2014 NFL Week 8 Picks

Here are my picks for week eight of the 2014 NFL season.

Thursday, October 23rd
(5-2) San Diego Chargers vs (5-1) Denver Broncos- Now here's a great division matchup! San Diego is coming off a home loss against Kansas City. Denver is coming off a resounding home win over San Francisco. Denver quarterback Peyton Manning broke the all-time passing touchdown record on Sunday night. Expect a shootout, but the home team coming out on top. Prediction: Denver 34, San Diego 28.

Sunday, October 26th
(5-2) Detroit Lions vs (2-5) Atlanta Falcons- This game is being played in London. Detroit is coming off a huge home win against New Orleans. Atlanta is coming off a road loss against Baltimore. Detroit is one of the leagues more underrated teams right now while Atlanta is one of the leagues overrated teams right now. Give me Detroit to win in London. Prediction: Detroit 27, Atlanta 20.

(2-4) St. Louis Rams vs (3-3) Kansas City Chiefs- This is one of the more underrated games of the early-afternoon. St. Louis is coming off a nice home win against the defending champs, in which special teams was the difference. Kansas City is coming off a huge road win against San Diego. Expect this game to be close, but for Kansas City to pull it out. Prediction: Kansas City 28, St. Louis 24.

(3-4) Houston Texans vs (2-5) Tennessee Titans- Houston is coming off a road loss against Pittsburgh on Monday night. Tennessee is coming off a road loss against Washington, in which they lost on a game winning field goal. Tennessee is starting rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger in this game. Expect Houston defensive JJ Waat to have a big game, en route to a Houston win. Prediction: Houston 20, Tennessee 16.

(2-5) Minnesota Vikings vs (1-5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Minnesota is coming off a road loss against Buffalo, in which Buffalo won on a game winning touchdown. Tampa Bay is coming off their bye, in which two weeks ago, were blown out at home against Baltimore. I just feel that Minnesota is the better team here considering both teams are inconsistent on both sides of the ball. Prediction: Minnesota 26, Tampa Bay 20.

(3-3) Seattle Seahawks vs (3-3-1) Carolina Panthers- This should be an interesting game to say the least. Seattle is coming off a road loss against St. Louis. Carolina is coming off a road loss against Green Bay. Despite reported turmoil going on with Seattle, expect them to win a close game. Prediction: Seattle 27, Carolina 23.

(5-2) Baltimore Ravens vs (3-2-1) Cincinnati Bengals- This should be a great division game. Baltimore is coming off a home win against Atlanta. Cincinnati is coming off a bad loss, in which they were shutout against Indianapolis. Baltimore is the hotter team right now and that's why they'll prevail again. Prediction: Baltimore 31, Cincinnati 26.

(3-3) Miami Dolphins vs (1-6) Jacksonville Jaguars- This game has the makings to be entertaining. Miami is coming off a big road win against Chicago. Jacksonville is coming off their first win of the season against Cleveland. I really like how both teams played last week, but that said, I like Jacksonville here at home. Prediction: Jacksonville 27, Miami 24.

(3-4) Chicago Bears vs (5-2) New England Patriots- On paper, this is a great game. Chicago is coming off a disappointing home loss against Miami. New England is coming off a home win against the Jets, in which they almost lost. I think Chicago is an overrated team right now and New England is the better team right now. Prediction: New England 36, Chicago 23.

(4-3) Buffalo Bills vs (1-6) New York Jets- This could be a fun or boring game either way. Buffalo is coming off a nice home win against Minnesota. The Jets are coming off a road loss against New England, in which they did everything they could to win that game. Buffalo is dealing with injuries to the running game, so I like the Jets to get their second win of the season. Prediction: NY Jets 24, Buffalo 16.

(5-1) Philadelphia Eagles vs (5-1) Arizona Cardinals- What a game this is! It can potentially decide home field advantage in the NFC playoff picture. Philadelphia is coming off their bye, in which two weeks ago had their most impressive win of the season by shutting out the Giants. Arizona is coming off a home win against Washington. This should be a great game, but I think Arizona wins this one. Prediction: Arizona 30, Philadelphia 26.

(0-6) Oakland Raiders vs (3-3) Cleveland Browns- This game might not look good on paper, but it should be a good one. Oakland is coming off a home loss against Arizona, in which they didn't play terrible. Cleveland is coming off a disappointing road loss against Jacksonville. That said, I like Cleveland here at home. Prediction: Cleveland 30, Oakland 21.

(5-2) Indianapolis Colts vs (4-3) Pittsburgh Steelers- This is a great game. Indianapolis is coming off a big home win against Cincinnati. Pittsburgh is coming off a nice home win against Houston. Indianapolis is playing great football right now, but for some reason I think home field advantage will factor into a Pittsburgh victory. Prediction: Pittsburgh 27, Indianapolis 24.

(5-2) Green Bay Packers vs (2-4) New Orleans Saints- This has all the makings of a shootout. Green Bay is coming off an impressive home win against Carolina. New Orleans is coming off a road loss in which they should have won against Detroit. Many people like a hot Green Bay team here, but I just don't see New Orleans losing at home in a must win situation. Prediction: New Orleans 37, Green Bay 33.

(2-5) Washington Redskins vs (6-1) Dallas Cowboys- NFC East match ups are always fun, no matter what the records are. Washington is coming off a home win against Tennessee, in which they won on a field goal. Dallas is coming off an impressive home win against the Giants. Washington is starting Colt McCoy at quarterback over the struggling Kirk Cousins. On the other hand, no one thought Dallas would be 6-1 right now and amazingly enough, Dallas, arguably the best team in the league, is my lock of the week. Prediction: Dallas 30, Washington 17.
