2016 Big East Tournament Predictions

Here are my predictions for the 2016 Big East tournament. The tournament will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

First Round
March 9th- (9) DePaul (9-21; 3-15) vs (8) Georgetown (14-17; 7-11)- 7:00, FS1
Prediction: Georgetown

March 9th- (10) St. John's (8-23; 1-17) vs (7) Marquette (19-12; 8-10)- 9:30, FS1
Prediction: Marquette

Quarterfinals
March 10th- (8) Georgetown vs (1) Villanova (27-4; 16-2)- 12:00, FS1
Prediction: Villanova

March 10th- (5) Butler (21-9; 10-8) vs (4) Providence (22-9; 10-8)- 2:30, FS1: This is an intriguing game. Both teams started the season off very well and were ranked before conference play began. Kris Dunn is one of the best players in this conference, but his team will fall short here against a Butler team that's quietly playing well of late and Providence has fallen off.
Prediction: Butler

March 10th- (7) Marquette vs (2) Xavier (26-4; 14-4)- 7:00, FS1
Prediction: Xavier

March 10th- (6) Creighton (18-13; 9-9) vs (3) Seton Hall (22-8; 12-6)- 9:30, FS1
Prediction: Seton Hall

Semifinals
March 11th- (5) Butler vs (1) Villanova- 7:00, FS1: This matchup should be very interesting, but I like Jay Wright's team here to move on to the championship game although Butler can't be counted out.
Prediction: Villanova

March 11th- (3) Seton Hall vs (2) Xavier- 9:30, FS1: This matchup is very intriguing. Seton Hall recently creamed Xavier at home, but they were coming off that big win over Villanova so that may have been a letdown. Xavier is the more superior team and will move on to the championship game, but Hall shouldn't be counted out.
Prediction: Xavier

Championship
March 12th- (2) Xavier vs (1) Villanova- 5:30, FOX: These two teams are clearly the conferences best teams. This was a very tough call, but Nova seems to play well at the Mecca, so they'll receive the auto bid and a one-seed while Xavier will end up as a two-seed in all likelihood.
Prediction: Villanova
