6; 0-4) at (16) Oklahoma (5-2; 4-0)- 7:00, FS1
Pick: Oklahoma

(7) Nebraska (7-0; 4-0) at (11) Wisconsin (5-2; 2-2)- 7:00, ESPN: This is a huge game in the Big-10 West and what could likely decide who goes to the Big-10 Championship game. Give me the Huskies at home in a close one.
Pick: Wisconsin

(15) Auburn (5-2; 3-1) at Ole Miss (3-4; 1-3)- 7:15, SECN: This should be a very interesting game. The Rebels are better than their record indicates, but I really love the Tigers in this game led by their defense.
Pick: Auburn

(18) Tennessee (5-2; 2-2) at South Carolina (3-4; 1-4)- 7:15, ESPN2: This should be an interesting one as well. The Vols had their bye a week ago and they'll be ready to go here and they'll get a win in Columbia.

Pick: Memphis

(3) Clemson (7-0; 4-0) at (12) Florida State (5-2; 2-2)- 8:00, ABC: This should be a fun one in Tallahassee although it isn't as big as we thought it would be back in the beginning of the year. The Tigers have been in close games and had some close calls all season, but give me the Noles to pull off the upset here at home.
Pick: Florida State
