2015 NFL Week 2 Picks

Here are my picks for week two of the 2015 NFL season.

Thursday, September 17th
Denver Broncos (1-0) vs Kansas City Chiefs (1-0)- 8:25, CBS/NFLN: This should be a fun matchup as two division rivals kick off week two. Peyton Manning and Denver's offense struggled in week one against the Ravens, who have a good defense. Kansas City is coming off a nice win in Houston against the Texans in which the offense looked fine and the defense looked pretty good as well. Expect both teams running games to be great with CJ Anderson and Jamaal Charles, respectively. Manning is 6-0 against the Chiefs as a Bronco, but I think that changes this week as Andy Reid gets his first win against Denver as Chiefs head coach.
Prediction: Kansas City 27, Denver 21.

Sunday, September 20th
New England Patriots (1-0) vs Buffalo Bills (1-0)- 1:00, CBS: This should be a fun matchup as Rex Ryan's new club takes on their division rivals in the Pats. Tom Brady and the Patriots played well in their opener against the Steelers and the Bills and new quarterback Tyrod Taylor played great against Andrew Luck and the Colts. Ryan will have the Bills motivated and ready and that crowd will be rocking, but something tells me that Brady and the Patriots will win this game in dramatic fashion.
Prediction: New England 24, Buffalo 23.

Houston Texans (0-1) vs Carolina Panthers (1-0)- 1:00, CBS: Houston struggled in their opener against Kansas City and Brian Hoyer got benched during the game in favor of Ryan Mallet, who got the Texans back in the game only to come up short. Carolina found a way to win their opener against Jacksonville, despite not playing their best. This is a tough game to pick, but I like Cam Newton and the Panthers to find a way in their home opener.
Prediction: Carolina 26, Houston 21.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) vs New Orleans Saints (0-1)- 1:00, FOX: Tampa Bay was probably the worst team of week one as they were blown out at home against Marcus Mariota and the Titans. New Orleans didn't play well in their loss against Arizona, either. I expect both Jameis Winston and Drew Brees to play better, but I believe Brees will shred a bad Bucs defense the Saints will win their home opener after losing five (!!) games at home last season.
Prediction: New Orleans 37, Tampa Bay 20.

San Diego Chargers (1-0) vs Cincinnati Bengals (1-0)- 1:00, CBS: This is perhaps the best game of the 1:00 slate as two AFC contenders face off. San Diego is coming off a great comeback win over the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati is coming off a blowout win in Oakland against the Raiders. I expect both quarterbacks to play well as well as their talented weapons such as Keenan Allen and AJ Green, respectively. I like Cincinnati here at home and their defense to make the stops late in the game to seal the win.
Prediction: Cincinnati 27, San Diego 23.

Tennessee Titans (1-0) vs Cleveland Browns (0-1)- 1:00, CBS: Tennessee is coming off a great win in Tampa against the Bucs and Cleveland is coming off a bad loss at MetLife against the Jets. Cleveland also lost Josh McCown during the game to a concussion as Johnny Flop Football replaced him. Neither of these teams were projected to be great, but not knowing McCown's status for Sunday yet, I'm going to pick the Titans here, but I don't feel good about it.
Prediction: Tennessee 27, Cleveland 19.

Detroit Lions (0-1) vs Minnesota Vikings (0-1)- 1:00, FOX: Detroit is coming off a loss against San Diego in a game which they had a 21-3 lead in. Minnesota is coming off a disastrous loss in San Francisco against the 49ers. I expect Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson to bounce back at home against a Lions team had looked horrible in the second half against the Chargers.
Prediction: Minnesota 26, Detroit 24.

Atlanta Falcons (1-0) vs New York Giants (0-1)- 1:00, FOX: Atlanta is coming off a nice home win against an Eagles team that got a lot of hype entering the season. The Giants are coming off a heartbreaking loss in Dallas against the Cowboys in which Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning made a crucial mistake late in the game, which is well documented at this point. The Giants defense (other than the final two Dallas drives) played better than pretty much anyone could have expected without Jason Pierre-Paul, but that can't really be said for the Falcons in the second half in which the Eagles took the lead after the Falcons led 20-3 at the half. I like the Giants to put what happened at the end of the Dallas game behind them and to win their home opener.
Prediction: NY Giants 30, Atlanta 23.

San Francisco 49ers (1-0) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1)- 1:00, FOX: San Francisco is coming off a very nice home win over Minnesota to open the season after all the turmoil they had in the offseason. Pittsburgh is coming off a tough loss in New England on opening night against the defending champs. This game might end up being a good one, but I like Pittsburgh to win here at home and I'm not sure if the Niners are as good as they looked on Monday night.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 30, San Francisco 20.

St. Louis Rams (1-0) vs Washington Redskins (0-1)- 1:00, FOX: St. Louis is coming off a great overtime win against the defending NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. Washington is coming off a loss against the Dolphins in which they led 10-0 late in the second quarter in. I like the Rams and that great defensive line to play great against a bad Washington offensive line and to start the year 2-0.
Prediction: St. Louis 27, Washington 16.

Arizona Cardinals (1-0) vs Chicago Bears (0-1)- 1:00, FOX: Arizona is coming off a terrific win against New Orleans at home in which Carson Palmer played great as well as the defense. Chicago is coming off a home loss to the Packers, in which they weren't terrible in. I expect the Bears to be competitive again in this game, but I like Arizona to continue their success and win this one on the road.
Prediction: Arizona 30, Chicago 23.

Miami Dolphins (1-0) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0)- 4:05, CBS: Miami is coming off a season opening win in Washington against the Redskins in which they trailed 10-0 late in the second quarter. Jacksonville is coming off a home loss to Carolina to open their season. I don't think Miami played particularly great against Washington, but I expect them to play better and win here against the Jags.
Prediction: Miami 27, Jacksonville 19.

Baltimore Ravens (1-0) vs Oakland Raiders (0-1)- 4:05, CBS: Baltimore is coming off a heartbreaking loss in Denver against the Broncos in which A) they didn't score an offensive touchdown and B) Joe Flacco threw an interception in the en-zone to end the game. Oakland is coming off a dreadful loss against the Bengals in which Derek Carr left the game with a hand injury. I like the Ravens and their offense to bounce back against a bad Oakland defense and win. With Carr's status uncertain, Baltimore is my lock of the week.
Prediction: Baltimore 36, Oakland 17.

Dallas Cowboys (1-0) vs Philadelphia Eagles (0-1)- 4:25, FOX: Dallas is coming off a great come from behind win against the Giants at home. The Eagles are coming off a bad loss in Atlanta against the Falcons in which Chip Kelly made a few bad decisions late in the game. Dez Bryant is out for a while with a broken foot and that's a big loss for Dallas. DeMarco Murray was horrible in his Eagle debut, but I expect him to bounce back against his former team and the 'Boys will regret letting him go.
Prediction: Philadelphia 34, Dallas 30.

Seattle Seahawks (0-1) vs Green Bay Packers (1-0)- 8:30, NBC: Seattle is coming off a heartbreaking loss against the Rams in which they clearly missed Kam Chancellor, who is holding out for a new contract. Green Bay is coming off a win in Chicago against the Bears in which they trailed at halftime. Is is possible that Seattle goes 0-2? Well, I think they will as I think Green Bay is poised for revenge against the team they lost the NFC Championship game and the "Fail Mary" game to from a few years back.
Prediction: Green Bay 34, Seattle 27.

Monday, September 21st
New York Jets (1-0) vs Indianapolis Colts (0-1)- 8:15, ESPN: The Jets are coming off a nice win against home against the Cleveland Browns. The Colts on the other hand, are coming off a bad loss against Rex Ryan's Buffalo Bills. Now the Colts take on Ryan's former team and I believe they'll bounce back at home and win. I considered choosing the Colts as my lock, but the Jets, like the Bills, have a good defense and the Colts have a poor offensive line.
Prediction: Indianapolis 30, NY Jets 17.
